The Booth Playhouse was a pleasant experience. We decided to go to this theater to see Immediate Family directed by Phylicia Rashad. The show held our attention and was well performed. While the theater is modern, attractive, and well kept. The lack of balancing the sound from the mixer board was less than desirable. When the actors whispered or lowered their voices, the sound was lost. I missed a lot of jokes and small statements. A detailed sound check needs to be done before each performance. I have worked sound. So, I am well aware of what it takes. I also have good hearing. Other guest who were sitting where I was also could not hear when the actors spoke softly. This is the reason why the theater received four stars. I hope they can fix this issue so they can present theater well. Overall, I had a great experience at the Booth Playhouse. read more

There isn't a bad seat in this location! I found the sound to be great, seats were pretty comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Getting in and out of here was super easy. Restrooms were clean and plenty of signage. Look forward to another event at this location! read more

I was at Booth Playhouse on Friday, 08/15/25. I was there to see Immediate Family, and I couldn't have made a better choice for a Friday night. Staff was eager to assist in any way. If you haven't seen Immediate Family, you should check it out...especially if you know the dynamics of sibling roles and how secrets can create tension. Now add $6 "facility fee" and $17.86 "ticket charge" and $10.36 "sales tax" and the total is now $153.22. 16% of the take goes to overhead, not including sales tax of 7.25%. That's a lot. With that said, the venue is great. Easy to access and while not tiny, it still felt intimate and engaging with the performer. I was in the "Left Orchestra" which is weird because it didn't feel orchestra at all. There were only four rows behind me. Tonight, Craig Ferguson on his "Fancy Rascal" tour. Craig is still a terrific comedian and in 90 minutes, not a single joke fell flat. Awesome. read more

Had a blast watching Rouge here! So many magnificent performers with beauty and grace & spectacular comedy! Alex Oliva's dancing, strap performance, & hoop performance was so elegant & strong! Malanah Hobgood's movement & control was absolutely sexy and captivating ! Abbie Rooney's rope act was so incredible! Every act was so amazing & the performers put on an awesome show- I'm surprised at the pricing for this show- they were incredible ! The theater was intimate & the sound quality & lighting was wonderful! The temperature was warm-greatly appreciated by me. Staff was extremely helpful with guiding me, that was my only complaint, finding this theater inside of the building. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more shows here! read more

Of all of the Blumenthal venues, I don't come to this one very often. It's a pretty nice little theater though. It's right next to Belk Theater so the parking passes work at Bank of America and 7th Street Station garages. This particular theater is very small, so there really aren't any bad seats. We got tickets in the very back of the balcony and we were still very close. The orchestra is very small and the balcony only has a few rows. I did find the seats to be a little old and uncomfortable. Don't expect much leg room either, but it's the same as other theaters in the area. Overall, I really like the intimacy of this theater and will definitely be back again next time a show is coming through that I want to see. read more

Had a very interesting interaction there tonight. I was visiting for the first time after having diner at Rooster's and stepped in to check it out. Got kicked out by the security guard who mentioned to me that a paid event was going on and I shouldn't be there. I was just wanting to learn more about the theater and maybe get some friendly assistance. But this bad first impression wouldn't make anybody want to come back and become a patron. The guard wasn't rude or anything, but I was surprised that he was the first to approach me out of all the workers and did not offer any value to a first time visitor, but rather kicking him out. Probably not coming back there anytime soon. read more

I really like this theater. It's small, there's not a bad seat, acoustics are good. Saw "Shear Madness" when it was playing here years ago. Most recently, we attended a matinee performance of "Post Secret the Show". (which was very entertaining). Great venue! read more

