Update: this place is crap now. Save your money or go to the real wok n fire in Elmhurst. Since the change they have crap quality veggie spring rolls- probably frozen from Costco. The chicken quality is worse than dog food. I decided to give my favorite dish another try tonight (double pan fried noodles add chicken- which they DO charge extra for) it tasted like frozen and thawed grisly meat. Totally disappointed in how down hill this place went. We used to come here weekly- now we will never be going back. This place is hit or miss lately with the quality of the food. Pretty good Asian fusion restaurant... Surprise when we walked in and asked if we had reservations! I was like what??? But server said how many and if we mind sitting at booth... New Year. New Name. Same Owner. This is the ridiculous sign that's been hanging over their restaurant since somewhere around October of 2016. That's right, their absurd sign is now relevant again if you're either the most unobservant person in the world or have never been there. I guess I should take the fact that this owner has no shame to mean that it will be up there for another year, but at this point I suspect it'll be there until Father Time takes it down. Why does all of that matter? Well, let me tell you, the fact that the owner is shameless enough to leave a sign up that should have only had meaning the first few months of last year up for a full calendar year says plenty about what you have in store for yourself if you are foolish enough to walk in. This place is a shadow of what it was when it was Wok n' Fire and in spite of what the sign is trying to imply, the service is worse, the food is worse, and the value is worse. The only thing you can say is the same is the decor. The best thing about this place was that it had reasonably priced sushi that was actually pretty good, too bad it's overpriced and crappy now! If that wasn't enough the entrees now give you less food compared to their Wok n' Fire counterparts. Owner, when Father Time decides to take the sign down for you, might I suggest your new one say, "New Year. New Name. Same Owner. Same Sign."? I wish zero stars was an option.. We ordered for a work meal through Seamless- Expected delivery time was 12:30pm. Co-worker called to add small change to order, Bok Choy said that they did not have the order, their tablet was not charged (Plug it in...?). We called back again to get an update, they said that the driver was at the restaurant to pick up the order but could not confirm the order. Same Owner, Different Name. I cant say enough how dissapointed I am after giving this restaurant a second chance. I visited before when it was called wok n fire. All they did was change the name. Everything started off on the wrong foot from the rude hostess to the waitress who gave me false information about specials and the menu. Food wise- Some was tasty but there are definitely more AUTHENTIC asian food around the area actually owned by people who know how to make the food right. I read some of the reviews about the owner Siri here and I have to say I agree- If you complain-- be prepared to get a call or a message of response harassing you. He doesnt apologize. He is not a good business man. He called me back being really aggressive. THe atmosphere is dark. Sure they have specials and happy hours to draw you in but I tried it and had a bad experience. First saw him in San Diego at a pop up and he lit the dance floor aflame. My experience was so enjoyable that I followed him to NYC (across the country for me) just to see him live. He plays the perfect blend of Tech House and middle school throwbacks that will be sure to make your body waddle - as long as you don't act like a snobby model (tough for me). I walked in and was immediately greeted and sat very warmly. The atmosphere is laid back with a dim lighting that makes for a nice easy going time to check the menu and get drinks. I got the dragon roll, my friend got the calamari and fried rice. All the dishes were absolutely amazing. The presentation was splendid and the sushi was savory. Service was superb and timely. It's an American-Asian mashup that's decorated nicely, and a cool-looking place (dark lighting, urban colors and vibe) to have a nice dinner if you happen to be in this area. It's also good for business lunches. They run the gamut of Asian food, from Japanese to Thai to Malaysian to Chinese, and does an ok job. Average sushi rolls, nothing to scream about still tasty enough. The rest of the food's also just average, nothing really great. It's a reliable place for takeout, no unpleasant