We did the WildWood Trail to the Witches Castle! It's a nice hike. Wear appropriate shoes and clothes! 2.3-5 miles round trip. It's a big enough path for multiple people but some areas narrow. The climb down is good but man back up lol you will feel the burn. They have restrooms onsite indoor and then they have a bathroom in the mansion basement. Toilets flush loud don't be alarmed. At the bottom of the trail when you cross the street, there was a porta potty. Map as well. Parking is expensive: weekend Saturday it was roughly $24 for all day! There are benches and picnic tables towards the view! Staff are very nice! Gift shop as well with snacks, plants, jewelry, postcards, and all sorts of items.

For an admission price, you walk up toward the cafe for the Garden. We drank some tea nearing the wonderful view of the uphill battle we encountered. You can arrive at the Japanese Garden by taking the hiking trails or using their free shuttle that loops around Washington Park. The Japanese Garden is across from the Rose International Garden, too, which you can walk around to see during the warm seasons. They have a cute little gift shop, too. This is one of the bigger Japanese gardens we've been to, and it definitely is tranquil. My favorite part was the large zen garden you can see. Definitely a great experience when in Oregon!

The merch selection was vast and interesting. I just wish they had a photo booth because it would tie into the place perfectly. Overall, highly recommend as it is a fun spot to hangout for under an hour.

However, it has a few instagrammable exhibits for fun photos, my favorite was the one they dedicated to the Talking Heads lead man. The staff is friendly and welcoming and very chill. The gift shop is a parade of off-side oddities that's very different than anything most anything I've seen, but so different I couldn't find anything for me.

The "stage" is the floor level, and the few levels of seating are very nicely graduated, so if you don't get a front-row seat, you'll not have any problem seeing over the person in front of you. The sound system is adequate, although only really audible from the right side as you're facing the stage. There is lots of seating in the lobby, so you can sit while you're waiting for the theater proper to open up. Parking is real pain in the neck, though, and you're probably best off parking at the paid lot on 20th and Pettygrove and walking to the venue. Don't expect a full bar or concession stand, but the production may have their own concessions for sale. Definitely worth a visit!

The original family who brought beautiful items from Japan have now largely passed the business to a younger person. I was strolling the neighborhood when a signboard announced an open day. Usually they are by appointment or voice call for entry. If you need their stuff, which you do, make an appointment or voice call for entry. They are on the 3rd floor of a clean warehouse with an elevator. They collect in Japan and ship their own containers. They have household ceramics, some tansu, some beautiful scroll landscape paintings, tools, tables, Japanese clothing, "go boards", sculptures, iron teapots, and more. Northern Japan is akin to Northwest USA and adjacent BC in climate and native culture. The native people in Japan are the Ainu and I visited their cultural center in Japan. Shogun's had on my visit collection of wood sculptures maybe 18-24" by 12" by 12" of bears catching salmon. It's in my pictures. Yes, Northern Japan has salmon! It is an Ainu native food. I have been known to haunt Japanese antique sales in Seattle. Some of the Shogun's items are very, very reasonably priced. I would recommend anyone interested in Japanese antiques, as seen by the photos, to visit by appointment and follow their announcements and other sales channels. The Northwest has a long relationship with Japan, Portland has a long and continuing relationship with Japan. If you want a little antique Japan in your living space or as a gift, Shogun's is a must-visit!
