A photo I posted to social media from the vet

I would give 0 stars if I could. This is the absolute worst vet clinic in the world, they charge insane prices, convince you your pet needs procedures and tests that they absolutely do not need, they don't disclose pricing & downplay pricing until you go to the desk and get hit with a $900 bill for simple bloodwork. My one dog that I take here, they treated for heartworm ($3000) and she still has it somehow after three treatments. I take my other dogs to Banfield in Woburn and Melrose animal clinic, and both those vets charge half the price of what Borash charges. Trust me when I say, never go to this clinic. There is a reason they can get you an appointment next day any time you call (which is the only advantage of going here) - but it's because they clearly don't have alot of clientele due to their astronomical prices. Do yourself a favor and don't get absolutely raked for cash by this place.

My ManiCat stopped seeing Dr. Southgate sometime after after we both moved locations, however my ManiCat reached nearly twenty years of age and that was with Dr. Southgate's appreciation and care of him. The many years we had with Dr. Southgate will never be forgotten and I will forever appreciate him. The testimony of Borash Veterinary Clinic is witnessed by the testimony of my dear Mani and his long, heathy, lifespan. In spite of severe asthma, heart problems, and also near death from eating the small bit of Christmas tree netting left on the tree trunk (watch out for this unknown danger..) ManiCat lived well and not without Dr. Southgate's watchful eye. The galaxy does not have enough stars to rate the competency, care and professionalism of this clinic, nor any clinic affiliated with the good fortune known as Dr. Southgate. EDIT: I'll never forget when Dr. Southgate was in North Reading and had the guts, but really professionalism and competency, to tell a shocked me that my Mani was too fat. This was super important, especially considering my Mani's health conditions and I remember this most because Dr. Southgate is such a doting doctor, but also a veterinarian of veterinarians, and he exhibited first hand that he will always do what is best for your pet, and this is why my Mani lived to nineteen. **Thank you, Dr. Southgate, thank you Borash Veterinary Clinic. (Three pounds over ideal weight, without that honesty Mani probably would have passed years sooner..) .**

I got there and no one could find his appointment on the calendar. I pushed and described the woman I spoke to who booked the appointment. they located the appointment but the woman booked in 3 days in the past. so the staff told me to go home and that they would try to see him a couple hours later. the cat was crying and stressed from the ride over. How cruel. no one seemed to care about his health or well being. I came back and was squeezed into see Dr Steve logsdon. I warned him that my cat bites when stressed and that he should wear gloves. But no he didn't listen and my cat nipped him in the finger. Nothing serious but the dramatic performance put on by the "doctor" should have earned him an oscar. My poor cat was breathing seriously and was told he could go into a seizure.the cat was fine when I brought him to the hospital the first time but the stress from the staff making him leave and come back hours later was too much for him. My cat was 19. Well the doctor told me that I was causing him stress by trying to comfort him. Doc never apologized for mixing up his appointment and having to bring a sick cat back home then back again. Never apologized just blamed me for trying to comfort the cat. He yelled at my sick cat for nipping his finger. Then made us sign paperwork that he got bit. This doctor was over the top. Why wasn't he wearing gloves like most other vets? I told him to wear gloves. Then he told me that my cat needed to be put down. This made no sense to me. The cat was stressed from the doctor mishandling him and from being sent home twice. He then put him down. Instead of allowing us to cry etc he scurried us out into the waiting room with an empty cat carrier to pay for the miservices his office caused My husband and I were unconsolable. They made us wait in a line to pay up instead of having the decency to pay in private. Many other pet owners in the waiting room told us they were disgusted at how we were treated. Their normal process is to pay in private and to leave our s back door. Thank you for screwing up his vet appointment. I blame your office for causing him the stress that took his poor life. Do better . I called a few days later and asked what the process was when a pet is put down. The office manager was shocked when I told her what happened. Why were we treated differently,? Avoid this hospital. Their poor communication, lack of processes in place, lack of empathy, and judgement is going to get them in serious trouble someday. Do better. Treat people better. I should have read the poor reviews. I will forever feel guilty for beinging my pet there.

I went here and I brought my cat on a leash and we sat quietly in the area and everything was fine. They were very friendly and fond over my cat and he was put at ease and behaved great through the entire exam and the shots. Today when I went, I had a terrible experience and when I brought my cat in on the leash, nobody said hello to me or my I went up to the desk to check in and they said I was checked didn't ask me how my was or say anything friendly to me. Meanwhile, every dog that came got a treat a hello and all kinds of attention I thought maybe it was just because they knew those dogs but then a few minutes later they came out with a cardboard pet carrier and told me cats have to be in pet carriers. They didn't look at me nicely. They didn't say I'm really sorry but we need your to go into this carrier. They didn't say anything soothing to my cat. They didn't even pet him. He was very upset about going into the carrier since he normally goes around places on a leash and a harness. Every I've ever gone to I've taken him in with a leash and a harness and he's always done fine and I said why does he have to go into a pet carrier? They said because he could get hurt by a dog or a dog might attack him and I said well then shouldn't a dog wear a muzzle and they looked at me and and said we don't muzzle dogs here to which I said, but you can put cats cardboard so that the dogs don't hurt the cat? I would think that it's the dogs that need to be rained in. From that point on they didn't have any conversation with me. They did not apologize to me. They did not try to calm my down and when we went in for the exam, my was obviously upset and was and the that came in Dr. Gallagher was not who I had originally made the appointment with when she entered. She She immediately put hands on my cat, who hissed at her. She didn't try to calm him down. She didn't talk to him. She didn't say anything at all to him as a matter of fact, and then she took to draw Blood and she told me that they couldn't because he was too upset and I needed to take him home and sedate him. I've never done anything like that. He doesn't hiss at people the only thing that upsets him is getting his nails clipped. I will never go there again and I recommend you don't either especially if you have a cat.

When I become a first-time dog owner soon, naturally this will be my dog's vet! I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. The practice is a holistic one and Dr. Crowley is also a homeopath. If she's not available, I see Dr. Ricketts, who's great as well. I've been coming here for about 10 years. When Ms. Leo-Kitty got slapped with the hopeless "chronic renal failure" diagnosis, I refused to give up, and sought out a practice that considered the ENTIRE animal, just as I do with myself, and expect from my personal health care practitioners. I received a huge awakening with regard to nutrition, on-the-spot moving from dry to wet food, a HUGE contributor to this somewhat preventable illness!!!!! WHO KNEW? My previous vet had apprised me of nothing, sigh. She was nice enough but that's hardly sufficient when it comes to health CARE, which should be overwhelmingly preventative. Seeing Dr. Crowley yesterday, I have renewed vigor for doing my part in their dental care, another enormous area where prevention is key. I got some poultry-flavored toothpaste into one of them this morning, a first step. Yum. I just read in the most recent newsletter - she is an ardent EDUCATOR- that she considers herself a dental geek. I LOVE this, and can't wait until I earn being able to call myself a lay version of same. Yesterday we also discussed my adding a dog to my household. I didn't expect the conversation to be so extensive, but I should have; she's always so thorough and TAKES THE TIME. Now I know where I will adopt my likely pitbull, because the rescue she recommended, like her, considers all facets of the animal and "vets" them thoroughly. Ha ha. Our furbabies depend on us. You can depend on this entire practice for their holistic, loving, enthusiastic care, and for empowerment in upping your own game in pet parenthood.
