We stopped by Barrie to grab an espresso on our way to bike a section of the Trans Canada Bike Trail further to the north. We saw the reviews in Yelp and thought we would give Bohemia a try. So glad we did. We got far more than coffee. Their bake goods presented a true problem because they all looked so deliciously home-made. We had a cheddar and jalapeño scone and a fruit bar. The coffee and the bakery items exceeded expectation. In addition, the store itself is so inviting and vintage. Quite beautiful. And the staff is very friendly. It's in an interesting old building, which they have decorated perfectly. Their coffees are top notch. Service is always cheerful. Best of all, are their pastries, cookies and bars. Yum! Bohemia is an absolute gem in downtown Barrie. You can't go wrong with any of their baking or homemade soups. It's also the most warm and friendly space with absolutely lovely staff. Came here for Sunday brunch around 1pm and sadly they were out of half the menu. While that wasn't a huge issue since neither of us had planned on ordering what was unavailable. That said, my company and I opted for the breakfast Sammi - I had mine without bacon and on a gluten free bun. It was delicious! Had so much flavour. My company had the straight up sammi with bacon and also said it was delicious. They also had a pre app of a croissant and said it was one of the best he's had - light, flaky and buttery. I had a peppermint tea which came in traditional tea pot with a cute tea cup and saucer. My company had a cappuccino. The only issue was that it look longer to get our drinks than food. Tip - if you're looking for granola bowls or French toast go early since those were the items that were sold out by the afternoon. Overall, nice spot. Would go back. read more

The server here on a Saturday afternoon dealt with a full lunch rush running up and down the stairs by himself. Was very impressed. The ham Harvarti panini was good and I'm not a fan of ham. Bohemia is a warm, cozy, cafe focused on local. From the warm atmosphere, intimate decor, and beautiful architecture I felt welcomed from the moment I entered. My partner and I had two americanos made by the owner Jill, their veggie burger and baked sweet potato "fries" and a slice of cherry pie with whisky whipped cream. Everything was handmade in house and was delicious. I could tell that everything was done with care. The ingredients tasted fresh and there was a lot of flavour. I'm originally from Barrie, but moved away a few years ago where I work at a cafe my family started, so I make it a point to visit Bohemia every time we return to Barrie. I did not have a good experience here; after spending nearly $8 on a coffee and muffin and beginning to work on my computer, I was approached by an employee who warned me, quite abruptly, that this was not "a work space" and that working on a computer is discouraged in the cafe. Working in a coffee shop? I think most would agree that this should be expected. Anyways, won't be going back here and have told my "work" friends to avoid as well. read more

The Big Beautiful Salad is all that and delicious. Apparently one of the best salads in the GTA. Coffee was good, the service was top notch (very friendly) and the view of the lake out the back loft area isn't too bad either. The cafe has a cozy atmosphere and nice aesthetics. Not a lot of tables for groups bigger than two, which can be a bit difficult. Also the take out coffee board isn't easily accessible. They cater more to sit down orders. That being said, I do love this place a ton and they make amazing lattes (and they have some great gluten free snacks!) read more

The service here is great, always friendly, I also love their tea and desserts, as well as their food, however, three times now I have came in and they have menu on a chalkboard highlighting their specials for that day, and when I request an item they tell me they have ran out, so I request the next item and they tell me they have ran out as well. I know these kinds of things happen but I mean this is the third time now, it's not rocket science to wipe off a chalkboard once you run out of an item, just a suggestion! read more

From appearances, Bohemia appeared as a lovely place. My friend and I walked in with coffees from a different shop in hopes of finding a sweet treat to go with them. The barista/cashier was very friendly and even asked where we got our coffees - because she recognised the logo - and helped us pick out a perfect muffin to share. We made our purchase and settled in our seats, only to be approached by a different employee (perhaps the proprietor of the establishment?) and notified that we were not allowed to have coffees from a different shop in Bohemia. She was not polite, not apologetic, not accommodating and insisted on our leaving, despite us being then paying customers. I don't understand why the barista did not notify us of that rule and why the other employee allowed us to make a purchase AND sit down, before approaching us. It was incredibly disrespectful and if we were told of the rule at the get go, we would have no problem complying. Needless to say, we left the muffin behind and abandoned the shop quite dissatisfied. Bohemia needs to train their employees to be a little more vigilant and much more polite. Will not be returning. Barrie has other shops that actually provide wonderful service without any hints of spite or rudeness. read more