surprises. So. We dined here on a Groupon. The Good: Came were with a group of 4 at 7:30 on a Friday night, got seated fairly quickly and our server was friendly. The Specialty Maki Trio is a good deal. Get 3 signature rolls for $38- not bad for Signature rolls. We ordered the Calamari and Crab Rangoon as apps. Fresh and tasty. Calamari was lightly-breaded and soft, not rubbery. Crab Rangoon was crispy, crunchy, and the cream cheese filling was perfect. My favorite sushi was the Inky Roll - the seared scallop on top was tasty, wrapped in avocado also added another layer of texture and flavor. The Bad: We ordered the Scorpion, St. Charles, Las Vegas and Inky Roll. The Sushi rolls here were good, not great. For the prices of the rolls on the menu, I was expecting flavor profiles that were a tad more complex and refined, but I felt as is the rolls were merely average - no particular flavors that stood out as amazing. Scorpion - Was not a fan of the tuna on top - too pastey and the lack of flavor combined with the amount of tuna really masked the rest of the flavors in the roll. This is not a sushi restaurant. It's an Asian fusion restaurant that has sushi on the menu. Against my better judgment I went to Bok Choy because it was a Friday night after work and I was too lazy to travel the 5 miles to my regular sushi restaurant. I'm not sure how the other Asian selections are on the menu at Bok Choy taste but the sushi was definitely subpar. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and a crazy roll. The shrimp tempura was not warm and the shrimp was not crisp as in a traditional shrimp tempura roll and the sushi rice was not fresh. It tasted like grocery store sushi. I had an upset stomach most of the night where I had a few ginger ales and a tums chaser. I'm grateful I didn't barf. My advice, leave the sushi for an actual Japanese sushi restaurant where they treat sushi as an art not an Asian fusion restaurant that's trying to be trendy by adding expensive and creatively named rolls on the menu. read more

This place is in the same little section as my dentist. I usually just go out to Addison to go to the dentist, not to eat so I probably passed this place a hundred times but never considered eating there. My friend and I were going to see a movie across the street at the Marcus Addison so I was looking for dinner options in the area which would be ok for my recent gallbladder removal surgery. Mexican was no-good...and I didn't want to opt for bar food so I thought asian would be ok, and it was! We both ordered a mai tai - $8 good size and they didn't cheat us on the alcohol! We ordered the lettuce wraps for an appetizer - it was a good size portion for the two of us! I ordered the sweet/sour steak and brown rice - very filling! And for dessert we got the great wall of chocolate. We walked out of there pleasantly stuffed...our service was great. The vibe in there is nice too, very different from what we're used to. A lot of the tables around us were eating sushi...I don't eat it but there seem to be a lot of options and a popular choice. By all means, check this place out! read more

Go on a regular basis and today was the first time I was disappointed. Nobody told us the happy hour specials for the day so we order our usual happy hour eats only to discover today is different! I told Josie the bartender as a courtesy to mention what the specials are before people order. Her response there is a sign up front and offers no remedy. There sure was a sign .... for Saturday specials. Today is Monday. Our usual bartender wasn't there. She always directs us in the right direction when ordering. Then I read that Bok Choy is really the same please with the same sushi chef and staff. Not sure why they changed the name but I was happy to try it out and enjoyed the same fresh tasting sushi and specialty rolls. Since Wednesday was half off specialty rolls I tried the Papa Roll and YumYum Roll and enjoyed both. Especially liked the Yum Yum Roll. If you liked Wok n Fire or have never tried this Addison sushi place, I suggest you give it a try. I went there a while ago and got sushi with my boyfriend, and it was okay, kinda mediocre, but we still really enjoyed it. And I recently went here because I thought I'd be able to get a vegetarian option with no problem since they offer veggie and tofu options. So I ordered my dish with tofu and got it back with beef. I corrected the waiter and instead of remaking it with tofu, they mixed the beef and the tofu together /: just a bit of a bummer experience. I dined here with coworker last two weeks and it was impressed me enough to