Honestly the best bookstore I've ever been too... tons of great stuff, good prices on…read morerare/antique/vintage books, and the most incredible customer service I could ask for. There was a small hiccup/misunderstanding with a large set of books I purchased from them (it was missing one volume out of 150) and the owner went out of his way to make it right. He ordered me the missing volume and had it mailed to my house since I live two hours away. This was my second trip to Blue Plate and I will always make sure to stop by whenever I'm in the area.

This store is supposed to be one of the smallest in the chain, but doesn't show it. Large selection of books, comics, DVD/Blu-ray's, and toys/collectables. If you don't know about 2nd & Charles, most of the items are used trade-ins from other customers, so you can never be sure what will be in stock. We had several questions about prices of items behind the counter which were quickly answered and the employees were helpful. Had a good selection of Manga but a smaller selection of Anime DVD/Blu-ray's. A large selection of comic longboxes were available, but per other 2nd & Charles their organization was not the best. Overall, store was clean and organized with an on-par selection of items compared to other stores. I would return here again.

I went to Shippensburg University and worked in this town for seven years, and never once did I find my way into this shop, but I am so glad that I found it now. It's hidden back an alleyway, and while there's a small sign out front that you can see from the street, you need to know where it is or you'll miss it. The selection available at the Book Junction is truly the best in any shop I've visited. I walked in looking specifically for one book (Neuromancer by William Gibson), and not only did I find it (seriously I've visited 8 other bookstores including Barnes and Noble and none had it), but I also found books five OTHER classic science fiction books I'd been unable to find elsewhere too. Paperback books are generally priced half off of whatever the publisher's price was on the book, which is pretty reasonable. The owner told me this mom and pop shop has been open for 23 years this year. Do yourself a favor and go check the Book Junction out. It's one of the absolute best I've come across and you won't be disappointed!

What an absolute gem of a bookshop The Book House is in Dillsburg! I cannot convey in words just…read morehow delightful this place is - it's everything you'd hope for in a small, hole in the wall, everything's cramped but also clearly well maintained "there's hidden treasure everywhere" kind of place. The selection of used books is astounding, and the varying levels of quality was unexpected too - nothing was garbage, and while there are clearly used books here, there are also really nice, mint level books too. To give you an idea of the scope of books I'm talking about here, I left with a mint paperback of Starship Troopers from 1997, and a high quality copy of the published 1896 Pennsylvania School Laws (yes, that's a very old book). The staff are incredibly helpful and know their inventory well - don't be afraid to ask for help finding something if you've spent 20 minutes lost in treasure hunting mode. I cannot stress enough how great The Book House is - it is the quintessential used bookshop where you'll find yourself fully immersed in the browsing experience. Check it out whenever you get a chance!

It's larger than it looks from the outside (there's even an upstairs with used/old books that would be easy to miss, since the staircase is sort of hidden behind a wall of the shop), and they have a pretty great selection for a small independent bookshop. I just needed one book (I thought I might finish the memoir I'd brought with me on my weekend trip to the area), but I left with...3? I can't even remember. I kept finding more intriguing books! It's charming, has a great inventory, and seems a great shop! With so many independent and even chain bookstores closing, it feels like a lot of towns/neighborhoods don't have a bookshop anymore. Shepherdstown residents are lucky to have a shop as wonderful as Four Seasons - a place big enough that you can browse and find a book you didn't even know about before you wandered in. Really a charming shop. I'd happily return if I make to Shepherdstown again!

It's not huge but it has a lot of variety and the prices are fairly reasonable for what is offered. What's really cool about the place is that they not only have the regular used books selection, they also have a good handful of vintage, pulp fiction type paperbacks from the '50s and earlier. They also have a good selection of First Editions that they keep under lock and key and go for some serious bucks. Of course, being in a WV tourist destination, they also have a little area for locally made soaps and lotions and the like. Not a lot. Just enough to make a couple more bucks. If you like browsing through a used book store, this is a great place to spend some time.

Hooray for independent book stores…read more I was skeptical when I decided to come here. The photos I found online made the place look.. well a little on the rough side. Once I got there - it was spacious, clean, and modern. It is on the small side for a book store, but the selection of kids to young adult books was outstanding. They also have adult books, lots of toys and trinkets - and is a general pleasure to walk around. The staff was very friendly, and more than willing to answer the questions we had (including where to get lunch). I was disappointed that they didn't have a changing table (considering the large children's section) - but there is a family restroom across the street at E.W. Becks pub.
