Fast forward to this year and following Darryl Mullen on social media. He posted a few new tattoos he was looking to give someone and one of them caught my eye. I messaged him, we set a date and Sophie K and I headed on in. (Sophie K was curious and also provided support!) A really small space, but it is what it is. There is a wee waiting room outwith the actual tattooing area, which has bench seating and loads of flash designs on the walls to give people some ideas of what can be done if you haven't come in looking for a particular design to be done. The shop assistant was really nice, had me fill out some paperwork and told me that Darryl would be with me in a bit as he was setting up in the back. Once he was ready, she guided me through the few small rooms and I was introduced to Darryl. Such a nice guy, he was really welcoming and nice. We got down to business in no time, and in no time, I was out of there with a shiny new tattoo that I am over the moon with! Darryl was chatty the whole time, which helped keeping my mind off of the inevitable pain of getting a tattoo, but I'll also note that this was the most painless tattoo I've ever gotten. Sure, it stung, but nothing like the other tattoos I've gotten. I'm actually going to work with him on another tattoo of mine and very much look forward to it. I can't comment on any other tattoo artist in the shop, but Darryl is great and his craftsmanship is well worth the money!

The whole experience is slick and professional, arrange a consultation with the artist you want, pay a deposit and arrange your appointment. Kym emailed me a couple of days before with her interpretation of what I was looking for and we chatted on the day too to get it just right. Couple of things to remember, you are dealing with artists, and the entire name is CUSTOM Inc, so it's better to go with a rough idea, let the talented artists put their spin on it! Admittedly I'm a big fan of Japanese culture so even the name caught my eye but stepping through the door you are welcomed in by the deep red walls, a gorgeous chaise longue and some red leather sofas that I desperately want to steal. I've had two tattoos done here (well, I'm in the midst of the second) and have been in and out of here several times for the sessions (big tattoos take a long time!). Everyone is really friendly and laid-back, clearly passionate about what they do and very hardworking. More importantly, they are all brilliant artists, adaptable to different styles. This for me is a key difference to a lot of other places, because they are such good artists you can pop in with an idea/inspiration and they'll draw up something unique based on that. Having worked with Kev and now Rachel, both have been receptive and respectful and I've ended up with two unique custom tattoos that I love. I can't say, unlike the other reviewer, that I've had any issues with their level of service, nor have I heard anything negative from anyone else I know who has been tattoo'd there, so I'd definitely give this place a look for your next (or first) ink!

The cost for piercings is pretty average for any other place you might go but as i was getting 3 piercings at once he offered me the cheapest one for free, and said that that was pretty standard for someone getting a few things done at the same time. I was a bit silly that day as had gone along without eating anything, so i was given a handful of chocolates to ensure i didn't pass out! (something to do with blood sugar levels when getting pierced/tattoo'd) Although i said where i wanted the piercings, he drew dots on my ears for me to chose exactly where i wanted it. The aftercare was great too, i was told exactly how to look after them and to pop in if i wanted help changing them over etc. So next came the tattoo!! i was pretty nervous for this, especially as part of it goes across my ribs and the guy at the desk was like ''oooo that's gonna nip a bit''!! (and he's a pretty tough looking guy!) The guy doing my tattoo said the same thing too, but encouraged me to use 'colourful' language if it helped!! It did!! Although i don't think it helped the two girls waiting after me, as desk guy said he could hear me from up stairs. oops. Ive been putting on the cream they gave me 4 times a day since and so far its not even scabbed!! and it looks purty :D will definitely be going back here for my second one!!

It was also very reasonably priced and to my knowledge the cost has not rapidly steepened over the years.
