‍ meh. Ordered suits for a wedding and the business ran out of the style we were supposed to order…read more This is difficult for these locations to keep up with corporates issues. Maybe don't offer suits if you don't have enough in the style? No worries, we ended up going home with a good wedding suit but only after 5 trips in after the mix up.

I've had experiences where the staff helped put together pretty good suits and clothing for specific events. I've generally walked out with about $500. My last experience in Lansing was lacking though. There wasn't the usual opinions and advise about what works best together and putting together a good look. It was very mechanical. I ended up settling on a couple suits, a couple pairs of pants and some shirts and ties. I decided to come back for the fitting the next day. The seamstress was gone and it was late. The attendant said I could come in the next day and to expect to pay about $900 with alterations. After doing some research I found I could get some shirts I preferred for far less at a store next door. I came to get my suits and two pairs of pants. I opted out of the shirts, ties, pocket squares etc. The experience with the day crew was pleasant and the alterations lady was awesome. However the initial bill was $1600. After using a shock tactic of a very high number (the suits was only about $400 and the second one was free and the pants about $100 and the second pair free) the clerk told me about the sale and that I would only be paying $900. This was the new price without the shirts, ties etc. So either the night attendant miss quoted me by a couple hundred dollars or the day clerk was over charging me. I asked about this and the clerk was very short and condescending (as if explaining what I was paying for was not part of his job). Apparently even though I bought about $600 dollars worth of merchandise between taxes and alterations another FEW HUNDRED was tacked on. The inconsistency from attendant to attendant, and huge hidden costs and condescending tone of the clerk (who obviously felt annoyed that I asked about a several hundred dollar markup) made this a bad experience. I would not recommend this place. I hope they properly alter my clothing since I'm paying so much for the alterations. It would be pretty interesting to not 'like the way you look' and pay out the nose. From now on a professional suit store staffed with experts and upfront about their cost is going to be my choice. Small businesses care more and are in it because they are passionate about their trade.

After receiving such a glowing recommendation we were extremely disappointed with the lack of…read morefollow through, poor attitude and lack of helpfulness when our order was not received as promised on Wednesday Sept 26th and then again when it didn't arrive on Sept 28th, as promised. After escalating the situation we were frustrated again when our order did not arrive on Monday. It seemed as though your staff just shrugged their shoulders and said 'oh well'. It isn't easy to find dress clothing for a big and tall person. In the future we will look elsewhere and recommend the same to our friends

We have shopped in this DXL store in Lansing MI for years for 4 members of our family that are tall…read moreand large. Always have had good service. But on 12/15/2017 we had hands-down the ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE of the season. In fact, the worst I may have ever experienced. We had ordered men's slippers, size 15, and got email notice on 12/14/17 that the slippers were in the store and ready for pick-up. We drive 25 miles to the store the next day and they couldn't find the order. When Drue, the manager, pulled "our order" up on the computer, he said it was NOT there, and informed us that what we ordered were a pair of black shoes. I had seen a pair of size 15 slippers in the store as we entered, on a shelf with other slippers for sale, and so I picked those up and said I'd buy them. Drue yelled across 15 ft that I could not buy those slippers!! That I would have to wait for my order to arrive and repeated that I could NOT BUY THEM. When we pressed them to look further at the order they had pulled up, it turned out that it was not our order, and that they eventually found our order, and the older gentleman that was also helping us remembered that the evening before he had put that order behind the check out counter so we could pick them up on 12/15/17. Then Drue actually admitted that he had put our order (which was already paid for) out on the floor for sale. Drue was very rude about this too, and I made a comment that he didn't need to be rude, and then he yelled that I was the one being rude. I told him that I'd be speaking to his manager about his attitude, and he yelled that HE WAS THE MANAGER. I told him everybody has a boss, and I'd be leaving a report about him. So on 12/16/2017, I reported this most unpleasant shopping experience on TELLDESTINATIONXL.COM, which was on my receipt saying they wanted feedback on this purchase. I left my name and phone number, and checked the box that asked if I wanted to be contacted. Here it is, nearly a month later, and no contact. I guess nobody really cares about how that store is run. And coincidentally, I just noticed that it says I would receive a coupon for money off my next order, and I never heard about that either. What a lousy way to run a store. And to ruin a Christmas shopping experience.
