I've been bringing my cats since they were tiny kittens. They are now 12, and while we have had a few serious issues (one had a mast cell carcinoma removed), they never have made me wait for any answers. I called today at noon because my cat had a small irritation from a tick bite. Sent pictures, got a call 3 hours later with instructions. It wasn't serious, but they always take the worried owner seriously. Dr. Story is our go to, but from the front desk to the techs, you are in great hands! Thank you Atlantic vet!!!! read more

Dr. Rockwell and entire staff are kind, caring & compassionate. Recently my Bentley crossed over to Rainbow Bridge with Dr. Rockwell and Adam who was absolutely so compassionate with us. Today brought my new puppy Brady in for his first exam and was so appreciative that Dr. Rockwell once again accommodated us easily. His staff is extremely comforting to all situations. read more

This place has seen us through many pets and remains a family favorite. They are caring and professional and each and every staff member couldn't be more recommended. As of 2020 /21...they are doing the best to protect against covid during the pandemic with meticulous scheduling and very strategic efforts while simultaneously making it remain nice for both pet owners and pets to still feel comfortable using the office. They have helped me in countless ways with my dogs and puppies and no matter which doctor I see, the feeling of confidence remains. If you are new to Marblehead or the surrounding area this is the place you should consider...they are simply the best of the best. read more

2-3 years ago i would be writing with 5 starts and nothing but praise. However over the past year or so they have become too big to handle patient care and also nickel and dime. I was charged $28 to have 1 dogs nails trimmed which took the tech 30 seconds. I was sticker shocked to say the least to pay over $300 for an annual visit for a health dog. (side note, this is a free service for patients at my new vet) However this isn't the biggest issue - They no longer accommodate sick or injury visits. You have to call in the am and if you are not a lucky winner for one of the couple appointments they have, you are out of luck. I couldn't even get the vet to return the call and at least advise over the phone. Instead a very rude woman called to tell me it would be weeks before my dog would be seen. Weeks?? Seriously? I always loved them and their staff however that woman was so incredibly rude and lacked any empathy or compassion for my injured animal I actually hung up the phone in tears and decided this was no longer a practice I would trust with my family member. It saddens me a great deal to even write this as I LOVED the Vet and and practice. They have really changed and not for the better. read more

Took my boy, Frank here as a new patient in December. He had a lump and they determined it was a mast cell tumor. Even though protocols have changed due to Covid, they treated him really well and took good care. I'm glad I made the switch to this practice! read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my parents. I've witnessed firsthand how the care my parents and their pups received from Atlantic Vet (especially Dr. Meaney) was full of compassion and skill. ************ Cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Meaney and the staff of Atlantic Veterinary Hospital. We moved to the Northshore area 2 1/2 years ago from out of state with our 2 senior miniature schnauzers. Our 10-year-old schnauzer developed bladder stones and urinary tract infections after our move. He was misdiagnosed at two other veterinary hospitals prior to us finding Dr Meaney at Atlantic Veterinary Hospital. Under Dr. Meaney's care his health quickly improved. Dr. Meaney and all the staff provide exceptional care demonstrating compassion and understanding not only to our dogs, but to me and my husband as well. Today we had to euthanize our 13-year-old schnauzer. Dr. Meaney and the staff guided us through the process and provided us with understanding and a shoulder to cry on. The loving tender care they provided to our fur baby as he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge will forever be appreciated by us. Our little Butch not only felt our love today, he felt Dr. Meaney's as well. read more

