When he told me that he was moving to a new location on Broadway as he was expanding his store space I was truly happy for him. It's a bit drive for me now to go to his new location and yet I cannot help supporting my favorite wine shop because I get, not only the greatest customer service but also the rare/quality selection of wines that no other wine stores have. Thanks Tim for being an excellent wine expert who always educates me whenever I drop by. Baker Wine & Spirits is definitely a local gem of Denver.

We live right up the street off Alameda and were happy to discover this place! Not only are they owners nice ( and speak good English) they also have a seriously good selection of alcohol. They have a great mix of locals and imports and have tons of wine ( none of that barefoot and cupcake shit). They also offer a punch card with minimal discounts but discounts none the less! I know I can count on getting something quality and quick when stopping in here! For sure worth a visit if you're near.

We actually had to drive through the parking lot, back into the street and then into the drive-thru line. (Kym B is not lying - this is not a place made for multiple cars to drive through.) But, as we drove away, 12 beers heavier and 8 dollars lighter I felt a tremendous sense of satisfaction. The inside seems like it might be sketchy based on the outside appearance. However, the man working there was super nice, lamenting the fact that he couldn't have a TV to keep himself occupied during the slower parts of the day and making general conversation with us while someone else got the cold ones for us. Strange fact - they didn't have the 12-pack of beers. They gave us 2 sixers instead. And it's true that they won't let you pay with credit cards in the drive-thru line (unless you have kids).

And I thought to myself, "this is totally going in my review. One star, DOCKED!" But eventually I got up to the window and was reminded why I patronize this place so frequently. A little sign to my left read: WINDOW IS CASH ONLY, CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED INSIDE. Oh no! The cashier lady smiled at me though, and said, "don't worry... we make exceptions for people with sleeping babies." Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about! Because, after all, I was indeed-y picking up six bottles of Boone's Farm Apple Wine Product. Don't ask. Prices are cheap here, and it's definitely THE place to go if you need a keg for a party. Anyway, Santa Fe Liquors is a small, neighborhood store. If you take Santa Fe into downtown driving home, it's perfect for you - prices aren't super high (Dale's Pale Ale is under $9 a six pack, not bad for a local place - and you avoid the drive to Argonaut.) Quick tip: They've got street parking right out front... just slow down a bit just before you hit the address, and drive right into the street area. The owner (I assume... the same guy has been there every time I've been in) is friendly and helpful. No complaints here!

For the particular brand of tequila I was in for, however, the store only carried the Blanco (silver) one so no Reposado and/or Anejo. I, however, was able to walk away with its tequila-based coffee liqueur (Cantera Negra Cafe) which I had always wanted to try. The employees (pretty much all of them) were very professional and courteous for my shopping needs. The store is a good size. Very organized where things aren't cramped into the space. Very clean indeed. On Thursday and Saturday, they do tastings (4-7pm on Thursdays and 3-6pm on Saturdays); the designated tasting area is on the north end of the shop. You can park in the Whole Foods garage (there is a door to it inside the shop; this is convenient especially when the weather is bad with rain or show.) I don't come to this part of town very often but it's nice to know that a good liquor store with high-end feel exists right in the heart of Belmar shopping area.
