I had a dentist who I got to know pretty well (I had a lot of work doneI) and they stated that they wanted to become a "concierge dental practice", so they could charge more instead of being an in network provider. This practice is what you call a "concierge dentist", i.e., they used to be a Guardian PPO, and charge more, now not even in the network. So, they can charge whatever they want without limitation and they want you to pay up front and then do all their legwork to collect your reimbursement from the dental insurer. The first time I went in a few years ago, I paid up front and was waiting for the check, and I called the dentist re: the claim and they told me to call Guardian. I called Guardian and they were waiting on information from the dentist. So, I called back and had to argue with them to get them to follow up on providing Guardian the information they needed in order to pay me. The lady was very snotty with me, and I told her from now on, I'm not doing your job for you. If you could care less to do the requisite portion of YOUR work in order for me to be reimbursed (I think it took over a month to get reimbursed) then I'm not participating. They are the dentist office, they have a business staff who know the codes, they know the work they've performed. Why in heavens should I be responsible for doing their job and then pay them a HIGHER payment, and UP FRONT, and then wait to get paid from the insurance company later? I'll pay more to have less work and more convenience, but not this. Funny thing, this concierge dentistry...! I was a good client, bought extra treatments, supplies, got cleanings every 3 months but their attitude from the business office just irked me to the point where I didn't want to go back. So between family things up north, a lot of travel, projects and work, I was struggling to take the time to find a new dentist. So, being long overdue on a cleaning, I went back recently. I had to! I had a front tooth that broke off at the same time another filling came out. So these are high urgency items, right? Well, I had the cleaning and the evaluation. Gave me a review and cost estimate of the teeth to be fixed. On check-out, ONCE AGAIN they asked me to pay up front for my teeth cleaning, which I refused. They were going to get paid 100% from the insurance, so why would I? Well, I didn't realize that they were no longer in network at all with Guardian. They didn't explain to me (maybe they will charge even more beyond what the insurance will cover and I'll owe them, who knows?? (Previously, I can tell you the prior dentist was paid $35 from Guardian for a filling and they were billing and getting paid $100 from Guardian. I know, that's wack, right?) Well, I guess that wasn't enough, so we'll see if they send me a bill for more than whatever it is Guardian is paying them now... But since I refused to pay for the cleaning and wait for the reimbursement, they REFUSED to even SCHEDULE me for a high urgency appointment, i.e. a filling that fell out and a front chipped tooth. REALLY?? Well, I waited a week, no call. That could have been pre-approved in a day, but didn't hear from them. They said it didn't come through yet. So, I called Guardian. It was pre-approved 5 days ago, two days after submitted. So, they LIED to me, or else never bothered to check it. Either way, it was approved last week. But I found out they were NO LONGER IN NETWORK. As I said before, previously, they were IN-NETWORK, now not. So, that explains a lot. In network, you have kind of a direct portal to all that. Maybe they still do, but they don't care. I guess they have a clientele that likes them so much that they don't mind paying and chasing insurance claims for them. I'm honest, pay my bills on time, but I'm not doing your job for you. Hey, the hygienists are very nice, dentists are fine to deal with as far as the actual work of dentistry, and what work I had done was fine, but most dental offices do good work, too. Just saying, I'm not knocking the staff, I don't think I've met the owner, don't know if any of the dentists I encountered were partners. But, the owners are running the business in the way that they feel they want to, in order to maximize profits. Congratulations, good for you. read more

I've had extensively BAD Dental work done here. After intense pain caused by a root canal procedure here, I reached out to a local Endodontist who had to correct the issue with an Apocoectomy. I've also had to have a bridge re-cemented by another Dentist who I am now, Thank God, happily in their care. The Staff here is great, however, but be forwarned there is a certain Dentist lurking here who needs to stop practicing. read more

I had an emergency crown work that needed to be done right away. If I didn't get it fixed right away it would be definitely be infected soon. Staffs here at Bonham Dental are exceptionally professional and kind. While I was waiting, one of the staff turned on Netflix and TV for me so I won't be bored while waiting. I had a very horrific dentist experience in NY (free cheap Insunrace dentist Sherwin Benlevi located on 1623 3rd Avenue NY) last year and experienced true night mare trauma because I went in for a filling and came back with root canal and two fillings. Dr J changed negative experience in to positive experience for me. First, I didn't have to wait for two weeks for the crown work to be done because dentist makes crown work here in less than a hour! Its amazing! And I didn't even need temporarily crown. Dr J specially designs and makes sure the crown fits patients perfectly. This dentist is above and beyond. I would definitely be back and I'll recommend this dentist to anyone who is looking for quality work. read more

