My sister and I decided to try out Bombshell Tattoo in Edmonton to see if we could get a simple tattoo done for a walk in. We got lucky and they had enough space to squeeze us in and we got to sit down with Darian. It was a great experience, Darian did an amazing job and made the whole experience awesome. I was rudely treated and made to feel stupid by the condescending owners right from the start. They advertised free consults, so when I called and told them what I wanted, I asked about the free consult, and some guy with a gruff voice and English or Australian accent said, "This is it." They acted like they're the only tattoo place in the city (not even sure why I booked there!). The artist who did my tattoo was considerably nicer. It's a shame she has to work for the arrogant, self-glorifying couple who runs the place. I'd rather have root canal work than ever do business there again. read more

Here's a review I wrote in 2017 for the business in Google Maps' review section for this business. They've made changes since then, but that doesn't matter!: TLDR: Most racist tattoo parlour in Edmonton, my advice is if you're not white don't give them any business for tattoos or piercings, take your business elsewhere, there are far more accommodating places than this! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm not impressed! Went in there to get a quote for a tattoo -- Canadian flag -- and was told they don't do that sort of thing in there and that they only do certain types of tattoos, telling a potential paying customer something like that IS bad customer service, and anyone I know who is looking at getting a tattoo I will tell to avoid this place like the plague!!! EDIT: They [Bombshell Tattoo] have banned me from posting to their facebook page because of the 1 star review, do you seriously want to give money to a company like this, save your money & go elsewhere as there are far better tattoo shops than this!!! I cannot say enough good things about Bombshell!!!!! First, the studio itself is beautiful and so clean-it's the nicest place I've ever gotten a tattoo. There are comfortable rooms, waiting areas, and seating options. I got a three day long tattoo from Liz Venom, who is a MAGICIAN; I flew from the states just to get artwork by her done and it was 10000% worth it. This is the most beautiful tattoo I've ever gotten (pics include the second skin wrapping). The process itself was long but as painless as possible; the vibes in the studio are awesome and inclusive, and everyone is fun to be around and so good at what they do. I would definitely recommend Liz and Bombshell to anyone who wants the best tattoo experience of their life!! read more

Fantastic shop! I just finished my final appointment (for this particular piece) and am over the moon with the quality, service, and care. Liz is a stickler for cleanliness, so I've never had any issues healing my piece, and she's an incredible artist. The thoughtfulness and detail in this piece are wonderful. Liz was incredibly patient and responsive during the email consultation process, and she really captured the spirit of what I was going for, in a design with a lot of movement, colour saturation, and detail. She carefully considered the placement of the other tattoos in the area, and came up with something that fit around them beautifully. I'm over the moon with this piece of art. I don't know anything about the other tattoo artists at the shop, but I've been pierced by Sandra in the past, and ordered pieces through her and always had great experiences. She definitely has a way of making an intimidating process feel more approachable. read more

I got a beautiful tattoo from the owner Liz Venom here, I found her to be amazingly understanding with my artwork requirements, she offered suggestions for what would and wouldn't work. My tattoo was for my grandmother and I literally cried when it was done it was so beautiful! I love that this studio is professional enough to tell people when they are making a bad life decision, or direct clients elsewhere when they know there is someone else in the city that will be better suited to the request. Unlike some of the more needy or perhaps self absorbed reviewers before me I feel like it's the mark of a true professional to turn down business and go without money if you know you won't be the best for the job! The shop itself is really creative and fun, when I got tattooed it was super busy but everyone was really friendly and accommodating, I would definitely recommend this shop for anyone looking to get some ink. read more

Experience from beginning to end was terrible. Artist gossiped about all her staff and customers the entire time. While I was not assertive enough about what I wanted; she avoided including details that I requested and could have been included if she weren't trying to cut corners. Several lines and points do not line up on my tattoo. Some lines were heavy while the mirror image line barely has a thin single line. When I asked for a follow up appointment was met with a lot of resistance. She would not book an appointment over the phone. Would never recommend. read more

