Love this place prices are great and the people are helpful! Usually have no issue using the digital ID here or any other liquor store or even the bars in Denver! Just came in today to get a Chelada and the guy accepted my digital, but was honestly so rude about it. He told me to bring my ID instead of digital and I informed him that it's coming in the mail and that's why I have the digital. He then tossed my debit card back to me on the counter in a rude manner. Maybe it was my tone too idk haha either way just be careful with digital here cause they may or may not accept it. Much of what this place has going for it is the location - it is right next to a Safeway, DU and a bank. They sell what I am looking for cold and I can occasionally get a free sticker or two. I am sort of a sticker slut. IMHO - the service is lacking (beside the bald manager guy with the three kids - he is great). I know they are a liquor store and not selling stuff that needs much selling, but I buy beer. I love beer, I really do, but you knew that. All I am asking for is a "Hi Heidi" or "Howdoyoudo" or a simple smile of recognition with maybe - brace yourself - eye contact. Wait, maybe they are just sick of seeing me....ha! That is it!! They must avert their eyes from the beer lady. I have seen some of these workers move here from other liquor stores and I have yet to be greeted with my name or any hint that I have been shopping for beer in Denver since I was legal or have been breathing the same air as these people for a couple decades. I remember when it was just a pharmacy and drug store. The only person who will even offer to help me to my truck is the manager guy. I know I am not a crazy college kid from DU (anymore) who will buy 10 kegs in a shot, (OK, I never did that as a grad student) but hey, do you really need to see my driver's license AGAIN!!!? Morgans is an A-OK liquor store and a good choice for the area. Their staff is friendly and knowledgable, and they'll help you find anything you need. The selection is pretty big, but the prices aren't great-most six packs are upwards of $10. They also offer mixers like soda, wine bags, and glasses. I'm going with four stars for this liquor store in Denver. Unless you want to drive to the suburbs to one of the monster liquor stores, Morgan's is a great Denver option where you can get almost everything you need at a pretty good price. I needed French wine. I will not go into the specifics, but I needed three obscure varietals and they had them all- they were all pretty good vintages so I was pleased. Prices were exactly what they should've been: neither a bargain, nor a rip off. I also needed a bottle of rum, and while the rum selection was extremely limited I was able to get a pretty good price on a boring Bacardi. Parking and convenience are absolutely one of the things that really is great about Morgan's: located right next to Safeway and FirstBank you can pretty much knock out all your errands in one place. Plenty of beer, wine, and college grade liquor (as we are on the DU campus- a lot of the liquor here goes to college students, bless their hearts). However you can find limited but more sophisticated items as well. I got what I needed. read more

Prices advertised within the store are not honored and only made up once you arrive at checkout. Saw a 12-pack of O'Dells IPA marked in the cooler at $18.99, when I got to checkout it came up as $20.99. I took the cashier back to the cooler to show her the price. Morgan's Liquors is my neighborhood liquor store. I am in there at least once a week since moving to the neighborhood. I am there one evening purchasing wine and I get to the cash register and the women (who I find out is the assistant store manager) rudely tells me my credit card was declined. I was like that is impossible, but give her another card to use. I didn't think much of the interaction as I left the store. A couple of months later, I am in the store to pick up a bottle of whiskey. We had just come back from skiing and I am in my base layers. I am in the whiskey aisle looking through my phone to find the photo of the whiskeys we had tired when we were in Ireland. The same women from prior trip to store. Runs by me and pretend to straighten a shelf, quickly asked me if I have any questions and before I can answer her, she takes off. I felt that she was racially profiling me since I am African American. My reasons are as follows. There were 4 people in line waiting to be rung up and she was the only one ringing. So she stops ringing to come check on me? Keep in mind I am in base layers and couldn't possibly walk out the door with any alcohol. Nor would I steal, I have never stolen anything in my life. Second, if she really wanted to assist me, why didn't she stop and actually help me. After this interaction, I realized that I have been racially profiled, so I leave the store. I will NEVER shop at this store again. I now shop at TOTAL WINES & MORE, which is an inconvenience, but at least I am not getting racially profiled. It is really sad as I would rather shop local and not give my money to a big chain. read more