The vet and vet techs were just amazing how they calmed my nervous dog down to get and exam and 4 vaccines. The staff are so helpful and professional. We searched high and low for a Vet for our new puppy Zoey. I spent WEEKS reading every review for every vet within an hour of us and chose Atlantic. Not only because of the reviews but because they take our insurance. Truepanion (pet insurance) recommended Atlantic because they also have the truepanion software system (not all do). which means I dont have the hassle of submitting insurance claims and waiting for my money back. They actually put the claims directly through to the insurance. This will save me so much hassle. I was, to my surprise, very nervous for the first appointment this being my first puppy. Thankfully Dr Cronin is everything you'd hope to find for your baby. She listens, and doesn't make you feel stupid asking lots of questions. Never once felt rushed, and you can really tell that she genuinely loves seeing your puppy. She also has her own frenchie so she seems even more knowledgeable with mine. I also (did what I wasn't supposed to lol) and read lots on the internet about vaccines. I wanted to be careful with how fast we administered all the vaccines & was worried they wouldn't agree. To my surprise she suggested exactly what I was hoping to do. I'm so relieved we found such an amazing place. The techs are also super kind/gentle, & desk staff are all professional and kind. I can't express in words how happy I am with these guys. The service is excellent and they have really helped my dogs through a lot. From preventative care to surgery as they have aged. I'm so happy I was referred here! The staff and doctors are amazing! Their office/waiting area is very comfortable and I appreciate that there's a rather large grassy area for the animals to go to the bathroom or just walk around. My dog Bandit's primary doctor is Dr. Cronin (whom we all love) but when she's not available we happily see anyone who is and have yet to have a negative experience. Recently Bandit had his teeth cleaned. When I went to pick him up Robin was walking around with him in her arms-she had no idea we were his parents! That tells you the kind of place this is-they truly care about your fur babies. I highly recommend Atlantic Veterinary Hospital, I wish we had found them sooner! read more

The staff is knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and surprisingly accessible. There is always a doctor on call for emergencies and if you need to leave a message they return calls promptly. Over the past 2 years I've probably visited 4-5 times. There is a large private lot in front of the building. The waiting room inside is spacious and comfortable. Each visit there I noticed how remarkably clean they keep everything. The only room for improvement pertains to scheduling. During a couple visits the staff was running 10-15 minutes behind. What I thought was going to be a quick 30-minute stop turned into an hour of my day. It's not the end of the world, but it would have been nice if I could plan accordingly. My wife would say that the dog is more important anyways, so you be the judge! read more

This team is a troop of angels. We have loved every experience we've had with them since starting to bring our sweet Beasley through their doors. He always loved going and was fawned over by the vets and techs alike. From acupuncture to B12 shots, to routine checkups to minor surgeries, to most recently his getting his angel wings, these folks don't miss a detail. From tea to warmth and life in the waiting room, to all of the thoughtful details that go into end of life... they're person-centered and empathetic, genuine and complete pros. My dog got very sick in October and my vet couldn't fit me in every time I called. I called Atlantic as several people I know sang their praises. Dr Jason Story saw Layla that day. The care that Layla received for the next few months was exceptional Unfortunately, I had to put her to sleep in December as it was a neurological disease that was terminal. The compassion shown to me in that office by everyone was so wonderful. When I'm ready to get another dog, my first stop will be to Atlantic to get the best care from day 1. read more

I started bringing my pup to Atlantic Vet when I worked & went to Salem state. One of my coworkers recommended it & I have never been disappointed. I no longer work/attend Salem state & I am rarely in the area, but I will always make the trip for my dog's needs. I have experience with most, if not all the doctors there & they are always so kind, loving and understanding. Ruthie is also my go-to groomer. She is so great with my dog(who I thought would have to be sedated to get groomed, but ruthie is magical!) I cannot day enough great things about Atlantic Vet. read more

They are wonderful!!! Dr siewko and dr rockwell are both amazing. The doctors and nurses there are incredibly nice and professional and treat the animals well. I used to take my cat to north shore animal hospital in lynn absolute nightmare they overcharged and were rude to me and mean to my cat, granted she is a calico nightmare but you got into this job because you are supposed to love animals! Dr siewko was amazing she worked with my calico cat made her feel comfortable and treated her very well! They are also excellent about answering questions and will take there time with each of there clients. Thank you atlantic for taking such good care of my pets! read more

We have been bringing our 6 year old cat here since we first got her as a kitten. The staff treats our cat gently and lovingly, they offer lots of information on the procedures, vaccinations and medications, and they let us know what is necessary and what can wait. While I agree that the cost often seems "high" when we visit, I know that it's worth it to keep our pet healthy. read more

