I came in to the Brighton location looking for bags of mulch. The employee informed me of the display options and to let her know which color I was interested in. I chose the red and she gave me the price and directed me to the pickup area for the mulch. The selection is very good and the staff in the store was very friendly and kind. One weird thing that happened at checkout was the young lady asked if we had a phone number on file and then tried to look us up by name. When she couldn't find us she said $76.21 and that was it! She never bothered to offer to enter us into the system just took our money. I assume they have some sort of rewards program and now I guess I'll never know. read more

I love coming in to walk through and get into a festive frame of mind! Plus today it's snowing! So fun! Wow! $35 for 1970's type peperomia, hoya and pilea in 4" pots?! Who are they kidding?! Been shopping here for literally decades. Now, house plants have been moved to new "designated area" per owners' instruction. No natural light, under patio store cover. WTF? It's March. Brighton location does not look ready. Where are the pansy pots? Easter's less than a month away. Palms for Palm Sunday? No forced pots of tulips, narcissus. 8 pots of heliotrope on display despite ad in email......8" pot for $29. I guess this is enough for the price charged. Should be an interesting season. I wish them the best. read more

Hubby and I visited Bordine's because we had a gift card. This location is closest to us and it's about 30 minutes from our house. There were quite a few shoppers when we arrived about 12:30 today (Sunday). The outside entryway was inviting and nicely decorated with plants and there were plenty of shopping carts or flat beds. The outside area has scrubs, trees, and perennials. The inside has annuals, veggie plants, outdoor furniture, and decor. We were easily able to find a couple of shrubs by following the posted signs. Also, each tree/shrub had a description with info such as overall size, hardness zones, shade/sunlight, and more. This was very helpful. The place was well organized, there were plenty of signs, and many cashiers. We felt the prices were high so for that reason (and the distance) we probably wouldn't go back. First visit ever to a Bordines. Surprising seeing as though they have been around so long and are a big company. We usually stick to non chain places for all of our gardening needs. We were disappointed with Bordines unfortunately. Trying to find employees to help answer questions was not an easy feet.  When we finally found someone they weren't very friendly or helpful. Maybe because it was close to closing time I'm not sure.  The selection of Vegetables and Herb plants was underwhelming. Just not a very large selection especially with the herbs. Pricing?....a lot higher than what we normally pay. Which considering that this is a Bordines it's pretty much what we expected. We did end up going with a large potted Tomato Plant for the porch. I had not purchased one yet for the season so we decided to get one here. *Fast forward a few months into growing season. The plant from the first week had a sickness which we had to treat. So everything that grew pretty much had rotted on the bottom except for a couple. Total waste. I definitely think we will stick to our usual store for now on. read more

BE AWARE OF DECEPTIVE AND MISLEADING ADVERTISING. Their site will advertise daily specials. In reality, they do not honor their promotions as stated. Case and point - Bordine's is advertising 20% off all perennials (see image). Upon checking out, I'm informed that Hydrangeas are not including in the promotion. I'm shocked and ask why. She cannot give me a clear answer but calls over the manager. The general manager explains that hydrangeas are not included in their current promotion. Once again, I ask why. They are located under signs saying perennials and under signs that say 20% off? Nope he insists, they are not perennials and not included in the promotion. But why I ask? He insists hydrangeas are not under the umbrella of perennials (regardless of their signage). Admittedly, I am not an expert and leave frustrated without any clear answer and a terrible customer service experience. So I do some research to see where the truth lies. The definition of perennial is attached as well as other resources that clearly list hydrangeas as perennials. I SUSPECT THIS IS NOT HE FIRST TIME BORDINES HAS MISLED CUSTOMERS WITH THEIR ADVERTISING. If you want a plant, Bordine's will have it. But it will cost you. I've spent plenty of time and money here and not had a bad experience, but I don't recall asking for help more than once or twice. I always stock up on potting soil and seeds in early spring when it's on sale, best deal around. Regular price is always high, so I check my regular place first and Bordine's for the stuff I can't find there. read more

My experiences including the purchase of herbs, perennials, annuals and shrubs have been excellent. I have an extensive perennial garden. The plants I'd purchased at Bordine's in Brighton have done much better than plants I'd purchased elsewhere. They were more mature and disease free. Once I had to return a fern that didn't make it through its first winter. The guarantee was honored. I've enjoyed several classes at Bordine's Brighton and learned a lot. read more

Their stock is of high quality and you pay for that as they are more expensive. The staff is top notch. I spend a lot of money there year after year. I do get frustrated when they hassle me on my returns. Like i said I purchase lots of plants, trees and shrubs every year and i baby my plants. So, when one does not survive I expect to be refunded without hassle...otherwise i can just go to Lowes or Home Depot which is closer, cheaper and easily refund my dead stock. Would be nice if there was some type of frequent buyer program to be rewarded for using their nursery. They have a pointsetta program but not interested. read more
