    Welcome to the Booth Playhouse

$59.50 for each seat, a total of $119. Okay. Now add $6 "facility fee" and $17.86 "ticket charge" and $10.36 "sales tax" and the total is now $153.22. 16% of the take goes to overhead, not including sales tax of 7.25%. That's a lot. With that said, the venue is great. Easy to access and while not tiny, it still felt intimate and engaging with the performer. I was in the "Left Orchestra" which is weird because it didn't feel orchestra at all. There were only four rows behind me. Tonight, Craig Ferguson on his "Fancy Rascal" tour. Craig is still a terrific comedian and in 90 minutes, not a single joke fell flat. Awesome.

Of all of the Blumenthal venues, I don't come to this one very often. It's a pretty nice little theater though. It's right next to Belk Theater so the parking passes work at Bank of America and 7th Street Station garages. This particular theater is very small, so there really aren't any bad seats. We got tickets in the very back of the balcony and we were still very close. The orchestra is very small and the balcony only has a few rows. I did find the seats to be a little old and uncomfortable. Don't expect much leg room either, but it's the same as other theaters in the area. Overall, I really like the intimacy of this theater and will definitely be back again next time a show is coming through that I want to see.

I really like this theater. It's small, there's not a bad seat, acoustics are good. Saw "Shear Madness" when it was playing here years ago. Most recently, we attended a matinee performance of "Post Secret the Show". (which was very entertaining). Great venue!

Great little theatre. Went on a Friday night to see some jazz, and really enjoyed how intimate it was. There are no bad seats here at all. They serve drinks and snacks and you are allowed to take pics and short vids of the show if you'd like. I parked at the Hearst garage and had to walk down the block to the entrance, but they do not validate Hearst parking tix. If you go, park in the BOA garage and pay only 5 bucks. Seating is first come first serve, so get there early if you're picky about seating.

Deep in the heart of the Bank of America building lies Booth Playhouse. You'll find all sorts of shows here, a bar to the right (with a decent $7 glass of Malbec, if I may add) and overall ease to the take in some theater! Inside, Booth is a bit bigger than I imagined - seating folks on both the floor and gallery levels. Upon a bit more research, I saw that this particular venue seats 434 - seriously, this is impressive considering it's within BoA. Seats and pretty cushy and comfy and there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Acoustics are decent, but I was fairly close during my visit, so I can't speak to the sound levels on the gallery level. Keep an eye out on the Blumenthal site, and/or sign up for advanced notice of what's coming up as this theater can fill up fast! Oh, and do yourself a favor and park within the Hearst Tower garage - it'll be quicker and much more efficient. Woot for culture.

I'll keep this one short and sweet....I'm a fan of this place! I went to see a poetry slam competition. The seats were comfy, the snacks and drinks were reasonable priced and all of the staff were extremely helpful! What more can you ask for? I'm looking forward to attending another event here!

What a cute little theater. I've never even heard of this place but my husband surprised me one night by taking me here for a broadway musical called "First Date". Parking was connected to the building and we walked right across to get there. We checked in our tickets and got a drink at the bar. Someone guided us to our seats. I was so impressed with the seating! They had cabaret style seats as well as stadium seating. We sat in the cabaret seats. We got our own round table with two chairs. It was perfect! I can't wait to come here again!

We've been here a few times for various concerts-performances over the years...most recently, for…read moreKing Crimson and Beethoven Symphony #5...and I've been meaning to write a review, so here goes. First of all, I really like this theater. Of course it's not as big as Blumenthal (Belk), but I love the size of this theater. Due to its size, you always get a good view of the stage wherever you sit (especially referring to the rows downstairs). Also, it's a really nice, clean theater (think renovated recently...but I could be wrong). One thing that could use some improvement is the spacing between the rows of seats. It's so tight, it's truly hard to get past folks in the same row...say, if you arrive a bit late, or is trying to get out! I also noticed that for the last visit, there were some chairs out in the lobby...Yay to that! Lastly, I also like the acoustics at this theater. Everything seems to be on point However, there are a few things that I found a bit offputting. For this last performance, they didn't 't allow any photography now (even without flash?)...which I don't quite get. I DID manage to take a few pics, but before the show started. Good thing...'cuz I didn't realize it was forbidden. Maybe I didn't know any better, but I recall taking pics during the performances in the past. Maybe it's a new policy...or maybe it depends on the performance?? Last thing I wanted to mention was that after the show, there's this sense that they want us out quickly...as in pronto! I don't understand why the place can't be more hospitable, and stay open for at least 30 minutes after the concert...so folks can chat, drink, etc.etc. I mean, it was Saturday night...and really not that late either! On this last concert (Beethoven Symphony #5), they sort of bum-rushed us out by 9:45 pm (concert ended at around 9:30 pm)...and I was basically the last person inside...Why? I was waiting for my husband to pick me up in the car, and I didn't want to stand outside in the cold. Well, at 9:45 pm, I noticed that I was the last one in the place, and the ushers were sort of giving me the eye...basically bum-rushing me out! WOW. I don't recall that happening at any other late-night venue in town...where folks are encouraged to leave only 10-15 minutes, following a concert. So anyway, that's my take on the place. 5 stars for the space, cleanliness and acoustics...but 2 stars for service (not sure how I'd describe this rushing folks out part lol!). Since I'm a fan of this theater, I'll still drop 4 stars...but just wanted to mention that I'm NOT a fan of the near-rude service after the performance.

The ambiance early in the evening is relaxed outdoor seating needs to update the benches they're not comfortable and the woods starting to warp but, decent music, and a solid cocktail menu. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear your conversation and enjoy the atmosphere without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. However, as the night progresses and the vibe shifts into more of a "clubby" scene which ended up being a perfect combo but let's talk charges.. feels steep for what's essentially a modest venue without standout features. Drink prices were high like the cover but not in a way that reflects upgraded quality or service. For the area, there are other spots offering more for the same price or even less but with cozy comforts and inside seating, nicer facilities so it's easy to find things not to love if you come here to support a DJ friend like I did than pay the cover and mingle. It's not a bad place by any means, and the early lounge experience is definitely a highlight followed up with the banging DJ club scene after...it's just the paying premium rates for a relatively average experience for me.

It appears they are trying to be trendy and up-to-date. Remember the objective is to entertain the audience and leave them wanting to come back. Suggest you consider your existing customers. Don't get caught in the Bud Light trap of ignoring your core market to try and get new attendees. The current play "Flick" is a perfect example. Supposedly critically acclaimed, this show was atrocious. The acting was okay, but the story was boring. I have never in my life walked out mid-play, until this one. And to show we were not alone, we got into a traffic jam leaving the parking lot at intermission. Again, the responsibility for meeting customer demand falls on the shoulders of the individuals selecting the plays to present. And the parking is a disaster.
