The commercial center is old and looks to have seen better days. I rode into town on a fine late summer day after the smoke had cleared from several forest fires that had been burning for several weeks near by, one fire threatened homes in the area. The firefighters had moved their base camp out of town to a location some miles to the north where the forest was still burning and on this Saturday morning few people were in town. Pickers is a tiny place with a lunch counter, one table and shelves and coolers with food, soft drinks, beer and wine. The cafe serves mostly fried chicken (precooked--to go), burgers and pizzas. The mushroom-swiss cheese burger has a freshly made beef patty that was good; no pre-formed or frozen hamburger patties. For visitors, Glendale's importance is as one end of an approximately 74-mile long often very narrow forest road system for bicyclists and other travelers to the village of Powers near the Oregon coast. The route is paved and when I last rode it I saw only one vehicle (a backhoe) between Glendale and the Agnes/Gold Beach junction.

Just got back from an early weekday dinner at Jimmy's -- great time to go!…read moreWe've been wanting to check this out for a while now since the new ownership came in earlier this year, and we weren't disappointed! Super friendly and accomodating service, with the whole outdoor dining area now spanking clean, with hanging pots of flowers, too. The food was also great! Hubby had one of Jimmy's classic burgers, and I had a Nathan's hot dog with all of the condiments. With the latter, our server graciously cut the dog into thirds because I knew I wouldn't be able to eat the entire dog. Also, the quality of the meat could be tasted in both orders. We also shared a milkshake-of-the-month--blueberry, from a local farm--and hubby added an order of onion rings. I tried the pickle fries a few weeks ago and they were flavorful, perfectly fried, and not greasy at all. The only reason I've given Jimmy's four stars instead of five is that I'd LOVE to have my hot dog bun warmed, just like it's done in NYC and Chicago. The bun wasn't cold, but room temperature. Hopefully this is an easy fix and is doable. However, we will DEFINITELY be back! :)

My wife ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad (and she…read moreloved it), and I ordered the Wild Thing Burger (beef patty & Pastrami w/cheese) I docked Jimmy's one star, because I specified on my order "no tomatoes please"....while I like salsas, Pasta sauces, etc; I detest raw tomatoes on a sandwich or burger. Was so Famished I didn't bother to check when I bit into the burger...and yup, there were two tomato slices. I. removed them, and said nothing besides showing my wife the discarded things in my tray. She let one of the staff know who asked how everything was, and he was very apologetic. All that being said, Jimmy's does in fact deliver a high-quality product. And my burger could only have been better had it not tomato juice and seeds on it that were in fact taste-detected. As always, the place was immaculately clean, and the staff great.
