Not your typical chain! Bonefish is my family's favorite. Their Saucy Shrimp appetizer, seared tuna, and lily's chicken are all among favorites. I've recently transitioned from Pescatarian to Vegan, and I called the restaurant to see if they could accommodate vegan. The host initially said no, but when I questioned it (all vegan is is some veggies, really.. I figured they could do that), he handed the phone over to the executive chef who was more than helpful. He gave me multiple options to choose from that I ended up ordering when we went to dine later that day. The only thing I thought was crazy was the price. I understand my meal wasn't on the menu so they'd have to use a miscellaneous price, but all I ordered was mixed veggies and rice... and my bill was charged for a "Shrimp Diablo" at $16. How could you ever equate mixed veggies to the value of fresh shrimp? I was disappointed in this price gauge, but still a fan of the place overall. read more

I've been to Bonefish a handful of times since it opened at the mall, and I've always been pleased with the food. Also, the Pomegranate Martini is to die for, really and truly. During my most recent visit, we started with the Bang Bang Shrimp (delicious, as always) and the Saucy Shrimp & Scallops (a featured special app). The shrimp/scallops were good, but I thought they were a bit heavy handed with the sun-dried tomatoes. The proportion of tomatoes to seafood was off, especially considering the size of the scallops (minuscule). For my entree, I ordered the Imperial Longfin (stuffed with crab, shrimp, and scallops) with the garlic mashed and broccoli. For some reason, it didn't taste as good to me as the last time I had it. It was a little under-seasoned and skimpy on the lemon garlic sauce. I guess it was an off night for the cook. I still rate Bonefish at a 4/5 because of previous experiences. Love their pick 2 toco lunch combos with either soup or salad. They have fish, chicken or steak with a mango salsa , but my favorite are the Steak toco and a cup of cream of crab for $10! We've been to bonefish Grill quite a few times. Never had a problem until tonight. The food is usually consistent and pretty good, however, service tonight was terrible. We called and made a reservation for 6:30 PM. It was a Wednesday night, mind you. We get there and they didn't have a table available, so we had to wait 15 minutes for one to become available. When we called to make a reservation, we told the person that took our reservation that we needed seating for two adults and two children, one booster seat and one high chair. The woman that went to seat us asked if it's alright to be seated at a booth. We said that was fine as long as we could have a high chair since we have a nine-month-old who would not be able to sit in a booster seat, and she stated that it was not safe for a high chair to be seated at a booth for access purposes. We reiterated the fact that our 9 month old would need a high chair. We waited another few minutes, and then they took us to what we thought was our table with the accommodations that we needed. She proceeded to take us to a booth, gave us a booster seat for our toddler, and when we asked for a high chair, she again said they couldn't give us one. Instead of finding another table to meet our needs, they put us at the seat they have available expecting us to do what? Hold a baby throughout the meal? Instead of seeking to accommodate us, we were met with argument. The hostess chose to argue with us and tell us about safety standards, which we quite understand, instead of finding a table that could meet our needs yet remain within code. When we said "we told you what we needed when we made our reservation" she told us "well, this is what we have available." Needless to say, we left without being able to even look at the menu. Unacceptable. It's not just what you have available, it's meeting the customers' needs within reason. Our needs are very common. Many parents out there want to have dinner with their young children. Never a fan of Seafood chains, I was suspect going in...but being that my wife and I were looking for simple, and not having to dress up....here's where we ended up. I was impressed. My wife has dietary restrictions and sometimes that can be a hassle, and a bit painful. The server was excellent, patient, and most important....careful. She ensured that all the recommendations met my wife's dietary needs. The food in itself was very good. I had the "Cajun chicken egg rolls" for an appetizer, and it was very tasty. Not too spicy, and the glaze and mustard on the side were a nice change of taste. My wife had the Salmon and I had the Grouper, and they were both very nicely done. There is a variety of sauces that you can have on your fish, we went with the mango on the salmon and pan asian on the grouper....great results. The entrees themselves were pretty filling. Adding salad and apps made for a big meal. The server made us aware that as soon as you tell them of a dietary restriction, there is something in their system that allows them to tell if you can have that item, that is quite reassuring. The service was excellent, and the decor is nice and subtle. Sitting on the side of the bar can get a bit noisy, but there is a division with more seating on the other side of the divider. This isn't an upscale restaurant, but it's "casually nice". I would strongly recommend it, and will certainly come back when in the area..... don't be afraid of the fact that it sits outside a mall (that's been enough to keep me away since it opened)..... read more

