Beware, they do not practice good cleaning protocol. Went there for only 2nd time and the table was dirty and had hair on it. The tech told me a Pyrenees had just been seen in the room. Well, while waiting for my pup to be seen I was talking to the owner of the Pyrenees who said she was there because he'd been throwing up. She was waiting for medications. So, not a good feeling because who knows if the poor dog was sick with a communicable virus or something. read more

Do NOT let Dr Wilson examine your pets! We took our 11 year old Corgi/Cairn mix in because she was having a hacking cough, wheezing and swollen abdomen. He listened with a stethoscope and took her temperature. He said her lungs sounded normal and no fever. The exam was barely ten minutes. We raised our concerns about her obvious discomfort. He shrugged us off and sent us home with an antibiotic and anti inflammatory. The bill was $180 for a quick, barely ten minute exam! We took her to another clinic. Who found she has fluid in her lungs and belly. It is a very serious condition. She was prescribed furosimine to reduce edema. Her test results were sent to Westvet for consult because they have the equipment to do more advanced testing. I can't believe that he didn't hear the gurgling fluid in her lungs! It can be heard without a stethoscope. This man should NOT be a practicing veterinarian! We had been happy with Animals R Us in the past. But from now on we are going elsewhere. read more

I've only taken my dog to this vet once so far, but my dog is not easy to handle at the vet and gets very nervous and scared. The techs and doctor handled her with great care and compassion despite her temperament and that matters a lot to me. It's hard taking a "reactive" dog to the vet because I'm scared of judgement and felt none of that here. Definitely would recommend. read more

We changed to Animals R Us about 4 years ago, taking our beloved dog (Kaydee) to them. She was 15 years old and was receiving laser treatments on her back and hips. She was doing great. One visit with Dr. Wilson approached me about having her teeth cleaned. I told him that Dr. Murphy said that he would not clean her teeth because of her age. Reluctantly I agreed with Dr Wilson to have her teeth cleaned. During the procedure he extracted 18 of her teeth, causing her to wake up twice while under anesthesia. He gave her more anesthesia and continued. Our poor Kaydee must of been in severe pain and discomfort. After the procedure she passed away. We believe her being sedated for such a very long time was one of the causes of her death. Eighteen teeth pulled with a 15 year old dog. Dr. Wilson should have known to stop the process when she woke up twice. We are devasted by Dr. Wilson actions, and we will never get of this. I had two appointments yesterday for my two dogs. I arrived early for my 11:10 appointment. At 11:30 I was taken into an exam room. I sat in the exam room with my two stressed out pups waiting for the Vetrinarian. I could hear him talking outside the room with a co worker about nothing important! At 11:45, I walked out of the exam room with my two dogs. There were 6 people at the front desk who said "can. I help you/" I said "what good is an appointment if the Dr. is never on time?' This was the second time I had visited this clinic and it will absolutely be the last. Each time I have taken my animals there, I have never gotten the feeling the Vets care about you or your pets. If I could give Dr Wilson a negative star review, I would. I took my 10yr old Golden Retriever in THREE times (July, August. Sept), for a limp and requested an x-ray on the 3rd visit but was told my dogs limp was just old age and he didn't think an x-ray was needed. So glad I trusted my gut and got a second opinion - it was cancer, a mass you could see, an aggressive, common cancer in Golden's his age and presenting in the most common area. Dr Wilson didn't examine my dog as he should have and completely missed a deadly, painful diagnosis. My dogs limb was amputated 2 weeks ago. Worst vet in the valley and that's a steep competition. Completely dismissed me and my concerns and could've caused my dog a very painful death. Shame on him! read more

