WARNING DANGEROUS: This company is knowing using malfunctioning X-ray scanners!!! I was exposed to radiation twice from a faulty Dexa Scan machine on Jan. 6,2020.
After the first scan was complete the tech said, "the scan didn't take that I need to be re-scanned." Second scan stopped halfway through over my abdominal area. I literally had to crawl out of the machine!!!
I express my concern that I was exposed to radiation twice and I did not receive any diagnostic benefit. The tech became visibly distraught and told me, "the same exact thing happened at the last event she worked", it's a mobile x-ray unit housed in a van which is driven to different locations. She said, "the company was notified of the malfunctioning but they are having difficulty getting mechanics to come out and repair the unit so they are still using the scanner on patients regardless of the risks". She said, "the company cannot legally work on the machines themselves because of the radiation exposure risks!" She stated, "the company instructed her to run a quality insurance scan and to scan her husband and herself!!! It is against the law to require employees to expose themselves and their family members to radiation to see if an x-ray machine is working properly. This is insane!!!
I received a call from the owner Jason Belvill. He immediately attack me personally calling me a liar. Why on earth would anyone make up such a sick story...for a free $45 scan, are you serious!!! He tried to victim shame me saying if you don't like being exposed to radiation why did you buy a scan from our company...because I was a fool and I trusted you!!! He admitted that I was exposed to radiation twice but said it was no big deal because each scan is only 4 RADS...absolutely no apology or remorse...truly a psychopath!!! (US researchers found that repeated exposure to ionizing radiation from medical imaging such as x-rays can accumulate over time to substantial cancer-causing doses...Aug 28, 2009) (How does ionizing radiation affect cells? Radiation strikes the DNA molecule directly, ionizing and damaging it. Alternately, radiation can ionize water molecules, producing free radicals that react with and damage DNA molecules.
I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years and have seen a lot of unethical behavior but honestly, I never encountered a company this morally bankrupt and criminal! I am in the process of filing complaints with both federal and state agencies. Body Spec will not silence me.
Body Spec is also violating Yelp policies by soliciting yelp reviews. They have 8x10 papers on the ceiling (classy) which you see while being scanned asking customers to post reviews and if you show the tech your review, they will enter you in a raffle. When companies beg for reviews you know they are desperate, so disregard all the solicited 5 stars reviews. Below is yelp's policy...
What is Yelp's review solicitation penalty?
Businesses should not ask for or solicit reviews on Yelp, as it leads to deceptively biased content. This includes asking friends, family, or customers to write reviews; offering incentives or freebies in exchange for reviews; or working with companies that send review solicitation emails. read more
