As a NYC potter/artist with over 20 years of experience behind the wheel, I was pleased to find such an exceptional place here in the Cleveland area to continue my art. The other artists who I have met in the studio are social and inspiring. There is also a little gallery outside the studio that hosts shows or events for artist. We were invited to an art show last night by a dear friend who is an excellent artist; in several mediums. We arrived and entered to find the establishment was SO much more than I ever dreamed. So many different mediums, so many forms, so many interpretations... it was inspiring. There were so many works I wanted to take home I could have filled my car; but then where would my wife have sat? So I resigned myself to enjoying the beauty of it all in the moment. And commiting to return often. If you enjoy the experience of creativity and the amazement of people's talents, you should definitely make a trip to "Stella's Art Gallery". I opted to make a flower, while my daughter planned to create a flower-shaped ring holder as a surprise gift for her sister, who loves rings. Those were the options given to us by the instructor. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the long wait--20 days--for our pieces to arrive, especially since we paid $25 for shipping. I had to email the owner to remind her to send them out. She was apologetic, and the pieces eventually arrived. However, to our dismay, my daughter's piece turned out to be just a flower, a beautiful flower, but not the ring holder she asked to make with the guidance of her instructor. The instructor was with her every step and guided her through the entire process, but seemed to forget the goal of making it into a ring holder which was an option given to us. I reached out to the owner to explain the situation, but there was no acknowledgment of the mistake or any indication of how it might be corrected. Overall, we were left disappointed.

When I got there, the woman who I believe is the owner was sitting on a bench outside the shop, dragging on a cigarette. She scowled at me as I walked past her through the door. Upon entering, I tried to make eye contact with another employee who was sitting in the back of the store. She did return my glance, but then frowned and looked away. She continued her phone conversation, which was apparently more important than greeting a customer or offering customer service. I walked around the store for a few minutes, but then the lady outside finished her cigarette and scowled at me again as she walked back into the store. That was the last straw, and that shop's last chance to have me as a customer. I wouldn't recommend this place if it was the last yarn shop on earth.

There is a display of figures that were from the old Halle's department store. And they had ornaments that Mr. Hixson had created for the White House. He was there that day, incidentally. I bought a shiny banana ornament, because pretty much every other ornament was golf, nautical or parrot themed. I'm not really into any of those. One thing i thought of was to describe the place as "Hoarders"-ish, then i read my old review and discovered i already had. There were lots of customers that day, and some were buying candied fruit slices out of the front case. Eeps. I'm not even sure those were intentionally candied, or if the ravages of time had petrified them. I' d rather eat my glass banana ornament just to be on the safe side.

Even if they emailed back to say they can't refund the money, I would be fine with that, but NO RESPONSE seems intentional. UPDATE: Immediately after writing this review I suddenly got an email saying "you've been refunded, it takes a few days", no apology or explanataion. Wonderful! Would have loved that communication a week ago.

They do skill checks if you have already done the online training, but they also offer the full in-person class. The class I took was packed to the gills! Nearly 40 people. They combined a BLS and Heartsaver CPR/AED class into one, teaching everyone the BLS way (pulse check). The only difference was that the Heartsaver people could leave without taking the written test afterwards. Despite a class that was a bit crowded, the instructor managed it well. He was funny and made the hours not seems so long, but still did a good job covering the material and noting what changes had been made to practice guidelines since 2 years ago. The official text was not included in the price, but they provided a free handout. He did not do one-on-one skill checks, but instead split the group into 2 and had everyone in each group demonstrate skill at the same time - a big timer saver. This place had nearly all newer manikins with the light-up feedback system under the chest near the shoulder - only a few were still clicking away. This strip-mall place is a bit out of the way in a slightly deserted part of town, but I will definitely keep them in mind in 2 years time. They make feel like if you don't pay the money, then you don't care about your child. We completed most of the program with Huntington Learning Center for ACT, and my child did not increase 1 point. In fact, my child went down 1 point from the initial testing. My child liked the teacher the worked with, but all other staff at the center seemed to be fake. Moreover, all the truly seem to care about is getting your money. Speaking of money, I'm not sure where the money goes. The facility looks old and rundown, including the learning areas and powder room. Overall, my child LOST all confidence in their abilities. It took a private tutor to correct the damage. Luckily, my child ended up increasing 5 points with a private tutor, which is more than the "3-4 point average increase" Huntington assured me my child would get. I would strongly recommend that you go elsewhere for your ACT needs. My child had a very bad experience at a center that seems to be run by people who only care about your money, and not your child. Beware of all the money you will waste at this learning center.