I got my second tattoo here from Liz a few weeks ago and it's just finished healing perfectly, it looks simply amazing! I must say I was a bit shocked to see how much the place has changed in the last few years, but it's all for the better! It looks AMAZING! Totally the most original shop in the city (and like I said in my other review, I have been to a LOT! Lol) It was also really nice to see the big stack of awards they have won since I was there last, they totally deserve it, these girls (and guys now) work hard and take their art seriously, and it shows. This was not a great experience and I have ended up with a tattoo I am embarrassed of and will have re-worked or removed asap. It isn't anywhere near what I sent in. Unless you are prepared to be rudely aggressive about having the tattoo you want I would say run, quickly in the other direction. I have only been to Bombshell so far as part of the Semicolon fundraiser on July 26th. So this review is based only on the promotion, organization and execution of the event. I don't know for sure, but I believe that they used solely social media to get word out there (https://www.facebook.com/events/918345478207163/923170824391295/). And it worked! The facebook event showed over 300 people interested in going. The event itself was taking place at 2 different locations, but I chose to go with Bombshell. It was closer to home and has a great reputation. The doors were set to open at 10 am and my group of 4 arrived at about 9:10. I was number 39 in line already and it continued to grow behind us. It was a beautiful day and everyone was in such a good mood, nobody minded waiting. We made friends with the people around us. Shortly before it opened, I noticed a mobile gelato truck setting up in the parking lot next door (Great idea!!). Once the doors opened, the crowd was handled in a very organized fashion. They passed around clipboards with waivers so by the time you got to the till, you were ready to go. They would only take payment from a few people at a time - which was smart. The cozy waiting area would have been packed if they had kept the line moving too quickly. The way they did it allowed everyone to be comfortable. My best friend was quite nervous, so they arranged to have her and her husband go in together. I LOVED that they had Liz set up at the station in the front window. It gave people outside something to watch and got us really pumped up for our turn. The energy was absolutely off the charts and the girls working the till were super cheerful and danced away to the tunes that were filling the room. The way they kept everyone smiling and friendliness of all the artists will definitely see me go back for future work. Great job guys and gals!! read more

oh my god, i cannot rave about bombshell tattoo enough, specifically sandra the piercer. i had my septum done at a different shop, that i won't name and shame, and it came out SO crooked. she ended up piercing through cartilage and using a piece of jewellery that was way too big, and i just looked messed up haha. so after getting advice from a friend, i called bombshell and explained my situation. sandra told me to come in and she ended up giving me a different piece of jewellery that actually fit my face! while the piercing is still crooked, it's a lot less noticeable and i'm very happy with it. sandra was soooo sweet and so helpful, gave me so much advice that i'll definitely take to heart, and now i never want to get a piercing from anybody else. she's a gem. if you're after a piercing definitely go see sandra! she's amazing! thanks bombshell. read more

Went to bombshell for a walk-in tattoo which turned out great. The artist who did my tattoo was very careful and thorough with the tattoo and the place was very clean and well sanitized unlike some reviews have said. However, the customer service and general information was kind of lacking. The person who took down my name and number for the callback was fine but the artist I had did not seem concerned with making a first-timer feel welcome which was disappointing as I'd seen overwhelmingly positive reviews online. I suppose they're probably friendlier to people who have more tattoo experience but why wouldn't they want to encourage new people to become loyal returners? Also when researching (which I did for a solid 2 weeks prior to going) I did not find anything about only being able to pay cash and was also not warned prior to being tattooed. They do have an ATM but it would always be nice to have a heads-up especially because the ATM only allows amounts to be drawn by multiples of $20 and the front desk does not have change. When I requested change the artist treated me as though I was stupid which was quite annoying as I had received zero warning about the cash only policy and could only pay with 20s. It made the whole situation feel like a cash grab unfortunately undermining an otherwise good experience. I ended up tipping extra since my only other option without change was to not tip at all which would be absolutely unacceptable after the great tattoo, but I can't help but reconsider my hopes for returning after the mediocre service and the lack of information. I guess all that's left now is to wait to get a passive aggressive response from their Yelp account to really decide if I want to go back... read more