I'm VERY disappointed in how they ended our relationship. If we would have listened to them, we would have gotten our dog quarantined for 120 days in Hawaii. My wife and I have been using this vet since our puppy was 5 weeks old and we've been very loyal. We've even recommended them to a few people. I've been happy with them and their prices. We moved to Hawaii which has a 7-page check list of things that have to happen or the dog get quarantine for 120 days. This vet did her rabies shots and the antigen test. No problems thus far. Due to Hawaii's restrictions, you have a 4-day window to get a health certificate, apply a flea and tick medication, book a plane ticket and mail all the stuff in. In addition, you have to mail in 2 signed rabies certificates with 7 very specific fields (manufacture, expiration date, interval, admitted date, etcetera). The signature cannot be photocopied. We contacted our vet asking for an appointment and they said they were booked out for a week. This was unfortunate for us, but understandable. We requested her documentation along with the signed rabies certificate. We found another vet to do the physical and health certificate in the timespan we needed. Animals R Us says not a problem, but doesn't send us the files. I send a follow up email explaining what we need, and no response. I sent another email, no response. I call them again and am told we don't need that information. We get another vet involved who knows what they are doing. Animals R Us sends them the records. The records are incomplete. My wife calls and asks for the information to be filled out. She is told no and we don't need it. I call the department of quarantine who says I am correct and if we bring them those incomplete documents the dog will be quarantined for 120 days. My 7.5-month pregnant wife calls again and tells them we called the department and Animals R Us tells her the department is wrong. The freaking department is wrong about their own protocol. She tells them she is driving in because we are out of time at this point. She's sitting in the lobby waiting for her turn as they are taking care of another customer. Then the receptionist starts talking smack about my WIFE! She raised her hand and stated, "Yeah, I'm that person we are talking about." She still refuses to fill out the paperwork but my wife insists and they FINALLY gave in. 30 seconds later, we have what we needed. Adding insult to injury, they kept calling out dog a he (she is a she) and said we only started taking her there 2 years ago and can't get any more records. The dog is 2 years old. As loyal customers, you think they would know the dog is 2 years old and is a female. In the end, this costed us an extra $500 in fees/penalties. All for 30 seconds of work... I highly recommend Ada Veterinary Hospital. They saved us. read more

Well this place was terrible I brought my dog in the only thing they did was check the temperature and they didnt do xrays or blood work or anything my dog lost so much weight and was balding so fast. The vet told me there was nothing he could do and that he could charge me $50 to put him down. I didn't have it in me especially for him just looking at him and doing nothing else to see what was in fact wrong with him. Thank god I didn't do it. I researched on google and thankfully enough he is back to normal. I ended up paying this useless vet $38 to check his temperature and tell me putting him down was the only way. Is that a thing now? Seems like thats a vets favorite solution to every sick pet is to put them down how sad. I would have rather you tell me you just didn't want to help me instead. I was a walk in that day too no appointment so im guessing they saw me and assumed it was going to be an in and out appointment. DO BETTER! I know these arent your pets so you must not care but me as a loving owner and since im willing to pay you atleast do your job correctly. Beware...there's something really not right with this place. I called numerous times numerous days, someone finally answered the phone & I made an appointment as a new client for my 2 small dogs. I went for their appointment, the Vet we saw seemed very knowledgeable, polite & he had a really good "bedside manner". I really liked him. He seemed caring, patient, answered my questions & we even had a few laughs. I'm sure I had a lot of questions because I wanted to learn about them & how things worked. My last question, I ask him about how they're phone system worked & mentioned about how I'd called numerous times to make this appointment but no one had answered the phone. I told him that I had decided to try calling one last time & that I was glad I did, because someone answered the phone, I made the appointment & now I was there. I could immediately tell he was NOT happy to hear I had called so many times before ever reaching someone. He stated that there was 4-5 people answering their phones & that should never happen. I tried to assure him that it wasn't that big of a deal. I could tell he was really upset. He wrote a note & told me that he would find out why the phones weren't being answered & stated that the owners couldn't make money if people couldn't get them on the phone to make an appointment. It really made me feel bad. I felt like I had ruined his day. As I was leaving, I went to the desk to pay my bill & I asked them about their procedures and how things work there so I would know what their "rules" were too. One of which was, they told me that if I ever had an emergency with my dogs, just to come straight there if I couldn't reach them by phone. I told them that I LOVED that because that's NOT how one of our previous Vet's office operated & I said that made me very happy to hear. The girls at the desk complained about how busy their phones were & I told them how our previous vet's office operated & they said that they'd tried that system & it didn't work for them. I asked if they'd tried another way, it was a way we did phones at a place I'd previously worked, & they said yes they had, & that didn't work for them either. I laughed & jokingly said that they just needed to hire more help for them on phones. I left feeling good about finding our new Vet! My dogs remained healthy, no problems & we hadn't needed an appointment. We got a nice Christmas card from them at Christmas. Then one of my dogs had a bad fall and got hurt really badly & was in a lot of pain. It was early in the morning & I knew they weren't open yet so I dressed, got us in the car & headed for the Vet's office. When I got there, they were just opening. I was upset & crying because my dog was in so much pain. The lady asked who I was, looked on the computer & told me to get out & not come back. I was so shocked! I was speechless! She informed me that I had caused "too many problems" when I was there previously & that they would not see my dog. I left with my baby in my arms & drove to Asheville to our previous Vet's office who saw him immediately & took him straight into surgery. He was hurt so badly & in so much pain that our previous Vet had him in surgery within 40 minutes of me arriving with him in Asheville. Animals R Us didn't care how badly he was hurt nor how much pain he was in. When all was said & done, it took 4 surgery's over several months to fix his hip and knee. Shortly after, I heard that they have a female vet now at Animals R Us & that the Vet I saw the day I was there, left there a while back. Maybe he found out something isn't right with this place??? I don't know but if you're considering this Vet's office & you want to be a customer, DON'T ASK QUESTIONS! Apparently if you ask questions about their procedures, you'll be told not to come back. There's something really wrong with a place that doesn't want you to ask questions about them or what their procedures are. If you have nothing to hide, you don't mind answering questions about how your office operates. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE BECAUSE SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG HERE!!!! read more

