I wish I could give 10 stars from the the after hours gal who answered the phone because, she was on top of it and had Michael called me back quickly to Michael himself !! Last evening was very snowy as well as an undercoat of ice on our roads making the roads very dangerous ,but he was still going to make it to our guests in Blowing Rock however, our guests deemed it to dangerous for him to drive and we put our guests in another room for the night instead. Mike was willing and ready this morning to drive to Blowing Rock and solve our no heat issue !! And he did , we had had this issue a few times before and had it checked out with no avail! thankfully Mike figured out the problem and made a family of four and us very happy !! The Technician Luke Broyles, was very professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He throughly checked our HVAC system for any leaks or issues. Did not rush service. We have a home in Florida and in Blowing Rock and have had dealings with a number of different heat and air companies and this company is definitely one of the best. Our 30 year old boiler system went down and we called in the hopes that they could come out ASAP to install a new system before the temperatures went down. They were excellent. They took out the old boiler system and installed a new gas furnace. All their guys were competent and worked the whole time they were here. They were pleasant, respectful and their work was super clean. After the job was completed, we had a question about how the system was tied into our back-up generator and the supervisor himself came out the next morning and showed us how to test it. (It had all been installed correctly.) . We would HIGHLY recommend them. read more

Being new to the area, Boone Heating & Air Conditioning was recommended to me by my community's management company. It was easy to schedule a semi-annual maintenance / system check-up. Since I have never owned a home with a heat pump system, I had quite a few questions. Luke was very patient with me and answered all me questions in detail. He made sure I understood what he was telling me. He also pointed out a few things to look for if the system ever fails to operate outside of their regular business hours. He took his time to explain their safety and efficiency agreement which I did not enter into. I never felt pressured by his explanation. I will request Luke for my fall / winter maintenance / system check-up. I am very pleased with the service I received. read more

As a summer only resident in West Jefferson, I contracted with this company in good faith to service my summer home there as I was only a seasonal resident. I purchased a preferred customer safety and efficiency contract as a protection against unseen problems. My very first problem ended after a one month wait to have repairs completed ended up with me having to contract with another company. This company will promise you anything to get your business. Once they have you their customer service and technical service ends. read more

I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised by the other two reviews I just read. That has not been my experience AT ALL. I own a rental cabin in Boone, and the current system was not installed by them. Yet when my guests told me the heat was out not only did they answer the phone on a Friday night, but were out to the house within an hour or two to fix the problem. It did take a couple more visits to accurately diagnose the problem, but each time they were responsive and kind, and at the house as quickly as they could. Nathan, especially, was super helpful and even came out early one morning before his first stop to try and figure out the problem. I'm now replacing the whole system (it's quite old) and they're able to order and get it in within the next week. With renters coming every weekend this kind of response is crucial, and I couldn't be more pleased with the interactions I've had with them. read more

I would leave a one star if I could. We have a business in downtown Boone and spent all of last summer with no air because they kept telling us they were coming and there was always an issue. Three months later, it was installed. Now this summer, after a botched installation, they are dragging their feet on fixing it, promised to be there this morning to fix it and didn't show up till we were busy and knew that it wasn't fixable today. The lady on the phone was hateful and rude also. Do not recommend. They are supposed to be here Monday to fix it, but I highly doubt it. read more

Used this company, thinking it reputable based on web presence, and knowledge of an employee. Regardless of source, the proof was in the lack of results after some $2000.00 spent. First bill was about $700 for identifying a leak without a nitrogen test; basically a loose screw. They tightened it charged with refrigerant (which was highly marked up). They also identified a cracked piece of plastic surrounding CO2 exhaust, and I was told it would be repaired, but it was not (very dangerous). Next trip was by the salesman with whom I had received prior service through another company. He assessed the entire system, and advised the system could be more efficient with additional duct work, and commented the zone board was working but would be difficult to work on for inexperienced techs. A winter visit was prompted by heating system failure. The tech advised he could not repair the system without a new zone board. The new zone board required new thermostats (replacements for existing stats that were 7 months old). The bill was over $1000.00. The system worked one day. We called the tech over the weekend who installed the zone board. He refused to come out, stating the problem was nothing he was responsible for, despite the fact he was on call for the company. Monday we called at business open and the supervising tech for the company came out. He stated the problem was in the heat pump and made the repair for less than $100. As spring has emerged we used the heat pump, and it ran far too frequently. When warm weather hit, the system shutdown after blowing warm air. The tech that came out said we had a refrigerant leak. He did not use a nitrogen test but felt a pipe that was wet and decided the leak was where the pipe was sweating. I felt this incorrect and asked him to check the entire system, he reported he had and that was the only leak. However, he claimed he could not repair it because of time limitations and lack of refrigerant on the truck. He identified that plastic cover for the CO2 exhaust was cracked. Upset at the fact, it had not been repaired some10 months prior, I asked to speak to his manager. The owner of the business was reached, and I reported the issue and my frustration. He stated they had no record of the repair or even there being a problem. I had asked for itemized records, stating this request was made after their initial visit associated with this discrepancy. He stated he would email all itemized receipts and associate docs forthwith. I requested the system be completely evaluated for leaks. The owner agreed and spoke to his tech. The tech went out and checked the system manually, and not with nitrogen testing. The tech reported another leak at suction release valve of the heat pump. The tech then stated he did not have that part on his truck, and scheduled to come back a week later and make all necessary repairs once he had the parts. A week came, and he showed up to solder the joints he claimed were leaking. He did not have parts necessary to make repairs. He did not replace the refrigerant. The tech did collect over $200 for the two visits, and stated the company would contact me for followup once all the parts arrived. This was a Friday. I contacted the secretary on the following Monday. She had no record of parts being ordered or instructions to order. I requested to speak with the owner. Three weeks later he has not called me back. The day after I called the secretary, I contacted the factory as the system was new as of May 2017. They gave me three names and numbers of qualified companies in the area. I called the last name on the list. They were out within two days and conducted a brief diagnostic, performed a nitrogen test three days later locating a leak in the heatpump unrelated to anything reported by Boone Heating and Air. The replaced the refrigerant and charged half of what was quoted by Boone Heating and Air for the refrigerant. Don't waste your money on Boone Heating and Air. They are the worst!!! read more