I love Atlantic Veterinary Hospital! Dr. Story (and others) have seen my rescue Lucy through all the ups and downs from puppyhood to now at age 12. Everyone at the office has consistently treated her with care and compassion as if she were their own. As the owner of a senior pet, we call in and pick up a monthly perscription with ease. The facility is beautiful-- clean and welcoming for my whole family. Appointments are easy to schedule and timely. On a few occasions I've been in a pinch and needed something out of the ordinary (be it a last minute rabies certificate for our dog license or help with medical treatment while out of state) and the office has been willing to fax, e-mail and call on my pet's behalf. In addition to my personal pet experience, I love Atlantic as a community resource. A few years ago my class embarked upon a service learning initiative around animal welfare. Dr. and Annie Rockwell enthusiastically make it happen--opening their doors off hours to the entire Gerry School first grade. Almost 80 six year olds were able to see first hand how the Atlantic Veterinary Hospital meets the needs of so many animals in our small town. I think it's an amazing place and I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

My pet has been a patient here for many years. Since they moved into the larger building a few years ago I have seen the customer service and care level decline sharply. The front desk is a zoo and I have been overbilled a couple of times, and I am sure a lot of customers might not even look to check their bills. My pet was referred to a liver specialist and it took 3 phone calls to Carrie to get her to send the records to the specialist. So on this time sensitive issue this poor customer service delayed my being able to schedule an appointment and instead of the hoped for Friday appt. I had to wait until Monday. My pet recovered nicely but the poor customer service has me contemplating a change. The doctors are okay, but they seem rushed to move onto their next appointment and keep the cash registers ringing. read more

We have been taking our pets here for more than 6 years for regular annual exams. The entire staff is always very pleasant and knowledgable. I agree with previous posters that they never rush you and are very good at handling stressed out and anxious pets. We recently had an emergency situation with my dog where he was urinating blood after exercising. I called the office after-hours (around 7 PM) and waited for a call back from the on-call veterinarian. Dr. Story called me back within 10 minutes and advised me to bring my dog in right away. I was so relieved that they were able to see my dog after-hours and that they spent so much time making sure he was ok. The visit wasn't cheap, but it was worth it because, like most responsible pet owners also feel, he is an important part of our family! I would recommend Atlantic Vet Hospital to anyone who wants to make sure that their pets are healthy and well taken care of. read more

I'm away from Marblehead for a short time, and my attempts to find a good vet in California have made me realize what a gem we have in Atlantic Veterinary Hospital. My rescue terrier has been a patient here off and on for eleven years. The office is incredibly clean and well kept, comfortable, with easy parking and plenty of space in the waiting room. We usually see Dr. Story, who is wonderful. My dog is an anxious guy around vets, and often around men in general, and Dr. Story (together with all the nurses and front desk folks) has an incredibly kind, empathetic, and patient manner with him, and with us his nervous dog parents. Dr. Story is always willing to work with us on solutions for our dog's health, and never once have I felt upsold or pushed into pricey options that aren't necessary. In my experience they are nothing but professional people who want companion animals to live happy and healthy lives. I'm so glad we'll be back home soon so that my elderly dog can continue to be seen at Atlantic. read more

Atlantic Veterinary Hospital has been so supportive, empathetic and overall amazing during such a difficult time in our lives. After a two month struggle of symptoms ranging from leg injury, to trouble breathing, and even facial paralysis, Jason Story was there trying to figure out what the problem could be that was effecting our 8 year old Lab/German Shepherd mix. With a wedding around the corner and a 2 week honeymoon in Europe, Jason kept in constant communication while recommending specialist, medicine, and overall care for our dog. A day before our wedding we woke up to find our dog in the corner of the bathroom after a very long night of loss of appetite, difficulty breathing, and defecating in the house. We instantly knew that we had to put him down. One call to the vet and they reserved an appointment that morning. After a quick trip to the beach to watch the waves one more time, we walked into the office. Bear was calmer than ever before (knowing that the pain would soon end.) Jason asked us how he could help us (knowing our wedding was the day after) and we accepted the fact that we had done everything we could do for our boy. Before we said good bye there was a team of nurses and doctors that came in to the room to say their special good bye's to our sweet boy. Days later we received flowers from the office congratulating us on our marriage along with kind words for our loss and paw prints from our love. We are so thankful that this team was by our side during such an absolutely difficult time. We are forever thankful for Dr. Story and his team. Bear says thanks, too. read more

