I live in rural Colorado without close hardware or Big Box stores. I do have an ACE Hardware store about 12 miles away but they have outrageous prices. I found Bolt Depot online and was amazed at the extremely wide selection and the great, reasonable prices. No price gouging there! They also ship quickly and in USPS Express boxes, so shipping is fast and inexpensive. I'd recommend Bolt Depot to everyone. Bolt depot is essential for anyone who works on motorcycles, especially Japanese or ones using metric fasteners. You can order a ridiculously small amount, exactly what you need - and they ship incredibly fast. Great prices and no minimum order makes bolt depot my go to for fasteners. I seldom even bother with the big box local stores any more because it inevitably ends up I can only find some at most of what I need. I needed a couple of silicon bronze bolts and nuts to repair a sunfish rudder. I couldn't find this material anywhere in the area, and anywhere at all online in small quantity (4 pieces total) but Bolt Depot had exactly what I needed at a reasonable price. Who knew such a place existed in metro Boston! Shipping (~$5) did cost more than the hardware, but that was still a good deal considering the time I would have saved the hour driving there and back. Earlier this year I set out to finish the overhaul of my home workshop (a/k/a, "the man cave"). I sought suppliers of the types of hardware and fasteners I'd need to avoid last minute trips to Home Depot, and their ridiculous prices for tiny bags of fasteners. Problem one: having literally been raised in a family retail hardware store, I knew exactly what I was looking for, and the shopping list was long. Problem two: most online suppliers were seeking to sell only full boxes of fasteners. I had neither the storage space nor the budget to accommodate quantities of 100 for items where a supply of two dozen would suffice. Bolt Depot was one of the two online suppliers able to rise to the challenge. Their product lines are extensive (although, not exhaustive), their piece-count prices were better than a few of the full-box suppliers and their shipping wasn't grossly overpriced (fasteners are heavy for their size). As a reward for their cooperation, I placed several orders. Each arrived promptly; although not without a mis-shipped item or two. I would recommend FMW Fasteners (Houston, TX) to any homeowner who wishes to remain a step ahead of their next repair, and Bolt Depot for the items they don't stock. read more

Like the other reviewer, they have hard to find hardware and their prices are hard to beat. My experience with their customer service is an entirely different story. Through my experience I learned they are primarily a drop shipper - which means they take orders from customers and contract other companies to fulfill them. And to that end, they broke the golden rule of dropshipping in my opinion. My order came in multiple packages from several vendors. There was no communication or tracking information that would indicate that the order was split like this. The last package I received was supposed to be a box of 100 bolts but turned out to be a package of 10. I had to insist that they look into the short ship situation which they argued was not unusual - that the box of 100 could have been split up and fulfilled by different vendors. My insistance revealed an error on their part which they were happy to correct, "if they had the remaining parts in stock." They wouldn't agree to ship them via an expedited service because I chose ground service for my order (even though I'm left waiting because of their mistake). And then they told me - it wasn't their fault that the order wasn't shipped properly - it was the fault of the vendor fulfilling the order. Seriously??? So buyer beware. Bolt Depot just takes the orders. Accountability is not their strength. read more

OK, so, I just placed an order with these people. I just needed a handful of onesy twosy stuff for my motorcycle. Their prices are great, as I only need small quantities, and the big box stores are outrageously high for a bag of 6 (#10 screws, qty.6 for $1.50 at HD, $.06 each at Bolt Depot). I placed my order, patted myself on the back for saving a bunch of money, and went on with my day. A half hour later, BOOM! Phone call. It was one of their customer service people, Michelle, asking me about a 3/8" nut that was on my order. She said that the people in the warehouse were filling my order (yes, within a half hour) and noticed that I had mostly 1/4" and 5/16" hardware on my order and the 3/8" nut looked like a mistake. I had to check my list, she said I could call back. Turns out, I made a mistake when placing my order, and I DID mean to get 5/16" nuts. I couldn't be happier with this company. I haven't received my order yet, as I placed it an hour ago, but, if there are any problems with it, you can believe I will be back here to update. If you see no update, you can assume that my service was PERFECT from Bolt Depot. read more