come back this time. I came at lunch time and it wasn't that crowded but it took 10 minutes for the waitress to take my order and looked like she went around the restaurant and took other orders as well at the same time. Another 25 minutes passed before I got my order. I ended up asking for a take out box and the bill because I ran out of time for lunch. I've been going here for over 5yrs and yes the quality has gone down but I love the ahi tuna salad and never had a problem before. I ordered my salad for pick up and once I got home and started to eat the salad I discovered the strand of hair. Initially seeing the hair I recorded myself pulling it out of the fish because I knew it would be a possibility they would say it was my hair, even though I have GREEN dreadlocks. I was a little irritated because I had to leave my house to take it back but Ive worked in several restaurants and I know things happen. Once I got back to Bok Choy the hostess took it back to be remade and I sat at the bar. I saw the owner come up to talk her and they pointed at me but I just continued to wait. She brought me back my salad and I asked would I be getting a refund, the owner came and told me that it was my hair (because I'm black but I have green dreadlocks) even after showing him the video he still said it wasn't there fault and that I was lying. It was completely prejudice and disrespectful to say it was my hair and that I was lying because I'm a black person with natural hair even after showing him the video. I've never been to any restaurant where if there is hair found esp with video evidence where they don't remake it, offer you a refund but then to also accuse someone of lying just to get a refund. Even after the owner walked away with the remade salad in his hand I showed the video to the hostess and she said that she can see that the hair came out of the fish. Please do not go here and get hairy salads or support an owner who can't own up to their mistakes and who will also make insensitive and prejudice remarks to a long time paying customer. Greeted by a nice host and led to our choice of seating. That is the best part of the night. No one came by for at least 15 minutes to let us know why we were being ignored. "your server is really busy tonight" I wanted to say "well, what are you doing right now, grab us some drinks" He walked away only to return a few moments later (guess he read my mind "I'll be taking care of you tonight since he's so busy" Ok, this isn't the hottest place in town and people were NOT lined up to get in here. It wasn't even near being a full house. Why was he being so dramatic about how busy it was? I would hate to see their performance on an actual busy night. We got drinks (martini with sparkling sake is pretty good), but the promise of water lingered. Food came out after a longer than normal wait time and our server didn't return until much much later. Food is average and dare I say not much better than your local foodcourt at the mall. Waved down a gentleman to try to see about our waiter and he holds out his hand and yells out " someone will be with you". When he walks by again I call him over and ask if he is the manager. Unfortunately, he is. I tell him how terrible our service has been and he launches into this full speech about how someone called off and they are really busy. Meanwhile I hear crickets in this place....is this busy?! I want to scream at this point! My blood is boiling and I feel myself getting angry...he apparently senses danger and backs away with an "I'll see what I can do" I'll see what I can do =50% discount I would like to say I was satisfied after that but the nonchalant attitude of the manager , crappy service and mediocre food is barely worth one star. Full disclosure: I know a lot of people that work for Wok N Fire and I like them. I will now make this fact irrelevant by my objective review. There are a lot of Asian Restaurants in the suburbs. It is a fact. Some of these locations, like Super China Buffet, will likely make you violently ill. Others, like Thai Garden or Sushi Ya, specialize in their respective cuisines and are amazingly successful. Others still are there to give you an over all package- places like Stir Crazy, P.F. Chang's, Big Bowl, and Wok N Fire. With that in mind, please understand I'm not reviewing Wok N Fire against your favorite little Vietnamese bistro tucked away downtown. I'm comparing WNF with the other restaurants locally in its class. WNF is basically a more compact version of Stir Crazy that switches out the "create your own stir fry" market bar with a sushi bar instead. It's