I have tried many different exercises and programs at a variety of levels and F45 keeps me challenging my body to become stronger, faster and lastly happier. The trainers are mindful of your progress and always set you up for success - being form, more weights and/or more reps. Everyone cares (team and trainers) about you doing well and because of this it does not feel pretentious. The support is not limited to your training session, F45 offers support on social media and the F45 Challenge app. All of these avenues provide useful information to excel you towards your goals. This training is for any level. I lost 50lbs in one year, the textbook way to do it - managing your macros, cardio days to burn the fat and resistance/weight training to build the muscle to burn fat. The commitment is not to the program but to yourself. F45 will keeps is simple - sessions are on-time, trainers are experts, professional and of course FUN! Did my first ever assisted chin up!!!! And loved the 2 min plank at the end! Lovely facility, clean space, great ambience to get your core working without the brainwork required. Coming back again! Service 5/5 - Always greeted by their friendly staff. They really push you and watch your posture very closely. Sometimes I try to cheat and skip a few reps but then I'm really only cheating myself . The energy here is high and the staff are always pushing us to do better. I love all the fine details they have planned throughout the facility to make the experience better. I forgot to bring a hair tie today and found one in their little tray of goodies for people, q tips, lotion and hair spray too! Cleanliness 5/5 - Cleanest gym I've been to! Almost cleaner than my home - almost. Their showers and washrooms are spick and span. They must have someone cleaning the place everyday! Workout 5/5 - I was very intimated by this workout because I can see from the class right before mine they were doing chin ups and lifting heavy bar bells. Weight training is not really my thing. I'm a Zumba class kind of girl. Turns out the workout wasn't that bad!! It was fun actually and the assisted elastic bands really helps with the chin ups! I feel like a warrior! Half way through the workout I knew I could crush it! When the workout was done I was hoping it would be another 15 min longer! Price 4/5 - Joined as a foundational member and am paying a weekly price. Pretty expensive compared to the do it yourself gyms like GoodLife but of course you don't get the customized experience.

However, since the last week that I have been there so far it wasn't that bad as I expected. The gym is really big so there is still enough equipment for everyone to use. It would be preferable if they offered sanitizing wipes instead of the paper towels and spray bottles. The change room is decent but a little more cleaning should be done for the washroom. Since the gym is only a few years old, all the equipment still are in good condition. Overall, not a bad gym in the area. It has everything that you need for a good workout.

They explain the routine thoughly and come around during the class to help you with your form and technique. Ownership is really great as well, they are always around and help out with the classes and everyone is very supportive. The bootcamp, circut training classes are very challenging and they alternate cardio and resistance training days. Everyday is different with the exercises, intervals and equipment. The cardio days are brutal!! haha. I tried the Bayview/Sheppard location but I didn't like the layout as much and it didn't feel the same compared the Empress Walk location. I go between 3-5 days a week with on average 4x. To date I lost close to 40lbs, got more toned and couldn't be more happier. The classes are difficult and they do push you to your limits. But, if you stick to it, you can reach your weight loss goals if you trust the process and figure out a meal routine that works for you. There is underground parking available. There is 1.5hr free parking, but you need to get your ticket validated at the studio. It is pretty pricey at $62.00/week after tax with ulimited access, but I am justy happy that I found something that works for me. Can't recommend enough.

I have a lot to say and before I start rambling here is my main point: This is an amazing place to…read morework out, build muscle, and lose fat! Why is it amazing? 1) Support: the support provided doesnt only come from the team of instructors but also the members who go there. You will meet new faces, re occurring members, and everyone will be be patting you on your back saying "good job" or "you can do it". Or even during the work out when you are struggling the team of amazing instructors will be there giving you verbal motivation or even modifying the workout so you dont quit mid way (to get you that 110%). Even your partner working out with you will say "you can do this! One more!". Bascially, you are never alone! What's more is that the team is super friendly and approachable! Got a question? Feel free and ask as they are more than willing to share their experience, passion and wisdom! 2) Hours: are you a morning person? Join the 6am class! Early work hours? There is the 6 or 7 pm class! Got that hour during for lunch and want to go crazy? Hop in the 12pm class. Missed a class and feeling bummed or want that extra burn? Make it up or push through in the weekend class. Basically saying, hours are flexible for you! 3) Cleanliness: this place is always clean and organized! The staff ensure that when you come in all your equipment is there ready to go! They have face towels to wipe that sweat. Heck after your intense workout go hop in one of their 3 showers to refresh yourself! 4) Ownership/Accountability: The team take pride in their work! They are passionate about what they do! Hence they ensure every member gets a rich and fulfilling experience. They want you to reach that goal! They want you to fit in that dress! Most of all, they want you to feel good about yourself! Meeting your goals, your victory is their victory. They will always ask how they can make things better, how they can improve. What suggestions the members can provide to help other members experience. 5) L-O-C-A-T-I-O-N!: Inside the north york center, this location is so ideal!. Coming downtown? Just hop on the north bound train heading to finch and just walk straight up. No going outside (which is amazing coz winter is coming!). Need to do groceries after? Well loblaws is downstairs! Finished that work out with a friend, partner, SO and want to chill? Cineplex is upstairs. Need to travel far? You are one station away from Finch Terminal for GO access. And for all drivers, you get to park inside the complex (safe from all that snow!) And oh yes they validate parking! My personal experience: I love this place for all the reasons I mentioned. I look forward to come to classes because after I feel energetic and that self satisfaction. I do notice an improvement!Maybe today I will meet someone new, maybe tomorrow I will share a high five with someone i met last week. In the end it always a great experience and I have fun! Thrive Fit is the best place that I have ever gone to for group personalized training. Each…read moreindividualized program is designed and well thought out to help you become a better you, physically, mentally, emotionally while being able to give you the support from fellow kettlebell lovers. One thing that I appreciate about Thrive Fit is the sense of community that comes along with the membership. We have various kettlebell challenges that we're all welcome to participate in, we participate in runs and other fitness events (CN Tower Climb, Scotiabank 5K run, etc.), have gym socials every so often as well, among others. Before Thrive Fit, I was a bit of a procrastinator in the fitness world, I always felt sluggish and never really had any motivation for going to the gym so I would fall off of the fitness band wagon more often than not. With the help and guidance of Brian (the owner), his amazing team and myself, I was able to push through whatever mental barriers I had and gained a true appreciation for getting fit and having fun as I did it! In the last year or so, I have become much stronger than I ever thought possible. I actually feel and see muscles forming! To the ladies reading this, you're not going to get big and bulky. It's pretty darn difficult for that to happen, if anything, you're going to start to lean out and look the best that you have ever been before! I'm incredibly grateful for the chance to have been able and continue to workout at Thrive Fit, it's actually the highlight of my week most times haha. No matter how rough my day might have been, after I workout with the kettelbells, I feel unbelievable - like I can take on the world.

