Steve Malin Review update: I did not mention in my initial…read morereview that I rarely write reviews unless the service or services are exceptional which I feel was well conveyed in my comments about Butte Roofing. As a follow up I wanted to once again thank Butte Roofing Co. for its great service. Shortly after the storm I was visited by Butte Roofing Co. for an in depth review of my roof, supplied with a written quote and once the company was able to schedule a time I was visited by Butte Roofing Co. for the necessary repairs. Technicians were great, professional and courteous. Both Dylan and Bailey went right to work and made all the necessary repairs. Both Dylan and Bailey were great, they were careful with my gutter system and once the job was complete the area was completely clean, no mess or debris left which normally I'm stuck cleaning up after a subcontractor. I will say again if you need any work on your roof don't move forward until you have spoken with this company. I'm certainly glad I did and know you will as well. Thank you Butte Roofing Co.. They came out and did a great job; so when a tree fell onto our house during a storm in October, Baird was the first call I made. Our neighbor covered the hole in the roof the best he could with a tarp he had, but rain was still leaking into the house. I called Priscilla at Baird for help and Eric (one of their crew) came out in the rain and covered the roof with a larger tarp, saving us from further damage inside the house. When the rains stopped, Wayne was terrific in getting us scheduled right away for the repair work and roof replacement even though half of his crew was out sick. Our roof sustained substantial structural damage from the tree and the Baird guys were terrific in rebuilding and reroofing. It took a couple of days, but at the end of each day they were meticulous in cleaning up any debris around the house. Thank you Priscilla, Wayne, Eric and the rest of the crew for a job well done! Baird works with a company that comes in with a heavy-duty forklift to haul materials to the workers. Julio had personally done an inspection of the roof and knew what needed to be done. The entire valley had to be opened up. There was evidence of two previous repair attempts that were both done wrong. Julio's crew used the newest and best materials to repair the valley. Additional tile was required, that is no longer manufactured. Charlie knew a supplier in Durham, that had some of the tile and he went down and picked up the extra tile, which matched perfectly. The completed job was perfect and was tested that night and the next day with rain. No leaks! Julio is kind, caring and does the best work. And very affordable. Long story short upon discovering a serious leak in my roof during the winter of 2015 we contacted them as they had just put a new roof on our house 3 years prior. They didn't return calls. When we finally did reach them they promised to send somebody out who never showed more than once. After complaining and getting somebody to finally show up they claimed to have fixed the problem. When it rained again a couple of weeks later the leak persisted with fervor. When we called to complain we were told by Bobby Boe that it was not his problem because he had taken the business over from his father Robert Boe and that the warranty provided was something that Robert was responsible for. Ironically Robert was retired and Bobby had taken over the business leaving us no alternative but to deal with Bobby. In the end after my husband happened to run into Bobby in a parking lot and cornered him, we got them to come back out and fix the problem. In the meantime the leak has caused dry rot down an entire interior wall which was made of wood. We told them they were responsible for the damage and they refused to fix it. We called and we called and we called and got no reply or response. Eventually, into 2016 our efforts dwindled as there were other things that came up in our life diverting our attention. Later that year, in the fall, we decided to put our house on the market and the drywall issue cropped up during our pest inspection. We resumed our efforts and it took threatening to turn them into the contractor state board to get them to pay attention to us. It also started raining again and the leak was back. To be honest I don't remember all of the details because there was so much involved, but it was a total nightmare dealing with these people. They actually made the leak worse and fought me on repairing the damage that they caused to my home. I ended up filing with the state contractors board and the BBB , by the way they have an F rating at BBB and I have since heard other horror stories from other homeowners. The contractor board contact them and basically told them fix it. So I ended up dealing with them yet again and this time when they came out to replace the damaged wood siding in my house they created a hole in an adjacent wall. They had the nerve to tell me that the work was completed and yet the new wood was bare and unfinished and there was a gaping hole in my home. And to add insult to injury when it rained again the entire room flooded from the ceiling. When I called them out on this I asked them if this was their home what they consider this job complete and well done. Bobby's response to me included multiple F-word's. He also ask me to reconsider my filing with the contractor board because "[he] had kids and a wife who didn't work"!! And just when you would think it couldn't get any worse, it did. I hired a non related third-party GC to come out and give me his honest opinion about what work needed to be done to right these wrongs. His findings were shocking. He discovered that there were many many things wrong with the roof job as a whole. He discovered that their solution to fixing my leak was to shove a bunch of goop in the shingles and to screw a 2x4 to my roof and an effort apparently to divert water. The list of things that were wrong just goes on and on. In the end we ended up hiring a different roofing company to fix the job properly. I should have just called them in the first place. When I finally made the decision to go with another company because these guys could not and would not right their wrongs , I was so disgusted that I said to Bobby I will see you in court, which I still plan to pursue. His ridiculous answer was "send me your attorneys info I'll give it to mine". What kind of reputable company treats people this way and does this kind of work? The threat of the BBB, the contractor board and an attorney didn't even phase these people. If you know what's good for you you wouldn't touch this company with a 20' pole..