I would give this a 0, however it is not an option. I took my dog to Animals r us, NC he had been projectile vomiting for 24hrs. They did no blood work, no IV, lied and said he did an xray, and sent my dog home and said bring him back tomorrow if he doesn't improve. When we got home my dog vomited so hard he collapsed. I called the office, I ask what I can give him for nausea, nothing, if I need to go West Vet, they said "maybe if he doesnt drink water", they tell me they think my dog has an obstructed bowel and to bring him back in the morning and he would do a endoscopy, not to feed him bc of it. We took my barely walking dog after days and days of vomiting back at ten am. They put my dog outside in the heat in a kennal.....he is already beyond dehydrated, and say there is a more urgent surgery, and our dogs next. I called every hour. I got told they were "looking for parts of their endoscope" that they drove somewhere to see if the "parts " were somewhere??? And then at 3 my husband just showed up, and my dog was alone, not being observed, outside in a kennel!!!!!! Lethargic and not moving. Animals r us does not have a endoscope at all we learned. THEY SCHEDULED MY VERY VERY SICK DOG FOR A PROCEDURE THEY DONT EVEN DO OR OWN THE EQUIPMENT FOR, AND THREW HIM VERY DEHYDRATED OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT IN A KENNAL!!!! MY DOG HAD TO BE TAKEN TO WEST VET. He is there overnight on fluids, and trying to get his vitals up. Animals r us never gave my dog an IV, nor blood work, nor medicine to help him, they cant produce the xrays they did on him, and there are no notes in his chart at all for him being in their care for emergency obstruction surgery at all, no vitals, nothing! My dog almost died at their lack of care, he still might die. They lied about doing an endoscope, and leaving a severely dehydrated 230lb dog in the heat outside, and not giving him fluids even! My dogs vet bill to fix that is 3k just for tonight. Thats not even to do surgery on the obstruction, just to fix the condition he was in after being in Animals r us care for 24 hrs. I called the office manager to tell her and she said the Vet had left but he would call me from his personal phone to talk about that, he never called. If you want your pet to live, and not have to pay thousands for a neglectful lying fraud of a vets ego and mistake and obvious lack of compassion period toward a very sick, obstructed dog, DO NOT GO HERE EVER! Our dog is not out of the woods. This was so bad I plan to make this a big big deal. read more

