Friday night 7:15 pm, no reservations and I had no idea where I was taking my dad and his lady friend for dinner. I whipped out my phone and hit up Open Table and I saw there was room at Bonefish Grill for a party of 3 at 7:30 which was less than two miles away. Great, I thought and since Friday is kinda a fish day it was perfect. So we hopped in my GLC and I hit the gas. After dropping off pop and his friend at the front door, I quickly found a parking spot and entered the restaurant at 7:28...two minutes to spare! My dad was already seated and ordering a glass of wine and his friend was ordering a cosmo. I got myself a Pellegrino and we started looking at the menu. The waitress came by and asked if we were ready to order...we weren't but I did place an order for their patented Bang Bang Shrimp. She came back a few minutes later with some hot bread and an olive oil infused dipping sauce that had hints of garlic and parsley and it was great. After a quick discussion we got our order down pat. The half pound burger with cheddar for my father who also wanted an order of potatoes au Gratin, a small salad with a side of lobster tail for his date and the Chilean Seabass "Imperial" which was on special. It came with a choice of two sides and I went with the asparagus and seasoned broccoli. After some small talk, the waitress came out with the Bang Bang Shrimp served over a bed of shredded lettuce. Dad and his date dove right in and I was lucky to get about 6 small-medium sized shrimp. They were excellent, soft not stringy or chewy, seasoned just right with a bit of a kick...dad had about 8. Next...the main course. The waitress and food runner came over with about 6 plates and a few small "sharing" plates. I'm not sure about the sharing part as I wanted my "Imperial" to myself! My dad got his burger which looked great but he had his eyes on the big plate of potatoes au Gratin and went to town...we couldn't get a fork in. His friend dove into her blue cheese salad and devoured her nice size tail in about 15 seconds. I literally turned around for a moment and it was gone. If I didn't see the shell I would never have remembered she ordered it. She said it was great. My turn as I had a nice plate Chilean Seabass to attend to and it did not disappoint. The fish was meaty and dense and covered with shrimp in a parmesan cheese like sauce...very good. The broccoli was al dente and had a nice flavor to it while the asparagus was a bit undercooked but had a nice lemony butter taste. After a while it was all gone(my dad's gf helped him finish the burger...which she loved). After the plates were cleared and some good conversation with the waitress and my dad having another glass of wine, we were asked about dessert. Now, I was completely full, but my dad had something left in the tank. Being from NY he loves his cheesecake so we went with the waitress's suggestion of trying the strawberry seasonal cheesecake...with three spoons. A large chunk of cheesecake appeared with a generous helping of strawberries in a light, sweet sauce. They both started at opposite ends and met at the middle. I was able to get a spoon in there and I have to say it was one of the best cheesecakes I've had outside of NY...which is a huge compliment if you know NY cheesecake. The bill came and not only was it reasonable but dad pulled out his wallet...big win for me (I did pick up the wine tasting tab earlier in the day!). We had such a great experience. The waitress was kind and prompt. The pork chop was the best pork chop I've ever had. It was tender, juicy and the topping with the mushrooms and bacon was perfection. The asparagus tasted frozen, which was sad, bud the pork was so good, I didn't care. Large portion and the bread with dipping oil made for plenty of food. The crab cakes had a bit of a kick to them. The shrimp were good, but everyone agreed the pork chop was the best thing all four of us ordered. We went for lunch and there were only a couple other people there. I got the sirloin and lobster special. The sirloin was really good, but the lobster was just boiled and put on the plate, no seasoning on it at all. We must have come on a good night because we walked right in and were seated right away on a Wednesday night of spring break week. Julie, our server, was great. She was attentive, responsive and had a bubbly personality. Smoked old fashioned was hubby's drink choice and I got the pomegranate martini. He enjoyed his old Fashioned. The martini was a tad sweet but still enjoyable. It had been awhile since I had been to a Bonefish back home so I'm not sure how long the "new" crab fries had been on the menu but they caught my eye. I got two appetizers for my dinner: the new crab fries and the tried-and-true bang bang shrimp. Bang bang shrimp are consistently good. The crab fries were an 8 out of 10. They were a tad over seasoned. The crab meat atop was good but could have used maybe 2 more tablespoonful. Overall a great experience with great service and food! read more

The other menu items are usually as explained and vanilla. We had a couple pieces of fish that were cooked really good on thicker one end and dry/ overcooked on the other end. Our soup was not super hot, just warm. Overall food, just so-so The restaurant was a little dirty in areas. The area along wall between seats was full of food and scraps. Under the table had garbage. Floors felt sticky throughout the restaurant and the bathrooms just weren't as well taken care of as they could have been. We go to Bonefish Grill in North Myrtle Beach every time we're here on vacation. Always a great experience! The food is great and expertly prepared. The staff is so friendly. This time was different. Went early to sit at the bar. Bar Staff was super nice and Looked after us perfectly. Then we moved to our table and it fell apart. Maybe they are understaffed. Maybe more patrons arrived than they were counting on. We carried our drinks from the bar so we didn't need anymore. Immediately he asked for our order. We felt rushed but gave it to him. Another staff member brought the bread. We didn't see him after that until we had eaten and he dropped off the bill. Except he rushed by several times going to another table. Monday night is $5. Martinis! We decided to stop here to have a drink and an app. We were greeted and sat right away, and our server was very friendly and on top of everything. I ordered the fall honey crisp apple martini & the pumpkin raviolis. They can be ordered as a side, you get 4 for $7.50. They were delicious but I think that was a little pricy for only 4 ravioli. My sister in law ordered their version of a Cosmo and it was garnished with cranberries, which I thought was cool and different. She also ordered the edamame, it came with a side of sea salt which is good because I feel places put way too much on. However it was covered in olive oil I believe which is not something I would have ever ordered with it & it's completely defeating the purpose of a healthy app. So if you don't wait it make sure to specify no oil :) you learn the hard way. I also didn't like that my brother ordered a Vodka martini with a lemon twist and they charged him full price. read more
