I will update my review if Boomers Audio comes through with quality after the sale service but right now I am not a happy consumer.
Last week, 8 July 2022, at a cost of over $1,400 a radio with two cameras, hands free calling and Apple CarPlay was installed in my vehicle.
A day after the install the hands free mic fell off out of position and was dangling by the wire, the USB charger cable and Apple CarPlay cables were routed inside the glove compartment. Really, who would do this?
I had not been ask or any discussion as to where to mount the hands free mic or USB cables before installation. I thought the USB connections would have been mounted in a free space within inches of the radio and easily accessible to the driver.
The cables being mounted in the glove box makes them impossible in a full sized pickup to be reached by the driver and leaving the glove box door open to keep from jamming lightening cables isn't acceptable.
When I left the business last week I was told if I had any problems or needed assistance to come back so I was under an impression that they would stand behind their work to make things right.
Today, I called about the problems and at first I was told that I would have to pay additional for any rework. After a discussion about the issues it now appears that they may do the rework later this week without additional funds.
If Boomers resolves this problem satisfactorily I will update my review after the work is completed. At this point I am a very disappointed consumer. They didn't!
The radio system they installed the radio is also slightly crooked in the dash.
I was told that I didn't need an appointment for correction of the inferior work performed by Boomers that I could just stop by with my vehicle at my convenience.
During the initial installation the technician broke the accessory plate at the lower portion of the dash and didn't bother to attempt to make this right so this is something else I will have to deal with in addition to an in dash system that is installed crooked.
They state on their website that their work has a lifetime warranty.
Update: 15 July 2022, I was at the business a few minutes after 9:00am and requested that the work be completed on my truck to mount the hands free microphone in the correct position so it will stay in place instead of dangling and place the Apple CarPlay and USB charging cords in a proper place reachable from the drivers seat instead of inside the glove box which is not only impossible to reach but the glove box had to be left open when in use.
The man at the counter told me that there wasn't anyone at the business that could work on my truck to fix their work as everyone had gone to the lake.
I noticed what appeared to be a couple of customers in the business waiting at this time. I was told to come back tomorrow that someone would be there, Saturday to resolve the issues.
I noticed that Boomers claim they welcome work large or small.
I was not able to return until Monday, 18 July 2022. I do not live in Tulsa and with gas prices over $4.00 a gallon this is an expensive trip for me as I am retired and living on a limited income.
I returned on Monday, 18 July 2022 and I received rude treatment. I was told that on Friday the shop had been busy with a job that paid a lot more than mine.
I let her know that I had been told on Friday they had all gone fishing. She wanted to charge me $500.00 to put a plate onto my dash to move the USB plugs from the glovebox to the dash. I said no, I am not paying $500.00 for a plate.
The USB cords were moved from the glovebox to dangling below the dash. This is very poor customer relations and I will have to go elsewhere to have the shoddy work performed at Boomers installed correctly.
Plates to mount the USB connections can be purchased on Amazon for under $20.00 and they wanted to charge me $500.00. What a markup. This should have been calculated in the initial charges as Sandy looked at the interior of my pickup before writing up the order.
The audio merchandise installed by Boomers does have a very high markup of approximately seventy (70) percent from what the same merchandise can be purchased for from Best Buy, Amazon or other sources.
The labor hours calculated to perform installations are excessive which also drives up the cost.
I do not recommend taking a vehicle to Boomers. I wish I had purchased my audio/video equipment at Best Buy and paid the Geek Squad to perform the installation. I trusted Boomers for my first and last time. Buyer Beware. read more