Firstly, Crossfit rocks. A fitness routine that incorporates a dynamic range of movements from…read moreburpees to pull ups to olympic weightlifting movements to sprinting. It pretty much encapsulates various aspects of fitness and tightly packs it into 1 hr classes. If you're really looking to jump start your health, physique and overall athletic ability, you should look no further than Crossfit. Hmm I sound a little brainwashed don't I? Well try it and you'll get brainwashed too. Just to let you a bit of my background pertaining to this, fitness is an important part of my life. I make it mandatory to exercise frequently and a lot of my extra curricular activities are physical (volleyball, dragon boat, adventure racing). I've gone through a whole 90 days with P90X and saw some decent results but I want to push it further and Crossfit seemed like a perfect fit. Location: What attracted me most was the location of this gym. Most of the crossfit gyms are downtown but this one is the only one I've found that is more uptown. That alone, makes this gym a solid choice for those looking to try it out but don't live downtown Facilities: Like most Crossfit gyms, the main elements required empty spaces with pull up bars on the wall, rings hanging from the ceiling, olympic barbells/dumbells, and medicine balls. This gym is not fully equipped like a Goodlife with elliptical machines or exercise machines because that's not really what the sport entails. There is one washroom (no shower) and individual change room that are very well maintained. Overall, the gym is very clean despite having that garage gym feel which is super cool. You can tell how much a gym owner cares by how well they maintain the facilities and it's pristine(Yes, as a Crossfit tradition, you're supposed to collapse to the floor after workout and this floor is very clean). It's a bit small in comparison to the likes of CrossfitTO, but is okay for the average class size (5-8). Classes/Membership: This gym runs on the instructional class methodology with room for specialized programs once you've become familiar with proper form. Like any sport, there are skills that need to be taught properly to avoid injury and ensure proper muscle development. I can't count the number of times I've seen people in the gym lifting big weights but with really bad form. Sure, it's an ego thing and I was like that too but no more. Having instructional classes allow for injury prevention and proper muscle development. As classes are typically not that large (5-8 people per hour), the trainer is able to assist everyone. Classes usually are composed of a strength development component and a metabolic conditioning part (more cardio-esque but with weights sometimes) and last about an hour.(no more of that 2.5 hours at the gym nonsense) Everyone tries to motivate each other during the workouts and the trainers are always being vocal and pushing you along. These classes are ideal for those who don't have much time for the gym but want a workout that is short but high intensity. Trust me, you don't want to work out anymore after just 1 hr here...unless you're crazy. Trainers: Couldn't ask for better bunch of people. They pay attention to your specific needs and suggest things. They scale/modify workouts to your own abilities. They provide you with nutritional advice. They are constantly taking courses to better their understanding of fitness and mobility. They definitely challenge you but don't make you feel like you don't belong. The culture fostered in this gym is definitely one where you can make friends and have social gatherings if you feel so inclined. Overall: Just a great facility overall. As I'll update with a link in the future, this gym was voted best fitness gym in Toronto by the NOW magazine readers! Will post link when available. That alone is a statement in itself. Please don't be hesitant to try it out because you think you're not fit enough. Like I said before, the trainers pay specific attention to everyone and will appropriate workouts according to your own abilities so that you still feel challenged but not pushed over the edge. You have to start somewhere and when you do, this gym will help you see improvements like you've never imagined.