The team here is incredible. Just had our first visit with them for our 11 yr old cat Winnie. After going through a few terrible experiences with another vet clinic, a friend referred Atlantic and we could not be happier! Reception was warm, friendly and our vet tech was equally wonderful, already providing more care and peace of mind than our prior vet. Then we met Dr.Story, words cannot express how grateful we are for the level of care and wisdom he provided. To provide a bit of back story, our cat was diagnosed with breast cancer in August. After undergoing a chain mastectomy, we learned her margins weren't good. Our prior vet could not provide any sound advice on future treatment, nor nutritional advice or things to look out for. We have spent months racked with guilt, angst and uncertainty. Dr. Story reviewed Winnie's history extensively, answered any/all of our questions and most importantly, expressed genuine empathy and compassion. This clinic truly cares and isn't out to rake you over the coals financially. For the first time in months, we left a vet clinic feeling heard and finally felt some peace. Our kitties plight is likely far from over, but we know we are in great hands with this team. We definitely found are forever vet, thank you all so very much read more

We've had the greatest experiences with Atlantic for both our dog and cat. Most recently, we brought our cat in on a Saturday morning for a last minute sick visit. He was lethargic, not eating or using the litter box and not going out as usual, but we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Dr. Rockwell (the owner), saw us as soon as we arrived, quickly discovered that the problem was most likely our cat's bladder and took him overnight to observe him, make sure it wasn't something serious (like crystals, etc) and get him started on antibiotics. We received an update from Dr. Rockwell himself within a few hours and the following morning (a Sunday!), got a call from the Doctor again to come pick him up. My husband arrived to find Dr. Rockwell spending his Sunday morning making sure our cat was good as new before starting his day. I can't say how much it meant to have a vet and owner of the practice take such good care of our animals. read more

I am very unhappy with Atlantic Vet in Marblehead. I have a very sick kitty with colitis, asthma... and other things. My kitty has had 2 recent absolutely horrifying trips to that hospital and i am sorry to say I cant bare to give them a third chance with him. The very last drs visit we had, I thought we were going to treat a UTI infections... after a while of waiting, one of the assistants came out to tell me that my cat was under laser treatment, getting fluids and on pain meds. WITHOUT ASKING ME BEFORE THEY DID IT!!! I was also charged $200 for all the work they did WITHOUT my consent. I called up to dispute the charge the week after and they told me they could give me $10 off the bill. That is a joke. Especially since they did it all behind my back and my poor kitty was drugged up on pain meds. One of the assistants told me they would have Mrs. Rockwell call me back personally to discuss the bill. Well, that was 2 weeks ago and I still have a $200 charge on my credit card that i will have to dispute through the credit card company since Atlantic Vet doesn't care about their clients enough to call back. Very VERY disappointed. read more

I love Dr. Rockwell but this place has gone down hill. I used to love bringing my pets here. They used to be so personable and truly cared about my pets. Dr Siewko was a sweetheart I loved bringing my pets in because she would love each and every one of them. From my ferret, to my dogs and my cat she made a connection with all of them. The two of them made me and my pets so comfortable. After the big move and expansion things seriously declined. The new doctors are terrible. Always in a rush and never know what they're doing and the prices are outrageous now. The doctors made a mistake on the bill and I had to pay for it (literally). I have had 2 absolutely terrible experiences with them and I am not going to give them a 3rd chance. It's such a shame to see what this place has turned into. Nothing against Dr Rockwell but he needs an entirely new staff. I will be taking my pets to Dr Siewko's new practice in Peabody! read more