Even though I couldn't go in to the building due to COVID, the vet came out to thoroughly explain what was wrong with my cat in a way I could fully understand. I could tell he sincerely cared about my cat and gave me treatment options that were in the best interest to my cat and my wallet. Not only was the vet great, the vet tech was very nice too! I've been coming here for years even before covid, and they have definitely adjusted their practices well with the same great service they had pre covid. We brought 3 dogs in for teeth cleaning with appointment at 9:20 a.m. They had our puppies sitting in kennels all day and started at 2:45, even though they said they would be first. Dr Murphy was condescending when I stressed that our dogs had not eaten or had water for almost a day (nothing after 8 p.m. he said "they're fine, they're happy.". If he had paid attention he would have known they were shaking when they came in. Dr Murphy is not who did the pre-appointment and said they would do the cleaning. I feel like he just took this as an opportunity to "pad his paycheck." We will only go to Settlers Vet in the Boise area. We made the mistake of trusting this business because they had opening. First off, they took a phone call about severely injured pet and they were extremely rude to the poor person of the phone because they didn't want to deal with it. Second, the place is filthy! Everywhere complete filth. (My friend dropped my dog off because I was working and coming right after) then we go into this closet of a room that is beyond disgusting and the women doesn't even say hi to my dog or attempt to pet him literally walks right up and tries to stick a thermometer up his butt and he made a discomfort noise a whimpering growl and moved then the dr guy was like oh he's not gonna let us do that so then he made me in my work dress and heels bed down to try and find discomfort in my dog tells me to walk my dog around the island 2 times which is 6 awkward steps and says he's fine to give him an anti inflammatory (he had a real bad limp for 2 week) I times it the entire time start to finish including the extremely unprofessional nurse was 6 min they tried billing me $75 then front desk girl I will say she was very nice and understanding felt bad so made it $40 plus the anti inflammatory while I was checking out she recommended the generic version telling me they were same ingredients and half the price the dr comes out and they literally argued in front of me. Mainly him not her. He just contradicted her and even if she was wrong there are SO MANY better ways to handle this! Anyway, if you choose this place I hope your experience is better that mine. This is the worst vet I have ever been too. I called and set up an appointment to have my pup (11 months old) to have his tooth extracted and to be neutered. I made it clear many times throughout scheduling the appointment, confirming the appointment, and even this morning when dropping him off that his tooth was my main concern. I was told that while my puppy was under anesthesia the tooth would be looked at and if in fact it needed extracted they would call and discuss the seriousness of tooth and get the go ahead. I did sign a release form when I dropped him off and approved their $9/minute extraction charge, so when I didn't receive a call I figured they were busy and went ahead with the extraction. Upon picking him up, I was informed that the doctor did not review his charts prior to his neuter. He then blamed his staff for the miscommunication. He then raised his voice and argued on the next steps falling on " I was busy and it wasn't done. We can do the extraction on 6-9 months however at that point it could be worse and have an abscess on the root, the tooth is a bigger concern than him being neutered ." NO SHIT. He also took it upon himself to become ignorant when giving the excuse of why he could find the time to call us explaining the outcome of the appointment, " Oh I'm sorry I was busy working, my bad, let me stop doing that just for you.Then after explaining the entire reason we chose his office is that we could avoid our puppy being anesthetized twice (once for neuter and once for the extraction) he still continued to argue it was his front staff miscommunication. HOW IS IT MY PROBLEM THAY YOUR EMPLOYEES ARE NOT TRAINED PROPERLY. He then only offered to waive a portion of the anesthesia fee upon bringing my puppy back to him for the extraction. I told him at this point I DO NOT TRUST HIM OR HIS INCOMPETENT STAFF why in the world would I bring my puppy back so he could fuck up again. I wanted to know what was being done today... After 45 of back and forth and dealing with so much unprofessionalism- I could not handle his disrespect. He said he would charge the same price as the cheapest place in Boise. I told him the spay and neuter project would have been $80. He finally agreed after being extremely rude and blaming us, the customers for his mistake. I left the office and let my boyfriend finish the checkout of our puppy before I lost it on this man. The bill came to almost $124.00. In a nutshell this practice is a joke and the doctor blamed his front staff and refused to take responsibility for his actions but instead blame us for not following their policies; because of course it's the front staff who should had advised him of the procedure that needed to be done. Because of course as a vet, you don't check the pups medical chart for allergies etc. Do not trust this place with your animal. You will only be disappointed and have to explain yourself to a man, who acts like a child. He had no empathy for the situation. Not even an apology for putting myself and my poor puppy through this. The vets name is Tim Murphy. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB, who knows how many times this has happened to other animals! read more

I called in and got a quote over the phone from an employee there. Based on that quote I made an appointment and got my dog fixed. My husband picked up the dog for me and gave me the receipt when he returned. I immediately called because the quote was $120.00 and was charged $170.00. When I dropped the dog off that morning I was assured that she would receive pain medicine during the surgery and some would come home for us with her as part of the cost of the surgery. No pain medicine came home with my dog at all, she laid here crying in pain. I immediately called and the attitude was use the pain medicine that I paid for that we received for our other dogs (Large 100 + pound dogs) when the dog fixed was 17 pounds. I left a message for the office manager to call me, no call back. I called in again and asked for the manager to call, guess what no call back. I then called in again and left yet another message, still waiting to hear on that one. I asked for someone else and no one else is available. I would not recommend them because they are not true to there word and to send a dog home in the pain my dog was was not acceptable and lack of follow through on there end was absolutely unprofessional and not trust worthy. If you truly love your animal you will not bring it to this facility, the lack of caring I have encountered on this visit shows where the ethics truly lie. read more