I think the attraction is their beer selection. They've got a respectable selection of microbrews both in 22s and six packs. Every month they have a special on a microbrew...every beer from the specific brewery, usually $7 or so for the six pack instead of 8 and up. They claim to have the best selection of beer/microbrews in south Denver, but I've not attempted to objectively verify that. The liquor selection is above average but you might be disappointed if you want to buy five different kinds of rye whiskey. I think they only have two or three. I don't know jack about wine, but they've got a bunch of it. Fun: underneath their clear counter top they keep the false IDs they see and write funny captions on them. Recently coming from St. Louis, I am still getting used to having to buy my beer (full ABV) at the liquor store - but it's conveniently located right next to a Safeway, so thats huge plus when you grocery shop. Friendly service and never too long of a wait. Good selection of beer, average selection of liquor, and they have all of the Bota Box Wine styles, including RedVolution which I have had difficulty finding in the past. I wouldn't normally review a store like this, but the last time I went in, I left in such a good mood it needed to be shared. I went in to buy one of the tiny bottles of whiskey for Christmas treats I was making, and the man working helped me find the best deal. (Even though I didn't ask any questions and it was obvious I was only spending $1-2.) So then I went to my Safeway run, and I got thinking that I should go back for a couple stocking stuffers. I went back in, and he talked me through picking out a couple bottles husband would like. Again, only spending $3, but he was still generous in time and spirit. He then put my purchases in a GIFT BAG and sent me on my way. He brightened my day, and I will be back for sure. Hopefully when I have more money to spend. :) read more

For 11 years I have been a loyal customer of Morgans. I shop there 98% of the time and often 2 times a week. EVERY employee knows me. They know my dog. They know I love IPA. I have been on their TXT coupon list since they initiated it and have nothing but great experiences there. That all changed today. On Friday I received the weekly TXT discount for a product I frequently buy and instead of saving it on my phone, I inadvertently deleted it. I asked the clerk on Friday if they would honor it if I came back Sunday (even though I didn't have it on my phone), and he said "no problem, I know you are part of the program" So I went in Sunday--today. I told them the situation, neither of the two clerks working would honor it without seeing the TXT(they know I am in there all the time showing my TXT coupon) one of the clerks went so far as to rudely tell me in front of a line of customers "that's why they call it a TEXT message... you gotta show the text to get the deal" I asked the girl working if they were serious, that I had been a customer for 11 years, that I was in there ALL the time. She simply said, "well that was an agreement you worked out with the clerk Friday and he isn't here... sorry. So do you still want to buy this?" I said "No. I do not. I'll have to find another liquor store" and I walked out. I would understand it if it was a physical coupon or something they need to scan or track, but this is a deal where they just override the price. They just lost a long time customer - Sorry Morgans, but customer service is paramount on my shopping experience. You failed. read more

This place is a staple as far as buying stuff to get you drunk if you live in DU/Platte Park/Rosedale. They have a really good micro-brew selection, a good mix of nice and cheap wines, and plenty of kegs and hard alcohol. Big surprise, a liquor store with a good selection of liquor. Give me a call if you want to buy a place in Montana. The prices aren't the absolute cheapest but they're not bad either. You can grab The Onion here and they often have fresh limes at the counter for your cerveza. Everybody who works here is pretty friendly (except for that one guy who ALWAYS asks me for my ID, and you know who I'm talking about, don't you :) and they remember and recognize the locals, too. Morgan's Liquors is a place that has charm to it. It is situated within the University of Denver neighborhood and has been for at least seventy years. Morgan's has an excellent selection of liquors, beers, wines, and party supplies despite its relative size. Also if you go there often enough you do not need to show identification to the employees who man the cash registers. These employees are usually very knowledgeable about the products that are sold at Morgans. Morgans is for the most part a very good store with decent pricing, also it has a good selection of Meads and Barley Wines. This was going to be my go-to liquor store. They usually have a few good deals if you look around. The staff is usually friendly, and pretend to be knowledgeable while trying to push crappy beer. However, the older lady who works the counter ruined my experience. I asked for a bag,(you know the type you put stuff in to carry) and she acted like she had more important things to do. She then picks up my six-pack and drops it(I believe on purpose), and throws my change at me. Morgan's is a hidden gem. I consider it one of the top liquor stores in Denver. They have a mass selection of craft beer and ALWAYS have a special on a craft brewery ($1-$2 off a six pack). The girl in front of me in line wanted a refund (I'm not sure why) but the person helping her was very short and rude. The manager or owner came out of the office and loudly began lecturing the girl on "how small businesses need to make money too" and threw the money at her. Very good selection for a small shop; often specials end up with prices here to be overall to just slightly lower the most liquors stores in Denver. The staff is mixed though. While some are always nice, some are a bit odd and make up odd rules about specials and sales nobody else does. Makes for going into Morgan's a bit of a mystery experience. 4 out 5 times is good, but you get that type where the clerk gives you gruff for no good reason and you wonder why you go there.
