As a fan of American history I was intere6in seeing the architecture and feel of a historical site. The two informational post that are stationed on site gave us some important information about the town of Lavon and the uses of the building. Having roots in small town USA I noticed some fascinating features about the building. The roofline and awning are typical of that era and reflected the progressive nature of the times.

From the 12 minute video, to the period architecture and furnishings to the very sweet lady, Chris, who gave us a guided tour .....it was a wonderful experience! As you can tell much has changed in the 125 years since his birth. What was once a busy neighborhood is now a quiet quaint getaway. It is off the beaten path as another reviewer posted, but it is in no way a challenge to find.....if you can read a map and/or have a navigator, all you have to do is follow those and the numerous signs directing you there and it's really simple to find. I highly recommend to history buffs and anyone else who "Liked Ike"!

A group of 4 adults and five kids ranging from 4 to 13, we all enjoyed this place more than we thought we would. When you look at at the website that does not do it justice, you go hmm interesting. You will leave thinking woah I coul spend more time here. You get your entry tickets in the main building and they give you a key and a map. You go out to a big fenced area and the building are set in a giant rectangular pattern and you can walk to them one by one. 5 cabins have lock that the key operates and you can go inside. The others have a glass door and a light switch outside which you can turn on and peer inside. They all have a little info plaque outside as well so you can learn about the history. This probably doesn't sound as interesting as it actually is to be there. The cabins you can go into really take your tour to another level. The whole setting is fantastic. Definitely make time to go here if you are in the area. It's about 45 minutes to go through the whole thing and entry is cheap..you can spend more time if you want as well. There is no limit.
