Always great food, and in such a lovely location. Can't wait for it to re-open for lunch after Covid.

Pretty darn hip y'all. Eighty Six is definitely one to hit while you're living/visiting Canberra…read more Its a small but well formed space and the best seats in the house are for sure over the kitchen. Order one (duck bun) or two (another duck bun) starters and watch young chefs show off their skills. Eyeball their creations and let that help you decide what to order next. At a glance the menu could be Italian - scratched onto a dark wall in white chalk - but when you read (el loco hot dogs, ceviche taco) its more City of Angels (Ghetto Beef) meets mod Euro (sangria ragu parpadelle). My one dish recommendation is the Lemon Ricotta gnocchi with asparagus. *Drool* . I just need to get over the prices! Is all Canberra this way?? EightySix feels like a passion project of the new school cool. Dude chefs. Dude food. Dude music. Dude, it's good.

A friendly staff is there to greet and seat. Everyone was knowledgeable about the menu, what went into what and how it was prepared. Good job of enlightening the crew who all knew what to do or feild any question. Plunk this hot spot down in New York or LA and blows the clouches of Momofuku or Trois Mec. The physical plant is warm and the atmosphere sizzling. Prime spots are at the bar just 18 iinches away from the kitchen infantry mad prepping and plating a constant assembly line of the good stuff. And good stuff it is. The menu changes quicker than Bruce Jenner's gender, so if you really lust after something (the food, not Jenner), go twice in a week. The Vitello Tonnato was a deconstructed version, and me, personally, I prefer it as if Marcella Hazan made it. Straight forward as it was originally created, but here the separated components really work and give you a chance to savor each layer of flavor. Like moving the egg off the Eggs Benedict. Ghetto Beef was nothing any self respecting ghetto dweller could ever afford. A ghetto in Canberra? Paleeze. A ghetto of YUPS and DINKS maybe. Cutsy name notwithstanding this was a terrific dish. Chunks of spoon tender Wagyu beef and aioli all spread out over a plate of Rocket. Cauliflower with Dukkah was perfect too. Crisp florets dusted with house made North African spice took me back to my days in Cairo (and I thought nothing would get me back there). A Pickled Terrine of Pork with Tartar Sauce tickled my fancy as well. This was surprisingly good. No surprises or duds in this place as everything was spot on. Then it happened. I watched the cook in front of me at the bar whack off the crispy end of a freshly grilled Roo Tail. Into the trash bin it went. It was all I could do to keep from lungeing like a Manchester United Goalie over the counter to collect those tasty chef's nibbles. You'd pay extra for them "Burn'd Ends in Chicago or Kansas City. Having that snipped tip tossed was such a waste. (Just ask Bruce Jenner). The chef smiled and said the Roo medallions needed to be uniform in size for presentation. Next time I plan to take my own BBQ fork and spear them before they're dispatched. Finally, Banoffee Pie landed before me. A Dulce de Leche Tart, Banana, Whipped Cream and Crushed Pretzels was decadent but even so, leaned to the light side if such a dessert can manage it. And it got washed down with a brace of Espresso Martinis. Frangelico, Amarettto, and Espresso in a glass. After two of those I was both wobbly and bolt upright at the same time. The full bar is solid and rocks. I'm no mathematician, but I know I can always count on you, 86.

Their Artisan bread and pastries are made in store and are pretty popular, so be sure to get there early. It's a small spot with minimal decor and only a few tables to eat at, so it's best to grab what you want as takeaway. Do you prefer their silo sourdough, rye sourdough volkornbrot, kingston, white sourdough, stirato crusty italian bread, french style white baguette, ciabattini small italian style square rolls or french style roll? So many to pick from. I buy a loaf of the walnut and cranberry for later, can't wait to eat it! Maybe you're a croissant fan - plain croissants, almond croissants, butter brioche, pain au chocolate, Orange & Pistachio Snail, Custard & Raisin or our pick of the day, the "Evie" - apple, almond & raisin in croissant pastry. Crispy and super tasty. They also have a rhubarb galettes and pear galettes From the savoury options there's quiche, pies and sausage rolls and boreks as well as sandwiches. You can even eat in at their cafe with omelettes, eggs, French toast or muesli and a coffee.

Hi, I am emailing today asking for help! There is a staff…read moremember here in Canberra ACT that is abusing and refusing to serve customers. Today at 10th January 2026 1:30pm Woden/Phillip Westfield Dibinsons. 3 staff members 2 female 1 male(short bad tempered manager) decides chatting amongst themselves was a better thing to do rather than serve my wife while she was in a rush on lunch break wanting something to eat. The male(which claims to be the manager) looked straight at my wife made eye contact while she was on the phone to me(her husband) and decided to ignore her attempts to purchase a couple of pies for lunch while she was the only person standing at the counter. She waited about 10 minutes hoping one of the lady's working would help but they to looked at her and ignored her. My wife felt unwelcome and ostracised by his behaviour and left to go back to work after having not eating anything for lunch. This short male staff member has done this multiple times to my wife and due to his behaviour last year my wife stopped attending dobinsons altogether. I have made multiple reports in store regarding, his behaviour, him swearing at me, refused service, called names while walking by dobinsons while he is on shift and even being threatened and told to meet him after work for a physical altercation. Still after all my attempts to report this unethical unfriendly aggressive behaviour nothing seems to have been done and he is still refusing to serve my wife and yelling out to me over the counter while i walk past the dobinsons at Belconnen. I was informed by the tall manager last year at belconnen dobinsons that he had been spoken to. So my wife and i were able to make purchases at Robinson's again. But after today it is apparent that the short aggressive male(manager) doesn't care about the reports made last year nor does he care about upholding a professional manner while attending/working at dobinsons. If possible to have the Short male manager even moved to Tuggeranong so neither my wife nor I have to be subjected to this kind of treatment it would be really appreciated. Not sure how someone acting like this treating customers like this is allowed to remain employed. But I think at the very least he should not be allowed to attend the Woden/Phillip nor the Belconnen Dobinsons from now on. When I find a way to take this report higher or directly to someone I will send another email/message. Thankyoy for your time. Kind regards,
