Recently had a trip here due to wanting braids for my birthday but I should have just kept searching for a different braider. Bofia was super unprofessional she left the salon twice while I was on my visit and eating while working on my hair. I've had multiple braids fall out and the braids were just of poor quality. Nearly every braid has my natural hair sticking out of it. Bofia also cut my natural hair to make some of the braids look more polished without even asking me. I also was upcharged an additional $40 dollars for the length of the hair I bought even though it was a standard length and I checked ahead of time. Waaaay too expensive for the quality of the braids and the service I received. Save your coins and find a different braider. read more

This was my main braiding salon even though highly overpriced. But I last went March 1st and got medium box braids they had several people braid my hair per usual. But this time they had a new braided. Long story short one braid came completely out with my hair and all the rest came out after detangling my hair washing and conditioning. I did nothing differently from any other time no new products and the braids weren't old. I reached out to them about pulling my hair from my scalp and they sent a sticker on messenger and no response via text. I now have several bald spots throughout my head and my edges are completely torn out thanks to bofia hair braiding. So much time growing my hair for them to do this and show absolutely no remorse. read more

My hair...a mess...the human hair they used on my hair was not human...the way they attached my hair...a hot hot mess...most of my braids just slid right off my hair and I had length in my hair so do not use that excuse...i walked out of there paying 260 for hair and a so call tree braids...then i paid for mousse that did not work as well as sheen total 300...the worst and i mean the worst braids I've ever had...texted her my issue...never texted back...very sad that we work hard yet we get poor results...word to wise...check every 30 mins when a new braider is placing hair in your head because if they do not know what they are doing go somewhere else...I'm stuck for the next few weeks with glue in my hair braids falling out and stringing hair all tangled up...they should be ashamed of themselves for such low quality braids....run run run read more

My daughter got crochet twists at this salon and aside from being overpriced, the quality is horrible. They made sure to concentrate the twists around the perimeter of her head and completely neglected the middle. She cannot wear her hair up in a pony tail. Additionally, after I was quoted a price by who I'm assuming is the owner, the stylists argued me down about paying more. I would never come back here. I had to purchase my own hair because they didn't have enough in stock. They are not open on Sunday as advertised, and they have rude children arguing and running around. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would! I asked for twist in an A-line bob (short in the back, longer in the front). First, the hair they used looks like yarn. Secondly, my hair is so many different lengths all over & one side is shorter than the other. It looks nothing like I asked, then on top of that I was quoted $200 then told it was $220. My son wanted dreads and my sister-in-law said that Suzy was the best. We were in town for a basketball tournament so our schedule was kind of packed and she fit us in. She did an amazing job! My son loves his hair and Suzy is so nice. We will definitely be coming back next time we're in town. We might even drive 9 hours just to have her do his hair again. read more