We've been to bonefish three times now, and each experience was great. The first time went we sat at the bar for some beverages and had bacon wrapped scallops. Scallops weren't tough, they were delicious, and the bar tender was awesome. Our second trip was for an early dinner during the work week. We were seated right away, which isn't surprising given the time of day. Again, food was great and the waitress was super friendly and attentive. Last night we decided to go to bonefish for dinner. We didn't make reservations so when we arrived around 6:45pm we found a packed restaurant. The hostess advised of a 50 to 60 minute wait, which was fine with me since we wanted to walk around the shops. At almost 7:45pm we were notified that the table was ready. We ordered the bang bang shrimp to start and was served complimentary bread. The bang bang shrimp is awesome. The portion size was much more than I had anticipated. We both ordered the filet mignon which came out perfectly. The meal came with the vegetable of the day and our choice of side. Very satisfied with the meal. I'm typically very skeptical of chain restaurants, but I've come to enjoy going to bonefish. Not only for the food and service, but for the atmosphere. read more

Outstanding Fish & Chips with a crisp and refreshing watermelon martini for an impromtu luncheon on the hottest, most humid day of the year. Also, the bang-bang shrimp is addicting and the crab cakes were mostly fresh, succulent crab pieces! First off, look at my history...I'm usually the guy to only write reviews when things go horribly wrong, or amazingly right. I sit at the bar because I work very nearby. I recommend sitting at the bar. Matt, specifically, and then Stephanie, and all of the other bartenders, are the best in the business. I am very glad that the Bonefish came to the area. I have been in them in the South, and have had very pleasant experiences. So, now that this one opened, I decided to take my wife there for my birthday. We started with the Fried Calimari. Very large, lightly breaded and seasoned and tender. Just what I expected. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, my wife had the Filet Mignon and Crab cake. The Sea Bass was very tender and melted in my mouth. The filet was cooked to order and was very tender, even though my wife chose to have it cooked well done. As for the crab cake - it was definately the highlight of her meal. It was ALL crab with a bit of mayo and mustard to hold it all together. No bread what so ever. The crab was perfectly seasoned and fresh. It even beats the crab cakes at Mitchell Seafood Markets or anywhere in Maryland. To top it off, we both ordered the Creme Brulee. Although a previous reviewer said it was a no no to add whipped cream on top, it was a refreshing addition. We expected small ramikin dishes, but received a quite large portion each, with fresh whipped cream and two blueberries on top. The top was carmelized to perfection and the fresh whipped cream on top gave it added flavor. As for the service, top notch. Our waiter took good care of us, and even when he was busy, any of the other wait staff was glad to help. In all, we spent 103.00 for appetizers, two salads, two entrees, two desserts and three beers along with a 24% tip (yes, it was worth it). read more

The food and service at bonefish is everything you could ask for. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night and while it was busy, the service was at a great pace. The complimentary bread and dipping oil is some of the best I've had. We ordered the calamari as our appetizer and oh my goodness, it was delicious. Delightfully crunchy and perfectly cooked. It had that slight chew you look for in calamari. The sauce it come with made the whole dish, wonderfully spicy and sweet. I got the sea scallops and shrimp (well cooked and you could taste the grill flavor) with garlic mashed potatoes (they were okay) and the steamed broccoli (I don't know what was on it, but yum!) My boyfriend got the fish and chips, they weren't kidding when they say generous portion! He got three large pieces of fish and a nice helping of fries, I could hear the crunch when he bit into the fish! Unfortunately, we were far too stuffed to try dessert. I just want to start off saying that the food was great. The portion size was just good. He wait staff was outstanding however my experience with the hostess however has forced me to give this restaurant a lower rating. I'm a large person 6 ft 4 person and heavy. My friends and I had the worst experience at Bonefish a few weeks ago. First of all, I must say, our food was fine; strangely, it was the service that stank. When one of the servers was bringing out our