I am absolutely horrified by my experience at the salon. I saw Sarah, and requested a modern 70s…read moreStevie Nicks cut with curtain bangs. I explained I have wavy/curly hair and needed something low maintenance that I can scrunch and go. I got what I can only describe as a jellyfish cut. I had almost a bowl cut with long layers and straight across bangs. It was embarrassing. After explaining my hair texture and wanting something that showed off waves/curls, I was given a huge fluffy blow out so i had no idea how the cut would actually look styled normally. I did express my dislike for the cut and how i got straight across bangs rather than curtain bangs. I was dismissed and told that I was wrong and just "needed a curling iron". If you're a veteran curtain bang girl--you KNOW that's not how to properly style them. She tried and I looked like I just woke up from a bender. I was repeatedly told by staff how "cute" the cut was after I expressed not liking things. It was an unfinished haircut and it's apparent the stylist panicked during it because the layers were disconnected and the bangs were butchered and nowhere near a curtain. I had to drive to a completely different Ulta to spend an hour and a half in the chair getting it completely fixed/redone. The master stylist I saw was horrified and mentioned the cut was unfinished. I have very fine hair and without good texturizing it looks very chunky/disconnected when layered. My bangs were cut so short the new stylist couldn't do anything except a "comb over" from my crown and said it will be 2 months of growth to come back from this cut. At least I now look like myself again. The manager at OG salon DID refund me which I appreciate. But when i showed her a picture of the cut she ALSO doubled down saying it was "cute". It really just made me feel invalidated like I was the problem. Maybe she meant it nicely, but I had been through a lot with my hair in 2 days and honestly, it was an UGLY haircut. I could have complained in the chair but I was so afraid of what a "fix" might entail I just politely left.

After just leaving from this store and reading the reviews my experience makes sense now…read more As I walk into the store, mind you I'm a tall man that doesn't always wear designer clothes or all black so today I'm wearing my gym clothes, the older women behind the counter hones in on me and asked me what I'm looking for. Already assuming I have never been in a cosmoprof. After I say to her that I'm looking for travel shampoo and conditioner she continues to ask me if I'm a licensed professional. Now mind you for those who don't know this store is only for licensed professionals. Which I have been for 15 years. I proceed to let her know how rude it is to assume because I'm a man that I don't belong there. How do I know it's because of my appearance is because this isn't the first time it's happened. Now it's never happened right when I walk into the door but it's happened. I also know it's because of my appearance since my wife is an esthetician and she has NEVER been asked that question. Every woman I know in the industry has never been asked before either. So the idea her explanation of "I ask all new faces that walk in" is complete BS!!!!! I choose this industry because it's suppose to be a business of no judgement. Yet the store we need to go to buy our supplies judges. This women wasn't resentful or sorry for judging me. She was full of excuses and reasons why she did what she did. There's nothing more annoying than someone who can't just own their mistakes. And she was full of them. She had no interest for a suggestion to maybe treat her customers better. Again with an excuse. As I walk out of the store it reads on the door "licensed professionals only" I think to myself and look back and say to the women it even says it on the door. She either assumed I couldn't read or I was going to try and get the products without a license. Either way she thought I didn't belong. I have been to dozens and dozens of cosmoprofs. From Seattle to Phoenix and by far this women was the peach of them all. Avoid this store at all costs. Maybe they won't make any money and will have to move on from what seemed to be a manager that is tanking a store.

I rang the bell for assistance, which didn't work--something the employees were apparently aware of but never addressed. Even though staff saw me standing there, no one came over to help. I eventually had to walk over, wait in line, and ask if someone could assist me or if I was supposed to help myself. Only then was I told, somewhat rudely, that the bell was broken. This kind of service is unacceptable--customers should not have to chase down help, especially when the staff can clearly see someone is waiting. A little courtesy and attention would go a long way.
