I decided to upgrade by original hard drive to a solid state drive and took it to GP Geek in The Village. They are right next to CVS on the parking lot side. The iMac models from 2013 onward have their screens glued on so they needed to order the adhesive kit and that took a few days. We were out of town so it worked out perfectly. They replaced my old drive with the new SSD and migrated everything from the old drive. The price was very reasonable and everything is working great. The system now is ready to go in about ten seconds from pressing the power button. This was taking several minutes before. Anything I open is now nearly instantaneous. It basically turned an eight year old machine into a brand new one! I'd definitely recommend Grosse Pointe Geek for any computer work.

People have brought their phones to the "Mall" and have been very dissatisfied and then having to bring their phones to George to fix and maybe even the damage caused from the "Mall" repair people. This happened to me many years ago and I would never go back to the "Mall" for any kind of service. If I decide to purchase a phone on Kijijji or another place I have the person meet me at George's business and ask that he review the health of the phone and whether it is unlocked. This is very important as some people selling phones are not completely honest. Sometime they owe on their bill and sometimes they actually don't own the phone. Also, I was looking for a new cellphone plan and spent too many hours analyzing carriers and plans. I went to George and he helped me find a plan and at an excellent price for my wife and I. He even called and performed the switch from my old carrier to a new carrier right then and there. Just be sure to have your login credentials for the carrier you're switching from. BlackBerry is down to less than 1% of the market, so not very many phone repair shops have any experience with the current/recent BlackBerry lineup. I made over a dozen phone calls to different phone repair places, all with the same result - "We don't work on those. No idea where you could get it repaired". I took my BlackBerry Priv to Japan and the Philippines on a business trip, and even though I used the correct voltage converters in both places, something went wrong, and my phone stopped working. As in, I couldn't even turn it on. These guys fixed it, quickly, and reasonably, and I would recommend their services to anyone. Kudos.
