A huge selection of new books, in both full price and bargain areas, are provided with nice well marked spaced shelves making browsing a nice experience! On this visit we picked up an armful of reading material that will keep us satisfied for some time! Books-A-Million is a great place to get someone a gift or to get someone for myself. My husband loves to read and we also have lots of friends who enjoy a good book. This store in the Avenue Viera shopping center is roomy and well laid out. As many people are not buyers of paperbacks nor hardcover books anymore, BAM has been able to diversify into toys, Manga, e-books, records and many other types of merchandise that make coming to the stores, a fun experience. BAM! Emeril would love this place for that reason along. Books-A-Million is a cool store with lots of books for sale. With all of the BAN (Barnes & Nobel) stores closing, it's good to see BAM still going and going and going. Borders is long gone as is B Dalton (with one exception in Oviedo, FL). There are a lot of bookstores that start with "B". This store is pretty big and has lots of different sections from the miscellaneous junk at the front of the store to the huge wall of magazines in the back. But it's not called Junk-A-Million or Mags-A-Million, and there are lots of books to be seen! The sections are marked OK, but it may take a while to find the section you're looking for. The staff is helpful in finding what you need too, so feel free to ask. There's also a Joe Muggs coffee inside, which you'd think would be absolutely amazing based on the first part of the name. On one occasion here, it didn't seem to be open. The coffee shop next door (to the left when facing BAM), serves up a good bold cup. When I head to Vierra for shopping (usually at Total Wine), I'll probably make BAM a stop to see what they have here. You never know what you might find. read more

Great selection of books! Isles and isles of all kinds and genres. Are the prices a little high, yes. But it's nice to browse each isle and they have a coffee shop inside. They will push the magazine subscription at check out. They say it's easy to cancel, it's not. So avoid that. Other the. That friendly helpful staff, clean and has that new book smell, the bathrooms are just decent, they could use some improvements. It's really a book lovers paradise. read more

When you walk in, the smell of books immediately hits you. It smells exceptional. The coffee restaurant reminds me of my grandmother. She loves coffee. It's always with her. She even got coffee at the Panera Bread down the street from here. The books are all organized, which is very tremendous efforts from the employees. I would recommend this place for somewhere to relax after a very adrenaline-filled event. Back in the last decade, Books-A-Million (which I will abbreviate to BAM for the rest of this review) was located on US-192 right across from Melbourne Square Mall. It was my favorite book store to visit. Unfortunately, it could not compete against the powerhouse Barnes & Noble (B&N) right near it and eventually closed up. Fast forward to when The Avenues in Viera opened up and behold, BAM returns. To be fair, they may have not closed down but moved as not to be next to competition. It has been some time since BAM opened up in The Avenues in Viera. With the onset of digital books, brick-and-mortar bookstores are closing up at record speeds. The question is if BAM is still worthy of being open in a digital world? The answer is yes. One of the advantages BAM has compared to its closest competitor B&N is the fact it is located in one of the most popular locations in Melbourne, FL let along the Space Coast. The Avenues in Viera has numerous popular stores and venues partnered with weekly events that bring in the crowds. This can only help in increasing the patronship for BAM. Secondly, BAM has kept up with the dynamic of changing times, staying relevent for younger generations of readers yet not abandoning older ones either. At its core, BAM is still a brick-and-mortar book store with rows and rows of books touching on any genre or subject. However, it has included goods and services that are trending or up-and-coming such as vinyl records, certain toys and games, and even their own line of ebook readers. To top everything off, BAM has their own coffee shop. It may not have the same pizazz and selection its competitor B&N has in Melbourne, FL, but given the fact there are numerous other restaurants in The Avenues in Viera that outshine the coffee shop, it is not too much of an issue. Overall, it is a great place to enjoy a book along with a cup of joe. The only gripes I have about BAM is the fact their prices are somewhat higher than competitors. It also doesn't help their selection is technically smaller than B&N. Those two together are the reason why I am giving this review four out of five stars. Despite all that, it is a solid bookstore and worth your time if you are in the area. read more

You have books offered by retail stores, then there is Books A Million. A place where one can actually sit and read a bit to decide whether or not the book is worth the price. Having a Joe Muggs is a plus to take a break from scanning the enormous amounts of authors offering whatever it is one desires to delve into. Much like a library there are sections based on topic. The staff are bright and friendly and offer to help at times without having to be asked or hunted down. Clean and comfortable and very easy to lose track of time, it is a delight not to feel pressured. This location is packed inside an outlet complex where just around the corner is multiple local pubs and eateries. Buy a bra, pants, swimwear and many other items as well. Remember knowledge is power so stop by the Books A Million before anywhere else. A frequent buyers program gives more discounts and advantagea than one might imagine, so ask the feiendly customer sales associate or just look around. read more