salads, she dropped the salad dressing cup all over me. She apologized profusely and brought out club soda to dab at my ruined dress, but that was the end. They never cleaned up the spilled dressing that was all over the seat next to me and left the dressing cup on the floor where it dropped. Hence, when we were leaving, my friend slipped out of her seat. One of the managers did come over and offer to pay for my dry cleaning, but that was it. Now, I am not one to complain or beg for hand-outs, and really, even covered in salad dressing I was cheerful and understanding, but shouldn't they have at least offered to refill my beverage (the pineapple martini-I highly recommend it) or comped my meal? My night was essentially over the minute she dropped the dressing on me. Instead of shopping with my friends, I had to go home. They should have done more. So, not only was I covered in salad dressing, but there were other problems we had: cold coffee, my friend's order inputed incorrectly (she had to wait for her correct dish), fries that didn't arrive until we reminded our server twice. Bonefish has great food, and usually their servers are the best, but wow, I won't be going back and neither will my friends. Phenomenal dinner. We originally wanted a table and waited for about 1/2 hour to 45 min and then some bar chairs opened up. We sat down and decided to cancel the pager and just eat there. Matt was exceptional! This bartender turned our shitty day completely around. We went from being tired, upset and hungry to laughs, drinks and enjoying the ambiance. It's was pretty packed as usual on weekends. Plus the rainy day didn't help. It has been a very long time since I went to a chain restaurant and had an "exclusive" restaurant feel and treatment. Mind you... We all were under dressed in rain jackets and jeans/sweats. We still felt comfortable and the employees were all on point. Courteous and amicable. Matt spoke fluent Spanish with my grandfather. Both my uncle and grandfather are visiting from Spain and Matt just surprised us with his bar tending skills and Spanish. From wine to food... Overall can't express enough how well put together this team works when it's busy. I mean the wait time was about 2 hours and every table was taken, bar was full. As possibly the most frequent customer over the past 3 years, I am shocked I have never reviewed the Bonefish. I am here weekly, and really enjoy the place. Friendly staff, consistant food, reasonable prices. If you order something and don't like it, tell them, and they will get you something else. When the mall is busy, this place is busy, so avoid prime time if you don't want to wait. They get my "Best Local National Chain Restuarant" award. I had really high hopes for Bonefish. I've heard great things about it, and it's a favorite place for many people I know, as well as a few friends. The ambiance is nice. I like the interior. The service was pretty good, too. I have no complaints about that. The prices were fine, really. So my only issue is that the food I ate made me sick. I'll totally admit (and have) that I'm the canary in the coal mine. It will always hit me first and hit me hardest if anything is wrong with food or drink. I shared the ahi tuna appetizer with my boyfriend. The fish tasted fine, and I had no reason to hold back on eating my fair share of this sesame crusted delicacy. It tasted very good. I don't know if it was the ahi that did me in. I have no way of knowing, really. The main course I got was the Maryland Crab Cake dinner. I did get pieces of shell in my mouth, which I don't care for... but it's happened before, and it's not a big deal. There was definitely a strange flavor that I didn't care for, so I didn't finish the meal. I ate one crab cake, and a little of the second one. I think I should've listened to my instinct, which was telling me that something was wrong. In about 30-45 minutes, luckily we were home, I had the worst stomach cramps. You can probably guess where I spent the rest of my night... in the bathroom, or curled up in the fetal position on the sofa... then later curled up in the same position on my bed. I was DONE for the night. Now, you'd think that I'd give them less stars for this. However, I have to say that I'm quite sensitive to food that is even a LITTLE off. Some people could've eaten the same thing and been fine. Know what I mean? But not me. If food is the least bit unfresh, then I'm the one that'll reap the consequences. My husband and I went again tonight. We sat at a booth by the bar. We started with the bang bang shrimp (which I love) then I had the corn and crab soup which was really good too. My husband had the edamame (good) and coconut shrimp which was also yummy and the beef kabobs which he said was good but they were really tiny. I had the filet for my main course. It was ok. Kinda chewy. I didn't say anything and just tried to eat what I could. The waitress came over with our check and said that she saw me struggling with my steak and she took it off our check! Every poor experience I have w/ overdone meat leads me closer and closer to getting it medium well. My boyfriend will thank me.