What a cute little theater. I've never even heard of this place but my husband surprised me one night by taking me here for a broadway musical called "First Date". Parking was connected to the building and we walked right across to get there. We checked in our tickets and got a drink at the bar. Someone guided us to our seats. I was so impressed with the seating! They had cabaret style seats as well as stadium seating. We sat in the cabaret seats. We got our own round table with two chairs. It was perfect! The Playhouse​ (theater) is located inside the Bank of America Center Atrium​. Parking i/a/o $5 is offered when you park in the BoA Center garage. You must get your ticket validated. The venue is rather small but is quaint and suitable. I believe this was my second visit in all of my years here in Charlotte. The staff members were accommodating and friendly. I would recommend seating beyond the first 4-5 rows as the latter rows are elevated. Otherwise, great seats all around. They have a small concession area with beer and wine, chips and candy. The prices are typical for Blumenthal-related events. read more

Great little theatre. Went on a Friday night to see some jazz, and really enjoyed how intimate it was. There are no bad seats here at all. They serve drinks and snacks and you are allowed to take pics and short vids of the show if you'd like. I parked at the Hearst garage and had to walk down the block to the entrance, but they do not validate Hearst parking tix. If you go, park in the BOA garage and pay only 5 bucks. Seating is first come first serve, so get there early if you're picky about seating. read more

Deep in the heart of the Bank of America building lies Booth Playhouse. You'll find all sorts of shows here, a bar to the right (with a decent $7 glass of Malbec, if I may add) and overall ease to the take in some theater! Inside, Booth is a bit bigger than I imagined - seating folks on both the floor and gallery levels. Upon a bit more research, I saw that this particular venue seats 434 - seriously, this is impressive considering it's within BoA. Seats and pretty cushy and comfy and there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Acoustics are decent, but I was fairly close during my visit, so I can't speak to the sound levels on the gallery level. Keep an eye out on the Blumenthal site, and/or sign up for advanced notice of what's coming up as this theater can fill up fast! Oh, and do yourself a favor and park within the Hearst Tower garage - it'll be quicker and much more efficient. Woot for culture. read more

There isn't a bad seat in the place and since there is no orchestra pit you can get some really great front seat action if you get the right tickets. Nice spot to catch a smaller show. One reviewer used the word intimate and I think that is a perfect one to describe Booth. While we had upper section seating right in the middle, in looking around it seemed to me that most every seat would be a good seat. The will call line to pick up our tix was nonexistent, there were plenty of bar options to choose from so getting a drink was a breeze and the only downer, according to my wife and our two lady friends who were with us, was the lack of stalls in the women's restroom which caused a long wait at intermission. On a side note, we were there seeing the 9th edition of Charlotte Squawks. A must see, laugh out loud show to say the least. read more

I love coming here for just about anything!!! A small cozy-feel from everything to the Will-Call, lobby, bar and seating. The actual playhouse itself is stunning with side-seating and a very intimate feel between you and the stage. When I have been here, the staff has been super helpful and efficient. The bar tries very hard to get your order so you are back in time during Intermission. Very convenient to many restaurants and hotels Uptown. Thanks guys!! read more

I really like the Blumenthal. But they recently changed the chairs from normal theatre seats with arm rests to temporary seating with no arm rests. I'm currently seated between two men having to cross my arms throughout the entire performance to not be touching anyone. It's pretty uncomfortable. I hope that this is a temporary thing and not their real plan. I will think twice about coming to something at the booth playhouse anytime soon. read more

Watched the Hip Hop Nutcracker here over the holidays and the more I go to theatrical productions, the more I think there needs to be a thespian badge. Wonder if this counts for the art badges???..... Anyhow, I was meeting a friend here, who advised me to go in through the Blumenthal entrance. But for the staff, I would have never found Booth. If you've been in there, it's at the top of the escalators to the right. I suppose I've never noticed it because no one is there during normal work hours. The space is quite intimate, but acoustics are fine and all of the seats are good. I was on the side and had to lean over to see things that were taking place adjacent to me on stage right. While I'm not sure if it was this production specifically or the general capability of the theatre, but don't expect a full blown production with moving screens sliding stages, trap doors, disappearing acts, etc. I think it's equipped for a single background and good old fashion acting. I'm always impressed with the ushers and their knowledge. They're always friendly and tend to be of the baby boomer generation - not sure why. That being said, they do a great job. I recommend that you attend a show here as soon as you can and support the arts. In a year's time, there's something for everyone. read more