I used to be a patient here and loved them. I moved out of town for a few years and was disappointed in the changes I found when I returned. 1. They've expanded a lot and now I can no longer be seen by the dentist I'd build a relationship with. Have to see one of the newer dentists and start the relationship-building all over from scratch. 2. They've gone concierge. This means they are not in-network on any insurance. You have to buy a more expensive plan and make sure there are out of network privileges and pay the higher out of network cost. 3. It also means that you have to do all the insurance legwork yourself and pay up front. So I have no incentive to use them anymore. If I have to start a new dentist relationship from scratch, I could easily find one that charges less, accepts insurance, submits the insurance claim for me and only bills the balance, and does equally fine work. The Bonhams were good, but they aren't all that. read more

If I could give the Dr. Bonhams (there are 3 of them) 10 stars, I would. I have been a patient here for more than 20 years. Everyone in the office is welcoming and kind. My hygienist, Jill is amazing. She helps keep my pearly whites just that... pearly and white. Plus my appointments are like "lunch with ladies". We have fun. I have had some major dental work done in the office and have never felt nervous about any of it. The staff are always very comforting and the office feels like a spa. It is really a great place. When anyone ever asks me who I go to... I say with great enthusiasm: Bonham Dental Arts!!! Years ago I was so happy to hear the Dr. Carey was joining. This is years ago. In case Dr. Chris retired, I needed a back up. So happy I have one, but Dr. Chris is still hanging out and seeing patients! YaY! They really treat you like family and are kind and patient. This is easily the best dentist I have had the pleasure of visiting. That's right I said pleasure! Bonham Dental Arts was recommended by our family doctor and I could see why right from my first visit. The waiting area and every room looks brand new and welcoming. They are upfront about billing as well (patient pays day of service, then insurance reimburses after). My young daughter just started visiting the dentist and she loves coming here. Jill always makes her so happy and asks her about what is going on in her life while completing her cleaning. Dr. Carey always comes in and right away identifies with her by talking to her about whatever cartoon is on the in-room television. After our last visit, Jill even sent my daughter a thank you note in the mail letting her know it made her day to see my daughter's smiling face. My daughter was beaming from ear to ear when the note arrived and she still has it perfectly placed right where she can see it in her room. We are definitely patients for life. read more

I went in for a cleaning today that was supposed to be free. I literally paid for the cleaning 2 years ago, at the beginning of the pandemic, but because of the pandemic was unable to get my cleaning. Obviously they knew that they hadn't seen me in that time for an exam but when I came in I was informed that they would need to do an exam and that that would be $138. What? I came in for my free cleaning that you guys owe me. Instead of handing over the money, I left. What kind of bait and switch is this? If you knew I needed an exam, clearly indicated in my records, why was I not informed beforehand? This is just handled poorly all around and it's not my first time being disappointed here. Like I haven't given you enough money? I forked over *plenty* to you guys. I called the office and asked for a refund of some sort, since I paid for a cleaning and apparently won't be receiving it. Love this place! I'm a newcomer to Florida and the area and am SO happy Bonham Dental was recommended to me. I have been here a few times and not once have I had to wait. I have literally never been to a doctor's office of any kind without having to wait for at least a little bit (usually longer). I just think this is fabulous. Super prompt and on schedule each time. I've seen Jessie each time and she is just wonderful. She's extremely nice, funny, personable, and good at what she does. This place has massaging chairs and mini tvs while you get your teeth cleaned too. Come on! Getting kicked off insurance and will STILL come here and pay out of pocket. They seem to have it all together: expertise and rapport...and they have spared no expense to make you comfortable and confident in what they do. This practice was recommended by a family member who raved about it. So when I had trouble with a tooth recently I went to see Dr. Chris. I must say so far I am very impressed. What I found most impressive is they really seem to take pride in helping people and are very conservative in their recommendations and approach to treatment. I never got the impression I was being talked into something I didn't need which I can't say is true of several other practitioners I've used in my life. I also like the fact that I've never been made to wait and the entire staff seems to works very well with each other. I can honestly say I no longer dread going to the dentist's office. I also like that they seem to be able to do a wide range of dental procedures in-house from crowns, root canals, veneers, straightening, dentures and implants as well as preventative and routine care. They are the best!! Needed 5 crowns and I got the best, most caring treatment by staff and doctors ever. I was scared but they made me feel relaxed during the entire procedures. I've never seen an office like this before. They have everything, Chair side TV's, refreshments, digital everything and even hand waxing.
