Couldn't help replying with " thanks dude no exceptions I take it?" and she glared at me. In my region of South Central PA there are several of these locations I'm sure I'll find something and a much better experience from the staff. Just a shame I was here celebrate their grand opening a few years ago.

Goodwill was another spot I hit up my birthday weekend thrifting extravaganza in Hagerstown. It's…read moreconveniently located within walking distance to both the Hope Center Thrift Store and World Market thrift. Conveniently it has its own lot(s) one on the store entrance side of the building and another on the donation store to the rear. It's located on a busy city street in a mixed commercial/residential neighborhood. Although the police station is close by I would consider this area a little questionable. It was fine during the day but probably different at night. With that being said I was surprised by this Goodwill location as it's different from any other I visited on the east coast. EVERYTHING IS .99 CENTS, with the exception of mattresses and drinks. I really don't know why it's priced that way or if clearance from other location eventually end up here but the quality was decent. I only saw a few pieces that were flawed by rips or wear so I do think it goes thru a sorting process of some sort. I'd say 95% of the store consists of clothing - all hung and organized by item and loosely by size (meaning organization wasn't perfect). The house ware dept was meager at best and mostly bare. There were some books and videos in the back. The store itself is pretty basic and utilitarian. No displays, just racks and racks of clothes, spaced well so it was easy to navigate. Social distancing was also not a problem and everyone was masked. I did see what appeared to be dressing rooms but not labeled as such. Every thrift store I encountered that weekend, other Goodwill's included, were not allowing trying on of clothes due to covid. I walked out with a few decent pieces of clothes for my grandkids feeling satisfied.

Wonderful little farm in the middle of nowhere so be prepared to get lost the 1st time around :)…read moreCame here with a group and received a thorough guided tour of the farm. A few interesting facts: - They rescue neglected/abused animals including dogs, cats, potbellied pigs, and more. - Their operating costs are $25k + monthly - Must make an appointment for a visit or group tour - Some of the rescues they take in are animals that were previously used for racing, fighting, etc. Some of the cats & dogs came from animal hoarders. You will find that a visit to the farm is very humbling. For many of us, it's out of sight, out of mind when it comes to animal cruelty. We just don't think about it on a daily basis but when you visit the farm & hear the stories & see firsthand the effects of what these animals have been through, it can be life changing. Overall, a wonderful place to bring a group of kids, adults or just gather some friends for a fun & enlightening afternoon.

Everyone is always so friendly and personable, as well as gentle when actually taking the blood. It really makes me want to keep coming back, which is why I have donated as many times as I have so far. I'm just so pleased and proud of the people I've gotten to interact with for each of my donations, they really add to the positivity and importance I feel after donating. I appreciate that, and it also makes me want to encourage others to give it a try. Everyone's different, some have a harder time being comfortable with even the thought of blood. But I encourage you to give it a chance, these folks will take care of you and it's a pretty awesome, overall easy way to really help someone. Kudos, Red Cross. Keep it up!

Maryland Food Bank thrives off of weekend volunteer hours for packers in their conveyor belt area to box canned goods and boxed foods as they'd otherwise have to bill these hours to payroll. I enjoyed myself and even got in a little cardio as the belt moved more and more foodstuffs through. I was in charge of canned veggies and boy were there lots of them.
