My boyfriend and I decided to go here while looking for places to eat in the area. We're from out of town, so we went to yelp to choose. I cannot say enough about how amazing the customer service here is. The manager himself gave us smoothis to drink while we waited along with extra complimentary treats. They were polite, attentive, and everything you would wish for in customer service. The experience was extremely pleasant considering we decided to go around 11pm. Now, the food was up to par with the customer service. It was authentic middle eastern food. It was all absolutely delicious. Between my boyfriend and I we had the lentil soup, lamb chili, chicken shawarms plate, rice pudding, fries, rice, and another combo plate. Just all absolutely amazing with gigantic portions. First time visiting Boostan Cafe today and seriously don't understand all the hype. We just had the Boostan Shawarma sandwiches which were OK but honestly didn't have a lot of flavor. You can get much better all over East Dearborn for the same money. Maybe I tend to like Lebanese/Syrian food more than Yemeni. This is one of the few (if not only) 5 star restaurant on Yelp that is located in the Detroit area so I expected to have food I would never forget. Instead I had the typical wrap you can get at hundreds of locations all around metro Detroit. People need to eat out more if they consider Boostan Cafe deserving of five stars. read more

Ordered 3 pita wrap sandwiches during a night out with friends, two of them were Lamb Shawarma and one Sautéed Ground Meat one called Baladi something. The total was only 13$ with 20% tip on the Yelp app! The lamb was perfectly seasoned and the sauce was to die for. We asked for garlic sauce in all of our sandwiches and so glad we did! We practically inhaled the sammiches. The Sautéed one was great, just a little saltier than I like, but it was still flavorful! Love this place! My partner and I get it regularly. We always get a platter for two, sometimes with salad (they give you two huge portions, we always get balsamic dressing which is really a jazzed up version of balsamic vinaigrette and is delicious) sometimes with lentil soup (bomb). The hummus is delicious and I love that the platter always has a few chargrilled carrots onions and bell peppers to go along with the meats which are all very good. It's an unassuming spot. Waze had us going the wrong way on Holbrook, into a residential area, but it was easy to find, sharing a parking lot with a party store. It's very small, like the size of the living room in your grandma's 1950's bungalow, with counter service only, and like 2 small tables to sit at while you wait. We were staying in Grosse Pointe, so on the way to our airbnb from the far western part of the county, we checked out yelp and decided to stop in Hamtramck to try this place. Super nice guys working behind the counter, very sweet and helpful, seemed to like each other, and to not hate their jobs, which is always nice as a customer. I always over order in mediterranean places, because, like I mentioned, I love it so much, and I just want to eat it ALL, so we got a small Greek Salad (it was huge, more than enough for the 2 of us, plenty of crumbled feta, beets, whole pepperoncini peppers, and the dressing was good), falafel (excellent, not dry, still visible green herbs in the middle), 2 chicken shwarma sandwiches, and a large side of tabouli (Ahhhmazing, they use mint in it, and the flavor was exceptional) and our bill was like $27. Everything was great, but that shwarma? It's in a class of its own. My friend had never had it, and she was as blown away as I was. Both juices are the BOMB, but I prefer the guava. I think it's 100% blended juice with no additives, so it straight up just tastes like the fruit. For real the best juice I've had in/around Detroit. I'd prefer not to go to those health nut juice bars with steep prices. Everything is pretty affordable, especially if you use the yelp coupon. The only complaint I have is that the chicken sharwarma is inconsistent. Sometimes it's dry, sometimes it's on point, sometimes it tastes like a chicken roast for some reason. Overall I enjoyed my experience at this place. This place had some delicious fries and every table had Sriracha sauce so I just kept snacking on em.
