Perhaps like grandma would make at home if your grandma lived at your house and would make a full menu of items for you whenever you wanted it! I ordered the fried chicken, sweet potato fries, and cabbage. It came with hushpuppies. I should note that I don't like most restaurant hushpuppies. These were light, crisp on the outside, and lightly sweet. These were worth eating. My chicken was good with a crunchy exterior but moist meat. The only thing I did not like (nor did my wife) was the ranch dressing. We like ranch on sweet potato fries, theirs were little containers of shelf-temperature dressing, not the good garlicky and buttermilk ranch I crave from many restaurants. I think this was Tom's brand. They were not worth eating. We did not have a desert but the brownies at the counter looked pretty good. Prices were low and our lunch and drinks with a tip was just under $30.00

The service was amazing, gave good recommendations on food choices. Super quick, very kind. Service was amazing. To the food, well, everything seemed quickly put together. Maybe it's just today but the food didn't seem to have much effort put into it. The slaw is mayo based but lacked flavor, hush puppies were pretty good. The other nuggets in the corner were corn nugs! How cool is that.... they were a good combo of batter and corn, sweet and sassy. The chicken is what you would expect at a family gathering at ma maws but could tell it wasn't freshly cooked but hey, it's a Wednesday night. Next, the girls cooking were stressing and rushing everything and there weren't THAT many people in the drive thru. They were yelling and trying to get it figured out but it took us wayyyy too long to get our food. When we left, we saw through the drive thru window that the girls were literally calling people on their phones. Just as my wife was about to eat the last bit of rice, she noticed a white piece that we initially thought was overcooked rice. Upon closer inspection, we realized it was a maggot. This made us both feel sick to our stomachs, and we felt like throwing up. We had already put some of the rice into our tacos. We informed the lady at the counter, but she didn't seem surprised or apologize; she just told us we didn't have to pay for the meal. When we stepped outside, my wife's stomach was upset, and she felt like throwing up, as did I. After getting some air for about five minutes, I decided to go back inside to take pictures. I informed the two ladies inside that I was going to take pictures, but one of the ladies, who hadn't been there initially, told the other lady in Spanish to take the plate away and not let me take a picture. We have never been in a situation where we might have eaten maggots. We will be going to the hospital to get checked

Not anymore. They blamed COVID and we all went along with that for a while with diminished menus and higher prices but that time has passed. Now it's expensive and still not very good, in fact it's often bad. And I'm disappointed for it each time I let myself eat at a Taco Bell and remember I'm going to be over charged for bad food, they will almost assuredly get my order wrong (and they did this time too) and I'll over pay for it too. I honestly wish we had Baja Fresh, Del Taco, Taco John's or a Jack in the Box all of whom have better food and still generally at a better price too. If you order online you can at least ask for some preferences, not that they do it, but you can ask. They did bring back the green sauce, only now they charge for each little packet.

Smithfield BBQ in Warsaw is pure comfort food for me. It's right in my small hometown and no matter…read morehow long I've been gone, this is always one of my first stops when I'm back. It's just that kind of place that brings me so much comfort. This restaurant is reliable, unfussy, and really good at what it does. As is the case throughout the South, the fresh brewed iced tea is one of the highlights. One sip and it immediately tastes like home. My favorite thing on the menu has always been and will always be the Brunswick stew. It's absolute comfort food that's warm, hearty, and nostalgic in a way that hits every time. It's an Eastern North Carolina tradition, and Smithfield BBQ is one of the best in the business. As for other regional specialities, the hushpuppies deserve their own shoutout too. The slightly sweet cornbread batter is perfectly fried every time, which makes these little carb morsels crunchy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside. I've been eating them dipped in ketchup since I was a kid and I'm not about to stop now. Quit quietly judging me, LOL! The bbq sandwiches are messy and not designed to be easy to eat on the go, but the bbq plates are the best deal. I love getting the pulled pork plate with potato salad (the best). Since I'm Eastern N.C. born and raised, I basically was born with a taste for classic vinegar bbq sauce. Smithfield's is terrific, and I love drowning my pork in that tangy goodness. Every bite seriously brings me back to lazy summer Sundays hanging out with my best friend in my Grandmama's grassy backyard. You can't put a price on those culinary memories.   Service is fast, takeout is easy, the dining room's small but cozy, and there's even a drive-through for when you're in a hurry. Smithfield BBQ is not trying to be trendy or fancy, nor have they ever been. It's just a place that serves really solid Eastern North Carolina BBQ done right. For me, Smithfield's isn't just a restaurant, it's a family tradition.
