I picked bolay after a workout. I really loved the options for Bolay! The amount of combinations allowed for a regular bowl is perfect!! You can add extra protein or anything like that if you need. Sherif let me try the two chicken options, since I was in the middle. Both delicious, but went with teriyaki. Sherif was very patient and helpful. Much appreciated, as this was my first time. Love that they had banana peppers as one of the final toppers. Great touch! The restaurant its self is super clean and bright, and spacious with lots of windows. Tons of parking too! Great visit! I originally was going to Chick-fil-A, but I decided to change my final stop to Bolay because I passed by it and saw the sign and figured I could go for something a little healthier. It was a easy drive and parking was easy with lots of space. It's in the plaza with the Michaels and PetSmart, conveniently located to two other similar options, which are chipotle and just salad. Once you enter, there's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating and everything inside Looked clean. I walked to the beginning of the line so I can place my order. I asked what was popular and I was advised that most people just build their own bowl so I did just that. I got the small bowl so it comes with two base one vegetable one protein and like three toppings for about like $12. I was advised, though that the base can be substituted for an additional veggie instead, so that would mean one base and two veggies. As you can see in the photos, it was like there weren't prepped well enough because when I went in there, there was like barely anything, but I made it work. I did just wish that there were more fresh and available options. And for my drink, I ended up buying a bottle of Pepsi. As soon as I opened it, it didn't fizzle, and when I drink it, it was extremely flat. So I went back in and let them know. I got a new bottle, it was better, but I'm not going to lie. It was definitely still pretty flat so that was pretty disappointing. Overall total came out to be about like $15 but I gave a two dollar tip because the kid who worked behind the counter was nice, I believe his name was Jose. Overall, I don't know if it's the time I came or what (I came around 4:30 PM) but it was definitely a disappointment because I was really looking forward to it to be honest because it's been forever since I've had Bolay. I have frequent South Florida Bolay locations but this was my first time at this location and it was a great experience. There was ample amount of parking and a large, covered outdoor seating area. Love the variety you can choose when you create your own bowl. The sweet potato noodles are by far the best base. Food is always fresh and tasty. I was a bit hungry while driving along US-1 and decided to pull into the Bal Harbour Square to get a quick bite at Bolay. Inside the restaurant definitely had a lunchroom cafeteria look going on. There were only a few people dining both inside and outside with more steadily coming to either pick up their order or place an order. I approached the counter and carefully looked at the menu on the wall. I chose a regular bol which consisted of 2 bases (Jasmine rice & chopped kale salad), 1 veggie (roasted mushrooms), 1 protein (teriyaki chicken), up to 3 toppings (chopped cilantro, feta cheese, toasted sliced almonds), and 1 sauce (creamy garlic & herb) on the side. As the female employee placed my choices in a bowl, visually it didn't look appetizing. I sat at an available table to eat and after the first two bites thought to myself...it wasn't all that bad. The Jasmine rice was cooked to a soft consistency and was tasty. The teriyaki chicken and mushrooms were tender and flavorful. At first I was unsure I would like the cilantro, almonds, and feta cheese in the mix; but it actually complemented the kale salad by adding appeal, flavor, and crunch. I didn't use the sauce. In my opinion, it wasn't needed. The juice I picked was delicious though it wasn't as cold as I would have liked it. Overall the ambiance was chill, and the service and the food was okay. I don't see myself frequenting this place much, but I would come back to try one more regular bol creation. I know exactly how I want it next time. read more

The workers call out hello before you even get to the counter. They always seem to be in a good mood and chatty too. 5 star food: the food is both a good healthy option and very tasty. Kale salad with black rice, teriyaki chicken and pineapple habanero sauce is my favorite combo. 5 star ambiance: they've done an amazing job with a location in a shopping plaza next to a busy highway. First time receiving bad service at this location. Was informed I'd have to pay additional fees for each topping (news to me based on my previous experience here). Upon being told this by an associate, I asked for someone else to confirm this new rule. Whom I'd assumed to be shift manager (Geraldine) came over to (seemingly reluctantly) respond to my request and was extremely condescending in pointing to the newly updated menu above her...as if to indicate that I couldn't read it. As a Black woman I found that justifiably offensive. During the remainder of the exchange she barely showed any effort to accommodate my request, but finally honored that my additional toppings be added once I indicated that (whom I'd assumed to be) the store manager had honored them in the past. In parting she loudly reminded me that next time that my toppings would not be an option. While I understand the new implement of topping charges, I do not understand my recent experience at this location or treatment by this employee. I had never been to Bolay, but I love Fresh Kitchen and knew these were cousins as far as restaurants go, so I was excited to try, though skeptical that it would surpass my fave! I loved the amounts of options they had that were different from FK, from beans to black rice to pickled onions! I got all three of the aforementioned ingredients, as well as broccoli, two types of chicken, and the creamy garlic sauce. It was all so delicious, though I have to admit the creamy garlic sauce didn't QUITE stand up to FK's! I was also wildly impressed with how clean the restaurant lobby and bathrooms were. I have been eagerly waiting for this bolay to open! After construction delays, it was finally time. I was able to snag event brite tickets for the grand opening and received a free regular size bowl. I chose the sweet potato noodles, broccoli, and teriyaki chicken. Every thing was very tasty and the staff was all very nice! (Literally, the management was opening the door for guests.) since it was grand opening day, it was a bit busy but they served some samples while we waited in line for our turn to order.
