For Leah to outright state that they have to stand in line like every one else was not ok. Ive never been to a wedding where the wedding party was not served. Also the candles, that is a fire hazard and a liability. Someone's dressed almost caught fire had we not been paying attention. Leah needs to have a couple of classes on customer service and management what she displayed was not co owner behavior. She is going to run this beautiful establishment down with that type of behavior.

Upon check in, they offer complimentary cookies which were very good and soft. My favorite was the Turtle cookies, which was only made like one time since I was there. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful whenever we needed something. Once the front desk got accustomed to us being there for a while, they started acknowledging us (us as in my co workers and I) by last name. The room I had was a nice size considering my job paid for a room with 2 queen size beds. I'm not sure how often housekeeping wash the bedding sheets because I would have stains on them (that's why I always bring my own bedding). Housekeeping did an ok job at cleaning, they would fold my own bedding and make it nice and neat. Sometimes, they would put up my ironing board. However, one complaint I have about this hotel is the fact I had toilet issues. The handle would always get detached from the rod inside the toilet. I was constantly calling the front desk to send their maintenance to fix my toilet. It was pretty frustrating. But after a while, I learned how to fix the issue. Another complaint is the carpet, I think they need to pull up all the carpet and replace it. Some of the rooms I was in was heavily stained. Not sure how cost effective that is but just a suggestion. On my second to last night, I had a huge HUGE cockroach in my room. It was terrible. I told front desk but they didn't have any spray in the storage room so the security guard had to come in my room to scary the cockroach away, I have no idea where it went. I left a note/message for an exterminator to come and spray the room. The manager, Mary, told me the exterminator wasn't able to come out but made sure my room was sprayed. So in conclusion, I had an good experience here. Ms. Mary, Ms. Gail and Ms. Jerrica were all great staff!!

I chose for us to stay at this beautiful black- and women-owned establishment after I read about it on Travel Noire, and I don't plan to stay anywhere else on future trips to Houston. The rooms are immaculate. We had a beautiful suite with a private wrap-around balcony with two bathrooms, a parlor, and a large bedroom. The ceiling are high and the rooms are large, and this cannot be replicated by a hotel. I was surprised how quiet it is in the area overnight and in the early morning, given the midtown location. The breakfast was wonderful, delicious, and made based on our dietary preferences. We felt heard and understood. We have no negative words for this gorgeous place and the beautiful people who run it. We felt safe in the private parking lot behind us. There are cameras that are monitored outside. There is security code access to enter the building during your stay obtained when you check in. I, during our stay and given my Francophilia,, called it "The House," because we had all of the amenities of home here and given the original French meaning of the name of the spot. Thank you. Bravo!
