Such a lovely place with great owners and great food. Just looking at the whole house is fascinating, but the grounds are beautiful, too. Lovely, gracious host and hostess made the stay even better. Thank you so much, Stacie and David.

Booked this a day before our travel from Orange Beach to Canyon Lake, Stacie was checked in with us for our arrival times. We arrived a bit after we had planned, due to traffic, David was quick to get us checked in and show us around. The main house had AMAZING decorations for the holiday season.. More than you could ever imagine. The main house was mind boggling to me. We got upgraded to the "pool house" and it was so quaint. The bed was comfortable and the bath and shower were great. Breakfast and life stories by David were just what we needed after months of traveling. Thank you! We definitely recommend and will be back when our travels allow.

My wife and I stopped here on a trip east from San Antonio. David was friendly on the phone and let us make a last minute reservation. When we arrived, Stacy gave us a tour of the house. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. The attention to detail continues throughout the house. From the dining room to the spacious patio (with pool, hot tub, and hammock), the game room (with a pool table and a wii), the theater, and the little library everything was well planned. Our room had a spacious private bathroom, with shower and 2-person jacuzzi tub. The room itself was well furnished. A wonderfully soft queen sized bed, flat screen tv, and a desk. A delicious breakfast was served the next morning. Everything was homemade and uniquely prepared. We were the only guests so we were able to enjoy nice conversations with both David and Stacy. My only regret / disappointment with our stay is that it wasn't long enough.

The owners decorated the bridge just for my wedding!

La Maison In Midtown - Beautiful, spacious room

La Maison In Midtown

Midtown, Fourth Ward

Grace. Charm. Attention to detail. Convenient. Strategic. Stellar…read more These describe La Maison. I chose for us to stay at this beautiful black- and women-owned establishment after I read about it on Travel Noire, and I don't plan to stay anywhere else on future trips to Houston. The rooms are immaculate. We had a beautiful suite with a private wrap-around balcony with two bathrooms, a parlor, and a large bedroom. The ceiling are high and the rooms are large, and this cannot be replicated by a hotel. I was surprised how quiet it is in the area overnight and in the early morning, given the midtown location. The breakfast was wonderful, delicious, and made based on our dietary preferences. We felt heard and understood. We have no negative words for this gorgeous place and the beautiful people who run it. We felt safe in the private parking lot behind us. There are cameras that are monitored outside. There is security code access to enter the building during your stay obtained when you check in. I, during our stay and given my Francophilia,, called it "The House," because we had all of the amenities of home here and given the original French meaning of the name of the spot. Thank you. Bravo!

She was very helpful with a slightly early check in when we had an event to get to in the city and also helping us with check out to figure out how we could see the city and return for our things at the hotel since we had a late flight. La Maison is in a great location in Midtown - although I know public transport is not big in Houston, it's not far from the redline stop (maybe a ten minute walk) and we took average of this to go to the museum area and downtown. La Maison has great facilities with a spacious living and dining room, and even an elevator! (Not common in most bnbs and a welcome surprise during check in). The freshly cooked breakfast was exceptional - our appreciation to the chef!

I would say the decor is very old fashion lounge with there being a mix of table with chairs or chairs paired with a couch. Our server seemed very nice but a bit new as she could not tell me if one of the teas was decaf right away. Also, I made a note that I could not have tuna but they took this as I could not have fish so they gave me two chicken salad sandwiches instead of the salmon even though I had stated on the phone salmon was fine. She also could not describe one of the desserts but overall she was very pleasant. The amuse bouche was - interesting ( a strawberry with cream cheese) I didn't hate or love it. I didn't think the cream cheese added anything tbh. We had one dessert on the table waiting for us before we said down - a English parfait that had a white chocolate mouse, cake, and fruit. I loved it although it was a bit strange to have dessert already sitting at your table before you got your sandwiches but I am a dessert first girl so didn't matter to me other than it was constantly calling my name. You don't get to choose your tea and the two tea options are both black which is a lot of caffeine. The sandwiches themselves come across as unassuming but they are great and very filling. Each one has a different bread which was cool. Although not a fan of cucumber, the bread was milky and so soft. All the sandwiches were fantastic. Honestly, I was so full from the tea and sandwiches, I took the desserts home. One big misstep in service was the server forgetting to serve the second tea. I had to ask for it and by the time we got it, we were tea'ed out. You are gifted a box of macarons at the end - we almost left ours but our server ran and got us in time. I definitely had a great time, there were small incidents that stopped it from being 5 stars. Paying 79 dollars for tea is a bit pricy so I would expect a bit more precision and maybe more choice in tea?

Service was impeccable during our one-night visit from check-in to checkout. There are snacks in the lobby and chilled Rose' wine is offered in the lobby in the late afternoon. Our standard room was excellent with a large shower and a bed that was beyond comfortable. We were overlooking the pool area, and it looked mighty inviting, maybe next time. We loved seeing all the old movie posters and unique décor in the lobby and conference rooms. Even the restrooms have themes! This is a high-end property, and it will put a dent in your CC, but we both felt it was well worth it.