I have been to see Liz now for a couple of sessions. Her artwork is incredibe, and she's been awesome to correspond with for bookings and sorting out designs. The shop has an amazing aesthetic, and all of the staff are super friendly and down to earth. It makes for a very enjoyable tattoo experience. That, and all of the very obvious measures they're taking to deal with recently-imposed Covid restrictions make it very obvious that Liz and her team care about what they're doing. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Full disclosure, I haven't actually been tattooed here, but I did walk in to see if I could book an appointment to get a small piece. The shop is very clean, spacious and well-lit. The artists here clearly have a very high level of talent, and likely have many, many years of experience in the industry, which is all great stuff. However, I was promptly brushed off by the owner and told to go to a cheap walk-in tattoo joint around the corner. They wouldn't even consider accommodating me at all, without actually giving me a reason. My suspicion is that it's because I wanted something simple and pre-designed (what some pompous tattoo artists refer to as a "pinterest tattoo", even though the design was not from pinterest, or tumblr, or anything like that at all). First impression - the owner and the staff here seem very, very pretentious. I'm definitely not going back. read more

I give credit where it's due and have to acknowledge that every time I've been in this shop, it's been clean (no garbage laying around, cans, as previous reviews have said) and appears to be quite sanitary and that personal/client health is taken seriously. Very talented people working there which unfortunately leads me to my rating... I'm sort of appalled by the condescending tone in which customers are being met with in replies as well as in shop, that I have witnessed and experienced myself. So, before I get an attack launched on me for my review, I will clarify. I have never engaged in or been part of a rude exchange or argument at Bombshell. The tattoos I have inquired about (love the portfolios and style of a couple artists, wanted their work) were not "Pinterest" tattoos, not facial tattoos or anything derogatory/life ruining but without fail, I've been met with condescension and sent away to other shops. That would be fine, I understand sometimes style/colouring isn't a good fit for an artist and there are others but I was originally even directed to check out Bombshell due to the style, tattoo and colour schemes of the tattoos I have and wanted to add. Unfortunately though I've felt immediately dismissed when I've asked questions (No a tattoo artist myself so I don't know things... sorry?) and even been cut off when explaining my tattoo idea, rudely rushed to who ever was nearest and more interested in what I had to say. Doesn't make for a comfortable environment. Regardless, I came back a second time, more prepared and with clearer info on what I wanted, where and in what style and was again sent away and told to go to another shop. I'm really not sure why. I'd really love to give this shop a review on their actual tattooing work but unfortunately I can't seem to be able to get them to actually tattoo me, which is disappointing. When you like an artists style and pick them out for that... You want THEIR work, not to be sent off, elsewhere to a shop who might have a guy who tattoos in the same style. Sigh. read more

Terrible service. Liz Venom and the store manager were super condescending. I came back for a touch up, had my tattoo called a "Pinterest tattoo" (which it isn't, but even so what is that supposed to mean?) and was told several BS excuses why they couldn't touch it up, at least not for free. For some reason I still wanted to give them another chance and asked to book an appointment for two smaller tattoos with a friend. I was told to go to Dragon FX. In summary, these people are snobs and don't want your business unless it suits their needs. read more

I've come in twice now for walk in tattoos with a total of three tattoos done, and each time I go in I'm met with friendly people and an excellent atmosphere. The artists are kind and make you feel very comfortable even if you're as anxious as I was getting my first done (literally shaking on the waiting couch), but Jon made sure I felt comfortable and understood what was happening every step of the way. He took my simple sketches and turned them into fantastic tattoos that I'm proud to wear around. All of their artists are well-versed in many styles and are very capable of creating a fantastic tattoo with any ideas you give them. They will also recommend any changes or suggestions that will create a better tattoo so that they know you are getting the best piece possible. I genuinely love getting tatted here and urge others to go as well. I've been to a fair few tattoo parlours and I can definitely say that based on the environment and the artists, this is my favourite place to be. read more
