Never having visited a vet just for cats, we thought we would try with our grumpy 15-year-old feline when we suspected an ear infection. Precious vet experiences had proved frustrating since vets and techs weren't comfortable getting him out of his carrier due to his hissing and growling. Instead they relied on heavy sedation before examining him. This was not the case at Boise Cat Clinic. The vet and tech worked together to calm and examine him and were even able to get many sample swabs from his ears. Super impressed with Dr. Roller and her Staff!! Our kitty, Parma, has Chronic Kidney Disease and is 17 years old. I was looking for a Cat Specialist that could help us manage his kidney disease. Unfortunately, our Primary Vet wasn't able to provide Specialty Care services for CKD for cats. Dr. Roller was the one that diagnosed him with Hypertension and placed him on medication after he had one episode that I suspected may have been a stroke. This was after he was taken to a 24/7 vet hospital after the incident and there was no diagnosis. This was amazing!! I am ever so grateful to Dr. Roller and her Staff. I have been taking my two feline fur-babies here for over 5 years- and I'm just so grateful that Boise has veterinary services catered towards cats! Not having barking dogs in the office makes vet visits a lot less stressful for me and my kitties. The entire staff here is friendly, attentive, and obviously just love cats. They all just have so much feline knowledge that they love to share- The Boise Cat Clinic often shares on their social medias information about common illnesses, immunizations, and really cute cat pictures. I highly recommend checking out their social media pages and website for loads of informational content. They have this really cute section on their website called "Noodles Notes" to keep you in the loop and it's so freaking cute. They offer cat vaccinations, diagnostics, dental care, and weight loss plans. My big boy Chunk has been on a dietary plan with the Cat Clinic for a few years now. We have him on a special diet plan because carrying extra weight can cause serious health issues including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. On this diet plan, Chunk can come in for free weigh-ins. While Chunk is on his weight loss journey, I really appreciate the personalized health plan and all of the resources they offer. The thing that really meant a lot to me is when I first took my sweet Saja girl here, the staff took a picture of her for her file; and a few weeks later we received a postcard with that photo of her and hand written notes from all the folks at the Boise Cat Clinic. I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. My fur baby, Kitten, is about 15 years old and I had taken her to the same clinic her whole life until recently. I switched to The Cat Clinic last month for her annual check up and blood work. They went above and beyond on Kitten's physical exam. The vet and techs did a more thorough exam than she has ever had with previous clinics. They explained what exactly they were doing, why they were doing it, and what the were looking for. I had a lot of questions and they answered them all without making me feel like I was asking too many. The whole staff was incredible. I was very emotional due to the possible medical conditions that come with elderly cats and fear of the unknown (waiting for blood test results). The lovely lady at the front desk brought me Kleenex, held my hand, and comforted me. I firmly believe that if I hadn't have taken Kitten to this clinic, the other vets would not have found her conditions and her health would have rapidly declined. Our feline family has been seen at the Boise Cat Clinic for about five years. Throughout this time we have been exceptionally pleased with the care all of our cats have received from every staff member- reception to veterinarian. Both the humans and the cats in our family have been treated with dignity and respect, and the veterinary staff clearly explains their recommendations, including price. We have never felt pressure to spend beyond our means, nor have we felt shamed when we are not able to immediately schedule pricier procedures. It always feels as if each appointment is customized to the cat that is scheduled for that day, and the Dr. Roller and Dr. Irwin provide an exceptional continuity of care, especially for some of our cats with more complex medical issues. Both doctors have contacted us after business hours to explain lab results or check in on sick kitties. The whole clinic gives the feeling of truly caring about their clients. No one wants to face the day when it is time to say good-bye to a pet, but when it was time for our beloved Emily and Willie to cross the rainbow bridge, everyone was incredibly compassionate and patient. We were allowed to remain with them as long as we needed on both occasions and every effort was made to ensure that Emily's and Willie's best interests, comfort, and dignity were paramount. As others have said, the clinic is clean, quiet, well organized, and set up with the