First off, the reception staff were really friendly, and I loved the décor - kinda like an old Speakeasy, merged with lots of Japanese iconography. Rachel herself was lovely. Extremely professional, and great at discussing what I was looking for, and what would work for the tattoo. Now, I'm basically fast running out of space to get tattooed on, having seen several different artists on the past - but this was by far the easiest, least painful tattoo I've ever had. And I love it! Really happy with my experience here - I have a much bigger cover up to be done, so I'll be booking back in soon.

Admittedly I'm a big fan of Japanese culture so even the name caught my eye but stepping through the door you are welcomed in by the deep red walls, a gorgeous chaise longue and some red leather sofas that I desperately want to steal. I've had two tattoos done here (well, I'm in the midst of the second) and have been in and out of here several times for the sessions (big tattoos take a long time!). Everyone is really friendly and laid-back, clearly passionate about what they do and very hardworking. More importantly, they are all brilliant artists, adaptable to different styles. This for me is a key difference to a lot of other places, because they are such good artists you can pop in with an idea/inspiration and they'll draw up something unique based on that. Having worked with Kev and now Rachel, both have been receptive and respectful and I've ended up with two unique custom tattoos that I love. I can't say, unlike the other reviewer, that I've had any issues with their level of service, nor have I heard anything negative from anyone else I know who has been tattoo'd there, so I'd definitely give this place a look for your next (or first) ink!

The cost for piercings is pretty average for any other place you might go but as i was getting 3 piercings at once he offered me the cheapest one for free, and said that that was pretty standard for someone getting a few things done at the same time. I was a bit silly that day as had gone along without eating anything, so i was given a handful of chocolates to ensure i didn't pass out! (something to do with blood sugar levels when getting pierced/tattoo'd) Although i said where i wanted the piercings, he drew dots on my ears for me to chose exactly where i wanted it. The aftercare was great too, i was told exactly how to look after them and to pop in if i wanted help changing them over etc. So next came the tattoo!! i was pretty nervous for this, especially as part of it goes across my ribs and the guy at the desk was like ''oooo that's gonna nip a bit''!! (and he's a pretty tough looking guy!) The guy doing my tattoo said the same thing too, but encouraged me to use 'colourful' language if it helped!! It did!! Although i don't think it helped the two girls waiting after me, as desk guy said he could hear me from up stairs. oops. Ive been putting on the cream they gave me 4 times a day since and so far its not even scabbed!! and it looks purty :D will definitely be going back here for my second one!!

A couple of friends had some tasteful tattoo's done from here, and I came along for support. Alright, I came to watch as well! They were really pleased with the results - the tats were simple but looked great, and seemed to have a remarkable, seamless healing time. Although the staff have gathered an extensive back catalogue if you're looking for inspiration, they are also willing and indeed eager to be creative with your designs. There are a lot of books lining the shelves if you're looking to do something a bit different with your idea. It's an inspirational environment but most importantly, the staff respect you and give you free reign over your design. Tribe isn't merely a tattoo parlour - it's also a piercing studio. I had a few ear piercings done in here and would definitely go back for more. The staff are soothing and made the procedure relatively painless. It was also very reasonably priced and to my knowledge the cost has not rapidly steepened over the years. Tribe 2 Tattoo is a very open, accomodating tattoo studio - none of your sleazy back alley vibe in here. But if that's what you're looking for, it's also a very cool place with vibrant, friendly personalities behind the counter. If you're looking to get pierced or inked by a reputable establishment, I'd point you in the direction of here.

