I stayed at the colocated East Hotel and had breakfast here every day for a week. Its an unusual cafe/restaurant in that it is colocated with a small book store. As far as I can tell, Muse is part book store, part cafe. Anyway, I like their food. The food you get here is not your typical breakfast fare, its better. The chef has taken the time to craft interesting, unique and tasty items for breakfast, and the menu changes seasonally. I tried many different things, including the cocoa waffles with vanilla bean custard, the wagyu beef steak, the porridge, and the toast with jam. All the things I had here were good. Their hash browns were the best I've ever had. They also serve tea, coffee and a variety of juices. The juices were a real treat - they actually make the juice from whatever fruit, so we are talking about fresh-squeezed orange juice and things like that. They will also mix the juices together for you. I think I had apple-carrot-ginger juice several times. Very good! So I liked the restaurant, I liked the modern atmosphere, but one thing I did not like was their prices. Its difficult to have breakfast there for less than $15; I was often around $20, and once hit $30. I am not a breakfast person, and would never pay that much for breakfast normally. Last time I stayed at the East Hotel, I ate breakfast at the Ox eatery, but they were closed during this trip. As such, I had no other options for breakfast. I think the quality of the food usually justifies the price, but it is frustrating to pay so much when you have a lack of other options. Overall, I'd say its good, especially if you like breakfast foods and you want something a little special. read more