a great trade-off. The ambiance is similar to P.F. Chang's, but the dining area is much smaller, intimate, and quiet enough to carry on a conversation if you're there with a date. The menu is quite similar in style and flavor to Stir Crazy's, with a selection of popular Chinese and Thai dishes in addition to the sushi. There are lots of exceptional dishes you shouldn't miss- the Panang, the Mongolian Beef, the Lettuce Wraps, and the Calamari are only a few. The Rainbow, Dragon and Tiger Roll Maki roll sushi are great too. A lot of reviewers have objected to price, but WNF has about the same price point as Big Bowl or PF Chang's with entrees that run about $11- $15. On Sundays, Maki Rolls and appetizers run half price all day; it's a really fantastic deal! My girlfriend and I had calamari, lettuce wraps, and two glasses of wine last Sunday for under $20. And the service has always been super, especially at the bar. But again, I know people. Will this be the best Asian food you've ever had? Maybe; it depends what you order. But if it isn't, you won't be any more disappointed than you would at Big Bowl or P.F. Chang's- which is to say, you probably won't be tremendously let down at all. Second time here, and likely the last. Wife bought a groupon, so we cashed it in a few days ago. While her food experience was ok, mine was terrible. We ordered Edamame as a starter, which I would think is pretty hard to screw up. It was overcooked, and oiled/buttered for some reason. Grease on edamame is totally uncalled for.. why not just keep it simple? We also ordered the pot stickers for my daughter. They were edible, but very dry and bland. I ordered the seared "Ahi tuna", which was probably the worst I've ever tasted. It was overdone, and therefore more like tuna steak than Ahi. I could have lived with that, but there were also large areas of tendon or something, indicating a very cheap cut of fish. My dish came with fried rice which wasn't bad, and steamed broccoli. My wife had kung pow shrimp which she liked. Service - our server was slow and clueless. The manager came by regarding my tuna, and ended up taking it off the bill, but didn't apologize or show particular concern. Won't be going back by choice any time soon. read more

In my experience, when you go to a sushi bar, you go to the bar. If you go to an Oriental restauraunt, you are seated. Nearly all of the waitstaff is not Asian. The only time I go here is to sit at the bar/ sushi bar or get take out. DO NOT GET THE HONG KONG calamari. Every time I get exactly what I expect. I am definetilly not pretentious so good food is just that. The funny thing is I learnt last time I was there that the sushi chef wasn't Japanese but rather something else, but the Latino chef spoke Japanese. Weird. Their selection of meat is above average of any Oriental cuisine in the area, their preperation is excellent- no gummy bits of chicken or steak :) You must have their Miso Shiru. I've been to Wok 'n Fire a couple of times now, and haven't had a full blown "wow" experience. The food is good - but slightly overpriced, which is typically a huge turn off for me. Not that I have a problem paying for good food...I have a problem paying for just decent food. ((Example: Teriyaki Steak for $22.95. If I'm going to pay 23 bucks for a steak, it's not going to be at Wok 'n Fire)) However, the menu is huge. You have the option of a variety of Asian appetizers, soups and salads, noodle dishes, stir-fry dishes and sushi. As a non-seafood eater, I was disappointed to see the limited veggie rolls. Avocado or cucumber doesn't really cut it for me. ((boo)). Most recently I gorged myself in a tasty bowl of miso soup and the Chap Chae noodles ((udon noodles with veggies, tofu, and a soy sesame sauce)). Both dishes were good, although the noodles were a little too saucy for my liking. My girl friend had the crab rangoon and the Sesame Chicken. I've had the sesame chicken in the past, and I will say, it's pretty darn good! I'm also a big fan of the Vegetable Egg Rolls. Service lacked some. Our waitress wasn't very attentive, and lacked a little friendliness. Not that I expect to be catered to ((well, some - that's what gratuity is for!)), but I don't like having to hunt someone down to have my water refilled or grab the check. I dig the atmosphere. I love the Asian bistro feel with the contemporary and trendy decor. The restaurant is fairly small, so I can see it getting quite packed during peak dining times. Overall, my experiences have lacked a little something. The food is good, but for the prices I much prefer a Yu's Mandarin or P.F. Changs.
