If you like history or old houses/ architecture, this may be worth a stop. I'm not particularly…read moredrawn to that, but knew a friend working here recently, so thought I'd stop by to check it out and say hey. It was cool to see the house, and to see it still very preserved as to what it would have been in the time he was living there. I especially liked the second floor of the house because it was cool to see the bedrooms. It made me want an outdoor sleeping porch to cool down on summer nights... but nonetheless I'm glad to live in a time where there's air conditioning!! They also have a few old fashioned cars to see. So, if that's something you like too, you may enjoy a quick visit. I'm also not much of a car person, so I can't remember what's there. Since it's also a farm, they have some information about farming back in the day too, which was good to see. I think my favorite part were the animals. They have some chickens and roosters, but the best was the donkey named Stinky! Haha!! Luckily, having a friend that worked there, we were able to get him to come over and say hello and even feed him some carrots. So cute... and thankfully, not too stinky ;)

It truly feels one of a kind and makes for a special stay. Ask about the story of the home when you're there - this couple bought it after many years of disrepair and restored it back to what it used to look like from old photos and town records. They even were able to obtain many original pieces and photographs from the previous owning family in an estate sale. I highly, highly recommend! Great for just an overnight stay as I did with my boyfriend, but the place seems ideal for a wedding or getaway with friends. Oh and I forgot to mention, Karen made us homemade ice cream and cookies and packed us a bag of cookies to go for the road :)

They have lovingly restored Carleton House and amassed a collection of antique musical instruments, photographs, and other artifacts displayed throughout the home. The very informative tour included music played by Karen and Steve. I can't say enough about the breakfasts; Karen is an outstanding cook, and she was very considerate about our dietary restrictions. We ate in the music room in front of a cozy fire on a different set of beautiful china each day. The attention to detail everywhere was amazing: rose petals and chocolates in the room, wide selection of shampoos/conditioners/etc., fresh baked cookies on arrival, I could go on and on. We will definitely be back!