needs of cats in mind. Every exam is "tip to tail," meaning that each body system of the cat is examined and explanation is provided along the way. Accommodations are made for shy or frightened cats, including splitting procedures/vaccines across multiple days and providing towels during the exam so that only the part being examined is in view. Leena has a possible UTI so I called Boise Cat Clinic to make sure they were open and arrived 30 minutes before closing with the intent to request a 5 minute lab test and then a prescription for antibiotics. Easy right? With pet carrier in one hand and a cast covering the other I struggle with the door only to find out the desk clerk is more worried about closing time then helping out a now former customer. So, so, so wonderful!! I am a new client and had an end-of-day appointment, but was escorted to a room and seen by the vet right on time. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I loved that Dr. Roller explained everything that she was doing and noted things out loud rather than just writing in the chart. I never felt like anything was being pushed on me--I was given options and the pros and cons were explained, and then she let me decide what I wanted to do. The vet techs and helpers were fantastic, as well--so gentle and sweet with my cat when she was being examined and getting vaccines. I went there on a whim solely based off of their online reviews since I am fairly new to this area and my cat has been in good health up until this past week. They got me an appointment ASAP and took such great care of my kitty Karl. I was given full, detailed updates multiple times during his 2 and a half day stay so that I never had to wonder how he was doing. Upon discharge we were given all of the materials needed to keep Karl healthy for the next two weeks throughout his recovery including food and medication as well as follow up calls the next day. If you do not have enough money to spare up front to keep your kitty healthy I would recommend applying for the care credit program. He is happy and at home now doing great thanks to these wonderful ladies. We found Dr. Roller when our 7 year old, grey tabby, Georgie, had gotten a bad cold for the 3rd time in 6 months. Knowing this was unusual and not wanting to just be given antibiotics again by our other vet, we brought her in. She quickly diagnosed Georgie with FeLV and mast cell cancer and has been there every step of the way through Georgie's treatment. Georgie has now had her spleen removed and while the cancer is not gone, her white blood cell count is up, the FeLV is in remission and she is feeling very frisky and happy. Dr. Roller and her staff have shown my family and all 3 cats such care and compassion, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else to have them taken care of because I know they will be treated with love, respect and excellent care. I have had kids with fur both cats and dogs for decades but I have NEVER had the experience I had at the Boise Cat Clinic. Dr. Roller did an extremely thorough exam of my guy Oscar who apparently has asthma. In the 9 years of his life he has had bouts of coughing and wheezing but no one ever told me he had asthma. No matter what Dr. Roller did she explained everything in detail. Ex-rays were taken and she asked me to follow her. I have never had a VET that took me to the ex-ray room to see the results which again she went through in detail. Her staff was amazing as well!! One gal came in and showed me an easy way to administer pills and the pill device was included. Given a week had gone by I received a call inquiring how Oscar was doing. So disappointed with this clinic. I tried reaching out with the hardest decision ever, to help me say goodbye to my cat. Because they hadn't seen her in 2 years I would have to have a $59 vet check first. I tried to take her in last year when she was attacked by pitties and they referred me to West Vet. To do the decent thing for her is an additional $95, and no they won't apply the vet check towards the euthanization. Then decide what to do with her remains, with an additional cost of course! I've had this cat for 14 years.. I know she's in pain and experiencing a poor quality of life. When our black Manx, Wheezer, quickly became very ill, I searched the Internet for a new provider that I could hopefully have more overall confidence in. It was thought that Wheezer may have bladder cancer after her initial exam, tests and X-ray. Dr. Roller did not want to jump to any conclusions without further testing and went over all the options to include projected costs. Wheezer (my 17 yr old daughter's cherished Christmas present when she was 4 yoa) is a family member so cost wasn't our main concern but I appreciated seeing things broken out with a recommended diagnosis and treatment plan. I was very emotional at the time and also appreciated the empathy, professionalism and expertise of Dr. Roller and staff. After further testing, treatment and follow-up over a couple months, Wheezer is back to being her adorable self and we had one very sick kitty!