A great bookstore - lots of selection This location is in the Viera Towne Center and so, with all the other shops, parking may be limited. It is a good bookstore. Besides the various books, there are also gifts for purchase in the front and magazines in the back of the store. The staff was friendly and they had several books that I wanted. Book prices, everywhere, are getting higher but this is comparable to online prices for new books. They have a good stock of books of most genres and a fair science fiction/fantasy section. All of the employees at this store are knowledgeable and will help you anyway they can. I don't remember everyone's names, but one that does stand out is an employee named Oliver. I stopped in for a quick "look-see" before I met my friends at the nearby Rave movie theater. I give this location the 1st Star for amazing pumping COLD AC in this massive wide space. Was a GREAT cool of for a hot summer day (however see last note below). However, finding the sections were a bit difficult. The headings were in the middle of the row & hard to find. I think this needs to be reorganized. I hate that the sale books, which were some of what I was looking for, were completely taken out of their normal section & put on a random sale aisle or table. So I had to make sure to check the section the book I was looking for should b e in PLUS the sale aisles & sale tables so I didn't miss anything. You may MISS your specific book entirely, if it is on sale. It is extremely rare to find someone to help you, the customer service reps & staff here were all busy. So it seemed crowded to me. I found one person to help me, she went to the aisle I had already looked at, "I don't see it." I didn't either. I had already checked it. I figured she would naturally look it up on the computer to check stock or something - wouldn't that be the most logical solution? I guess not. I give it extra stars for the massive amount of books at GREAT prices & for having Hello Kitty items. I LOVE Hello Kitty. It's rare to find Hello Kitty books PLUS dolls & toys in a booksture - this one had them. Typically most Books-A-Million do. I was happy to see some were on clearance. YAY! If you have kids, they have a great well priced kids section. But, it is kinda messy, of course - kids will be kids. NOTE: I took off stars for the most odd thing about this place. I was shocked when I had to use the restroom in this nicely air conditioned space .... Avoid Ladies Restroom!!! It was the Hottest I've ever been in in my entire life, I almost died of heat stroke upon entry. MINUS mega stars. Opening the doors to the Restroom alone could cause one serious gastrointestinal problems. Yikes! read more

I was wondering if I along with the person behind me will be turned away since the previous order was done at 10 pm. However, my order was taken and the so was the person's behind me!! There is no way this business model can survive. The rent alone on the equivalent of four stores in this overpriced shopping plaza has got to be debilitating. Regardless of my sympathy, I will always have a special place in my heart for book stores. After a decade or so here, the decor is dated, the lighting has dimmed, but the selection and service remain strong. This store remains clean and organized, which, considering the inventory, is no small task. Their Joe Muggs cafe remains the only real coffee shop in the Avenue, and their coffee and hot chocolate is awesome. Spend some quality time and money here while you can, and savor your memories of one of the surviving book stores. You too are going to miss it when it's gone. I'm still upset over Blockbuster. I go into Books A Million on a regular basis. The selection is good, the store is well run and kept clean. All the employees are eager to help you and volunteer their services to you immediately. They even say hello when you walk in. All the employees here are great. I am going to give kudos to one employee in particular by the name of Oliver. Books are so expensive, no wonder why everyone owns a nook and kindle now. I met Glenn Beck here so if you keep high profit people coming on and over charging me for a signed book I may just keep coming. There was a screaming child in the store, but they kept them by the bathroom. Right next to the no screaming children in store sign, people are reading. Came here for a business meeting with a great group of guys on some new music that will be coming out. I like this bookstore because it has a café area. I love BAM! The sales books are always a lot fun. I got some awesome low priced items for my kids and even found something that I was interested in. I did however ask for help locating something and the associate only looked on the computer and rattled off a couple of authors and led me on my search without further help. I used to work at a book store and would never just tell some one where to find something, but would actually lead them to where it is located. I dislike their strong attempts to sell more a membership card. I do not believe it is a good deal and would appreciate it if they would listen when I tell them no. This is another chain I didn't know existed ;-). I quickly popped in and out so mostly just perused the sale books. The service rep was friendly in showing me where to find the book I came in looking for when I was visiting my sister. (I have a bad habit of reading all my book club books in the evenings when visiting her. Sometimes I have them shipped to her beforehand via Amazon and sometimes I forget to ...) But I guess I may become more familiar with Books-A-Million as I have heard they have bought some Border's stores in California. I can spend hours upon hours in this book store....well any book store really. However, I love that they give a discount when you sign up for this card. A friend of mine gave me her card and I have been reaping the benefit all over Central Florida. I especially wanted to recommend this store because I found the best cook book for chinese food. I gotta get cracking and start making some of these recipes. read more