While I understand mistakes happen, what was completely unacceptable was the way the situation was handled afterward. When I called the front desk for help, I was met with rudeness, attitude, and skepticism, as though I was making the situation up. The front desk manager was dismissive and unhelpful, despite the fact that I even offered to personally look through the dirty linens to find my clothing. Two days later, the hotel finally called to say they had found my shirt, only to then ask me to pay for the shipping label to have it returned. No apology. No accountability. No acknowledgment that I was left scrambling and forced to borrow clothes from others in order to attend my event because of their mistake. To make matters worse, the concierge kindly assured me that his manager, Daisy Lopez, would be reaching out to address the situation. Despite following up twice, I never heard another word from the hotel. The issue was never the mistake itself, accidents happen. The issue was the complete lack of professionalism, empathy, accountability, and customer care afterward. For a hotel that prides itself on luxury and reputation, this experience was an absolute disappointment.

[The Staff] Every staff member knew my family, and they really went above and beyond to make up feel welcome and provide encouragement. The kindness shown by the staff was incredible. For over two months, I didn't have a single negative encounter. [Housekeeping] The only negative thing about the stay is the housekeeping. Unfortunately, housekeeping was very subpar. I actually went out and purchased cleaning supplies, so I could clean the room myself. The staff spot cleaned. For example, they would remove the dishes from the counter and place them in the sink, but the counter would be dirty/sticky from the food. I also had an issue with them making the beds. I believe I had a queen sized bed, but the bedding they provided was for a full sized bed. The fitted sheet didn't even stretch across the entire bed. After days of this, I called to tell them I need the correct size. They quickly swapped them out for me. I'm a stickler about making beds in the morning, so I would do that, but housekeeping would come later and re-make it, which was annoying because they tuck the sheets in so tight I have to muster up all the strength in my body to pull them back. One minor thing I found annoying is housekeeping comes by every single day, even if you have the do no disturb hanger on your door. The don't do a full service cleaning each day, but they do stop by every single day to see if you need anything. [Dining] There is a restaurant/bar downstairs that has daily specials. We never ordered anything, so I can't speak to the food. The one time I was going to order, it was $90+ for 3 personal pizzas, so I decided to DoorDash instead. There is a kickback each evening, but we weren't a fan of any of the offerings. Also, we were almost always away during that time. The free breakfast was nice. It can get very crowded on the weekends and close to closing (9am on the week days & 10am on the weekends). I would also try to go at around 7:30am. At that time, the breakfast area is practically empty. The food was the same every day. They have fruit (melon & cantaloupe), yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, waffles, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, breads+bagels, blueberry muffins, and cinnamon rolls. The bacon was always hard and inedible but everything else was good. [Parking] Parking was $22/day. You need a key to get inside the garage as well as to leave. Once you enter the garage, you also need a key to enter the hotel, which made me feel safe. My family and I actually purchased card lanyard to hold our hotel keys, since we needed them so often. This allowed us to wear them around and necks and always have access. [The Market] There is a fully stocked market downstairs. It has medicines, drinks, frozen foods, etc. By the time I checked out, I had racked up $50 in charges from the market because I'd always get thirsty and go grab a drink. Having the market is so convenient, although the markup is a bit outrageous. For example, I tried to purchase Benadryl, and it was $25 at the market. I ended up ordered Walmart delivery, and the same Benadryl was only $6. I love the easy check out system, yet I noticed a lot of people struggled with it. There is no cashier. You scan your item then pay at the kiosk or enter the info to charge to your room. [Laundry] - On site laundry is free - all you need is detergent. Most of the machines were out of order during my first month there, but towards the end, I noticed the "out of service" signs being less and less. The dryers only dry for 35 minutes, which was never enough for my items. They were always still damp, so I recommend after the 35 minutes is up , just press start again to give it another go. [Pool] Unfortunately it was too cool during our visit to enjoy the pool. We attempted once when the weather was a little warm, but the water was freezing. I remember when we first checked in, we were told the pool was heated, but it definitely isn't. [Fitness Center] It was always empty whenever we went. It's small but sufficient. It is fully stocked with free headphones and tons of towels. There was always a towel available at each machine as well. [Overall] My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff members were friendly and inviting. We always felt safe in the hotel, and the location is very convenient - close to everything. The hotel still has a new smell to it. It's new and modern and just feels fancy as soon as you walk in. Despite some housekeeping issues and issues with dogs (not the fault of the hotel), it was a very pleasant stay, and I'd absolutely choose a Staybridge suites again for an extended stay

When we went to the pool, there were no towels available, so we requested some for everyone. Later, we also needed towels for showers, and they acted like it was a big deal, almost as if there was a towel shortage. On top of that, instead of bringing them to our room, they told us we had to come down and get them ourselves, which was frustrating. The hallways were also uncomfortably hot and humid, like the AC wasn't working or wasn't even on. Definitely not what we expected. The one positive was the breakfast it was decent.