We're building a rustic porch and I needed a lot of stainless and galvanized fasteners. Went to Bolt Depot's website and found it very easy to place the order online. Gave them a quick call to confirm the ground shipping fees since a couple of the 6' lengths of 3/4" and 5/8" threaded rod had an icon in the cart that suggested they may be more expensive to ship. Even with their flat rate ground shipping, Bolt Depot's price was $100+ less than Lowe's or Home Depot and everything was delivered within 4-5 days of placing the order. I have not shopped at the physical store location, but I did all my shopping through their website. I found them with a search on Google. I needed some very specific screws and nuts tor a custom computer build that I am doing. Anyone who does computer modding or building will know how difficult it can be to find exactly what you need when it comes to screws and fittings. Not only did Bolt Depot have exactly what I was looking for, their pricing was reasonable, and the packing and shipping were handled quite well. Don't buy one of the "screw kits" for technical computer repair that you see on Amazon. You can pay $20-$50 for a bunch of screws you don't even need in a kit when all you are looking for is one specific type. The Bolt Depot will allow you to order specifically and exactly what you need without a minimum purchase order, and you can reasonable customize your own "kit" of screws and fittings. Don't rely on Amazon or Newegg for all your answers when it comes to custom building computers. Shop around, and you'll find a business like these guys who will offer you exactly what you need. Their online website is not the prettiest or most well organized, but with a bit of digging around I was able to find what I needed. I will definitely use them again in the future. read more

I called Home Depot first, big mistake, with a question about sizing on cup washers, the person on the phone was nice enough but condescending and claimed it was impossible to know what I needed without my coming in. I then called Bolt Depot, honestly expecting the same answer...The difference was astounding. Shipping was expensive when I can get free shipping from other online sellers, I found this out after the fact when I had to order replacements from another company that were perfect. Delivery was slightly faster than expected. Their website is well organized, with some helpful general information about fasteners. The prices seem pretty reasonable to me. It was way better than hunting through the disorganized fastener drawers at Home Depot. Ordered a bag of 100 metric socket cap screws. Size is not important. What's important is that Bolt Depot advertises one product and sells you another. I ordered 100 partially threaded (PT) bolts. Instead, they sent me full threaded (FT) bolts. I contacted Bolt Depot and they told me they don't sell PT bolts. I questioned that since PT bolt pictures are all over their catalog, their web site and even on the bag that they sent me with 100 screws full of FT bolts. They said: "Oh, it's only for marketing, we don't sell FT bolts"; but you can return the order for a refund. I told them that I was finished with Bolt Depot and that I would let the public know about their deceiving practices. I'm not necessarily claiming that Bolt Depot is fraudulent in any way, but how they do business leads me to question what else are they not honest about? read more

I just had an old-time good American service experience with Bolt Depot, hat's off to them. I ordered some hard to find high-quality stainless steel fasteners from them yesterday and paid for air express delivery as I have an installation crew coming in three days. They had one of their suppliers, Star Stainless, fill part of the order with a direct shipment to me. Both Bolt and Star sent out their shipments the day of my order, and UPS notified me that they would both be delivered the day prior to the installation, as planned. So far, so good. The morning after the order, UPS notified me that they had screwed up the shipment and the parts would arrive the day after the scheduled installation. I sent an email to Bolt Depot relating the problem at 6:30 a.m. Around 8:15, after their customer service department opened at 8, I made a follow-up phone call to Bolt Depot, all prepared to be given the usual "Tough, not our fault, too bad" response. Before I completed half of my prepared litany of woes, and before I had even given my name and order number, the service agent told me that someone was already working on it, and transferred me to that agent. To my delight, the new agent told me that he was ordering a re-shipment by overnight air to arrive as originally scheduled, and he would have UPS return the errant shipment to Star. I have now had two occasions where after an exhaustive search at local big box brick and mortar, I have not been about to find replacement bolts and screws. However, I was able to figure out exactly what I needed at these local stores, and armed with that information it was extremely easy to find what I was looking for on this website. Since I am not that knowledgable about thread counts, materials, etc. I still needed to take my sample part ot the local store to figure it out. But after that, purchasing was straight forward and intuitive. Probably took less than one minute online to find the corresponding part. Yes, due to low cost and high handling of the parts, the shipping is a bit expensive. I used their site a few weeks ago to supplement the metric parts needed to complete a bunk bed by a very well known Swedish flat-packed furniture store. When I purchased the bunk bed, I was missing some hardware. I got NO help in finding spare parts from the furniture giant, so I took it upon myself to figure out how to complete this project. I ordered about $16 worth of metric hardware, and while I felt shipping and handling was a bit expensive ($9 for a tiny 0.5 lb box and 5-7 business days), it arrived when promised.