Why can't I give negative stars where negative is due?! Ladies, do NOT go here! Do not throw your hard earned money away! Run far from this place if you plan to get a weave. They probably braid very well but as for weaves, don't let them touch your head or tell you they can do your weave and that it will look nice because the fact is they truly can't weave worth a damn! They have the nerve to call what they do a "technique" and try to make you pay for something you'll hate. I asked her why I should pay for something I hate, you know it doesn't look good and she said "I can't do it for free". Why not if it looks like crap? She didn't do it like she planned to get paid so why pretend its worth $220 or even $1? The stylist said "it just looks like that now but it will look nice after it settles"...me: blank stare. I went into this place because the Google reviews were good. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Suzie told me it would be 20 less if I brought my own hair only for me to spend $30 on hair and for her to tell me she couldn't use it. She also quoted me a price then after told me it was $100 more. While being there the two other ladies next to me were complaining about their hair Not being done correctly. The place was really un clean and the atmosphere felt weird they were loudly speaking French and eating and touching the hair at the same time. I would be more than okay if they wanted to take a break and eat in the back or something but not at the same time. Please don't go here. Made an appointment 2 weeks in advance for 10AM the Saturday before Easter for my wife. When we entered the salon and mentioned the 10AM appointment we were told we would have to reschedule for another day because she had a bunch of people before us. I mentioned that we took time off from work and paid for a child sitter for our kids. The employee just smiled and said we had to reschedule. I stopped my wife and told her it would be a cold day in hell before we make another appointment for them to not honor. We are a mixed race couple and the girl shook her head and frowned as we walked into the shop so I wonder if it's just that she just didn't like what she saw. I do not recommend this place. I love Bofia Braiding salon! It has such a beautiful sisterhood atmosphere that really blew me away. I have so much to say about it, but I rather have you go and witness it for yourself. They are fluent in French and in English- that is a plus! I found myself learning as they spoke to one another in French; witch by the way, they were open enough to allow me to interrupt just to figure out how to pronounce certain French words and translate them in to English. I can testify and say that I have officially found my happy place. They are honest, hard working women that deserve our support! Plus, how can I forget!? The hair can be added on to your total cost- there are no worries of 'where do I go to buy hair?' and 'Am I getting the right kind of hair after all?". Found this place on YouTube thought I try them out. I wasn't impressed. Style requested: Tree Braiding What I liked about my experience: 1. Two people worked on my head. 2. The person that did the front of my head did the braids according to what I asked for in size. 3. The time spent on my hair. What I DID NOT like about my experience: 1. The back and mid-top of my head was a total mess. 2. Told that the braids in the back might come out because my hair was too short back there. My hair was shorter on the sides than in the back, yet she had no problems with putting braids on the sides. 3. They made no attempt to braid the nape (lower back) of my hair, even after telling me that the braids in the back might come out. Didn't realize how much was not done until I got home and tried to put my hair up. 4. Over charged for the quality of work done. $240 for pinky-sized tree braids. 5. Several of my braids came out literally a few hours after leaving the shop. If done properly none of them shouldn't have come out. 6. The two braider quality of work wasn't consistent. 7. After a week I've lost well over 10 braids, and I'm still loosing everytime I style my hair. 8. The knotting to lock the hair was poorly done (very loose). 9. Didn't use any type of gel during the process to help secure a longer lasting style and a more polished look. My recommendations: 1. Get more training. 2. Learn more about the trade and art of braiding. 3. Listen to your client. 4. Care and realize when people come to you to spend so much money and time on their hair they want great results. They want to feel like the time and money invested was well spent. 5. Put yourself in your client shoes. Wouldn't you want the best? 6. TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR WORK!!!! I hope Bofia Branding reads there reviews and use what is being said to better their business, increase return business and grow their revenue. Nice sisters from Cameroon. They were waiting for me at their shop when I arrived and they were very welcoming. They speak English well and are not heavy handed. I could tell by returning customers that others are satisfied with their service. Once again, this is an actual shop, not someone's backyard and these ladies braid with ease until the job is done. LEMME TELL YALL! I got my hair done last week here and 7 braids have already fallen out in the back. For starters when I called two weeks in advance to schedule an appointment I asked if I could bring my own hair in which case she said yes and it would be $20 cheaper so I get to my appointment with my hair and she tells me that she couldn't use it because it was "too silky" which makes no type of sense cause if you can braid then you can braid with any type of hair but any who because it was last minute I paid the extra $20 I was gypped out of. This is a tactic they've used all too well on other women that have gone here and sad part about it is ladies I've met off the street who've gone here have similar stories. I came here in January 2015 for senegalese twists, a couple of days prior to vacation. While I had to wait a while for Suzy to arrive, she immediately got to work on my hair. I've gotten twists in the past on multiple occasions but this was, by far, the best experience getting twists that I've ever had. Two ladies worked on my hair at once (and at one point, 3 ladies) and they completed my entire head in 4 hours (to give you perspective, it's taken as long as 10 hours for one person to complete senegalese twists for me before). The only reason I gave 4 stars is because a couple of the braids started unravelling within a couple hours. But, no biggie. I just retwisted and dipped them and hid them under other braids. It was also a bit pricey, but worth it. I'll definitely visit Bofia Braiding again. read more

I came in with a simple picture of 8 feed in braids up into a bun. 4 in front 4 in the back. Well I had one of the tall twins doing my hair and she decided that I should have 5 in front and three in back. I told her I CANNOT have a ONE big dookie braid down the middle of my head and she told me that my head was shaped different. I have never been told that before. Anyway she gave me three big beautiful feed in braids on one side and two one the other. She had small braids in between some of the large braids but not all of them. She threw my hair up in a bun that was falling down before I could drive down the street. I drove a mile away and turned around to go back. The lady that did my hair had left. So the other twin and another lady acted like they couldn't tell what was wrong with my hair. Trust me, it looks awful. Finally she decided to take down a braid and put two there like it should have been at first. BUT WAIT, instead of feed in braid she gives me Ghana braids AND a totally different colored hair. My hair looks a little better but it is still a hot mess. Definitely a $20 or $30 doo at best. I only spend this kind of money to get my hair done once or twice a year. All of the other times I get a ghetto fab due and I'm happy. This was tragic. I have never cried over a hair Doo and I cried for an hour over this one. Clients BEWARE. I have been to Sister Sister, Ashtu and Hadja in Tempe, and I've always been satisfied. They are all crazy expensive, but of course I got my monies worth with these ladies. i got senegalese twist for my wedding and within two weeks about 10 braids literally fell out from the root of my hair!!!! i am in the process of sueing them as of today because of their unprofessionalism and insistence of blaming the hair lost on me possibly putting the hair in a ponytail. even if i did put my hair in a pony tail, there should be no reason why my hair is falling out from the root. like where do you go to get your hair done and they say if you put your hair in a pony tail it could fall out???? this is ridiculous and not a good way to do business especially when i spent $300 including tip to these devils who dont promote hair growth but hair lost. yes the hair looks good, but the quality sucks and i would rather wear an afro than to have beautiful braids falling down like rain drops.