I then rescheduled for a 1pm appointment but when I arrived I was told that Lyle was with another client and the work was more intricate than he first thought. I was given the option of having the work done by Nathan - I was sceptical as he was young so I asked if he was sure he could do the work whereupon he showed me several photos on his phone of work he had done previously, most of which appeared to be well done. I wanted two words (the nickname for my daughter ), a four word phrase, two music notes and a small Texas Bluebonnet flower. Nathan said they had tattooed Texas Bluebonnets before so he knew what they were and what they looked like. I showed him a photo of a tattoo of a bluebonnet my daughter had recently had done and which was beautiful. Nathan, told me, after he had finished the tattoo that he had problems with my older skin (I'm 73) - if that was the case he should have stopped at the first sign of a problem so we could discuss how to proceed -- but he didn't. What I ended up with was thick lettering, the one single music more resembling an exercise hand dumbbell and the Texas Bluebonnet looking nothing like a flower, rather it looks like a hairy blue banana which is going a little mouldy along its green centre line. I have been in contact with Stu the owner, who did offer suggestions in the form of more music notes, but the tattoo itself is so ugly that additional work would be like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. I am now looking at over £1,000 to have the tattoo removed by a well-established dermatology business. As I am a pensioner, this is an extra cost I will have some difficulty paying, especially with today's excessively high cost of living. I suggested to Stu that perhaps I should be reimbursed the amount I paid to have this eyesore tattooed tattooed -- he said I should return to the shop and ask Nathan if he would reimburse the money. I live a considerable distance from Glasgow and with ferry fare, train fare and taxi I would have to pay out over £30 to return - and would Nathan reimburse my money - I doubt it. I may be a senior but I'm not stupid enough to throw good money after bad. Shame on you Stu, Nathan, Lyle and Hepcat Tattoo.

Couldn't say that any one was any better than the others, just depends on what you want done. My latest tattoo was actually a refresh of one that I'd had for more than thirty years. The colours had faded and the lines had blurred, but it meant a lot to me, a reminder of my misspent youth :-) Because of this I'd been quite wary about letting anyone touch it, even to bring it back to it's former glory. I didn't want to spoil something that was so deeply personal to me. When I finally gathered the courage to do this, I contacted Rock n Roll to see who they would recommend for this kind of work. My artist Daniel was fantastic. He was very careful to discuss with me what I actually wanted and when we were both ready, he started work. The end result was far more than I could possibly has wished for. He sharpened the lines, gave it shading and colour, highlighted the bits that needed it. All in all, it looked pristine! Have to admit that looking at it now brings back memories that I thought I had lost. Thanks Daniel and thanks R'n'R

They have some decent artists but it seems like the management/ownership are terrible and unprofessional. They have been sitting on my deposit that I've been trying to get back for months due to my appointment being cancelled during lockdown and the artist with whom I had booked subsequently leaving. I was willing to book with another artist to save the hassle of trying to get a refund, but was made to wait three months (!!) before being offered an appointment - in that time, I saw them posting daily on instagram looking for new clients, obviously giving them priority slots over the existing customers who's deposits they were already sitting on. They then offered me an appointment eleven months down the line! They have admitted they are wrong (it took three emails and the threat of court to even get a reply!) and have offered to refund me, but over a month later I am still waiting for my money. They've completely ghosted me, not returning any e-mails and telling me when I call that management will get back to me (no prizes for guessing if that's happens). There are MANY good, reputable studios with good artists in Glasgow, and a company that treats treats their customers like this definitely doesn't deserve anyone's custom!

Fast forward to this year and following Darryl Mullen on social media. He posted a few new tattoos he was looking to give someone and one of them caught my eye. I messaged him, we set a date and Sophie K and I headed on in. (Sophie K was curious and also provided support!) A really small space, but it is what it is. There is a wee waiting room outwith the actual tattooing area, which has bench seating and loads of flash designs on the walls to give people some ideas of what can be done if you haven't come in looking for a particular design to be done. The shop assistant was really nice, had me fill out some paperwork and told me that Darryl would be with me in a bit as he was setting up in the back. Once he was ready, she guided me through the few small rooms and I was introduced to Darryl. Such a nice guy, he was really welcoming and nice. We got down to business in no time, and in no time, I was out of there with a shiny new tattoo that I am over the moon with! Darryl was chatty the whole time, which helped keeping my mind off of the inevitable pain of getting a tattoo, but I'll also note that this was the most painless tattoo I've ever gotten. Sure, it stung, but nothing like the other tattoos I've gotten. I'm actually going to work with him on another tattoo of mine and very much look forward to it.
