When none of it appeared on the service records, I asked, and was told the work was done in-house. When I arrived to test drive and put a deposit down, they had double-booked us with another couple trying to buy the same car. During the test drive, the salesman admitted the tires hadn't actually been installed yet -- their policy is to put the bare minimum street-legal tire on the car, giving you about 25k miles, unless you pay extra for better ones. There was also considerable confusion about out-of-state registration. One person told me I could transfer my plates (which is correct, and my insurance agent confirmed it). Another told me I would "go to jail" if I got in an accident on the way home. I paid $199 for a pre-purchase inspection at Quality Subaru -- the shop that had serviced this car nine times since 2023. Their records showed none of the advertised work had been done. Their inspection found all four tires worn to 5/32 and scalping, both front axles needing replacement, oil leaking from the front engine cover and both valve covers, transmission fluid leaking from the oil pump cover, a cracked drive belt, and an alignment issue. When the report came back, rather than the person I was emailing with or the person that was there when I test drove it calling, a third employee called to refund my deposit and tell me they knew I'd want my money back and would sell the car for more. My deposit was refunded. But the work described in the listing had not been performed, and I only found out because I paid for an independent inspection. Get a PPI and ask for the service history by VIN.

Told by the other places they didn't weld, only bolted, and would need to have the exhaust pipe replaced from the 2 catalytic converters back to muffler/tailpipe. Someone mentioned Morrell's. Called and had the work done...$200 plus tax, and only about an hour of time. Really impressed and satisfied with the work they did. They even welded a small crack in the section between the two catalytic converters at no extra charge! Great job, affordable, very professional and polite... and a local family-owned business. Will definitely be going back and recommending to other people.

The experience went very well…read more I had to buy a motor, which no one ever wants to do, but these things happen. Fortunately, I have the means to transport one, which led me here. I was able to Facebook message Mike, and we worked out a great cash price on a VQ37 with 81k miles on it. Just $1100! Sure, might have found something slightly cheaper online, but having a motor shipped in sight unseen? Yikes, no thanks. And after all the work, the motor is simply EXCELLENT. My 370z (flex) spins like a top now... frankly it runs even better than the day I got it. Partial credit to the shop that did the work, and the remainder here for selling me a good engine. The one tiny little gripe is that dude at the front desk with the bluetooth headset and the glass surrounding his work area like a hockey rink. I mean, what IS that? Why work at a *front desk* if you are clearly trying to shield yourself from the outside world as you do... whatever the hell it is you do. Fortunately, there are other people working here. Anyway, thanks for the motor, I'll be back... but hopefully not for another motor ;).
