This business is junk. I got shuttled between multiple locations because of their screw up and they were not even apologetic. Sounds like this is standard and expected based on their behavior. One and done!

The imaging services provided here aren't typically covered by dental insurance plans. And even if there is a slight chance that they are, this place does not provide insurance billing services - meaning, you have to pay out of pocket and handle insurance reimbursement on your own. I needed to get a high resolution CT scan of my mouth to see how close my nerves were to the roots of my wisdom teeth. Basically, if they were really close, there was a chance the nerve could get damaged and I would lose sensation in my chin. Random, yes, but also quite unsettling. So, I end the debate and decide on getting the $395 CT scan. As I walk in, I notice that the facility is quite dated and there is only a single lady behind the front desk. She spoke quite muffled, but when she said "We don't deal with any insurance!" it seemed to resonate the entire waiting room. She wasn't exactly pleasant and as I began to reconsider my hefty investment in this CT scan, I hear her typing on a 1945 Typewriter. Ummmm...please, front desk lady, I hope you'll use the $395 to upgrade to the 90's with something that at least has a monitor. The actual scan wasn't that bad. I just had to hold still for about 18 seconds. The x-ray tech was really nice and helpful. He showed me how my images turned out and explained what would happen before they send the final product over to my oral surgeon. All in all, he was a great guy. Pluses for the friendly x-ray tech but minuses for the archaic ambiance and the not-so-welcoming front desk lady = just an average review.

They typed everything into a computer while talking, which can feel a bit impersonal, but they were still polite and asked if I had any questions. In October of 2012 I turned 40 years old. A few months later in Feb of 2013 I had my first…read moremammogram. My results came back clear of breast cancer. A couple of weeks after I received the BTW letter informing me that I have dense breasts. Ok..... In June of 2014 I noticed I was feeling sore in my right under arm. This lead me to give myself a self exam. With my fingers I pressed and followed the soreness under my arm which led me to discover a lump in my right breast. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Santa Clara Kaiser's breast imaging department. A couple of days after finding the breast lump I went to have a mammogram. The technician asked me how I found the lump and I told her how I had soreness in my underarm which led me to the lump. They decided to also conduct an ultra sound where again the technician asked how I found the lump. I told her the same armpit story. The ultra sound was performed on my right breast only. Someone decided my lump was not cancerous and sent me on my way. A few weeks after I had an appointment in August with my GYN. I asked her what I should do if the lump got bigger. She said for me to notify her because it might fill up With fluid and need to be drained. Also by this time I had developed firmness on the right side of my breast. Trusting her I took her word for it. Sure enough about a month later the lump did get bigger so I notified my GYN. She wasn't to see me available so I saw someone else. She was very nice and felt the lump upon examination. She immediately scheduled me to see a breast surgeon a few stations down. It was the end of their day and I got the impression they were annoyed with her for fitting me in. They me back and I changed into a gown. The surgeon came in asked me a couple of questions, quickly examined the lump and said there was nothing to drain. She seemed to be in a rush and just rolled around in her chair talking matter of factly. I pointed out the area of my breast that had become abnormally firm. She barely examined my breast and said she really didn't feel anything even though I could actually grip it with my fingers. To me it was the size of a small cutlet. Because she was a surgeon I trusted her, thinking she must see plenty of cases and has to know what she's talking about. So again was sent on my way. Around a month or so later in began to have pain and discomfort in my right breast. My breast was also noticeably bigger now. Again I reached out to my GYN via email. She emailed me back saying that pain was not necessarily a sign of anything concerning but to schedule an appointment with one of her constituents because she was not available. So I did. A day or so later I went in to be examined and the physician asked how I found the lump so I told him. He agreed my breast looked swollen and was warm to the touch. He wrote a prescription for an antibiotic just incase it was a breast infection. However, before I picked up the medication he first wanted me to have a mammogram the next day. At the mammogram the next day I explained to the tech how I found the initial lump. It was followed up with an ULSD where by this time the tumor was so big she couldn't make out a lump. She searched n searched. Was going back and forth into the other room to get the doctors advice on where or how to continue scanning me. I would just let waiting for the Ulsd tech to return. I was thinking, why doesn't Dr. just come in and scan me herself. Well she finally advised the technician to Ulsd more into my underarm. So she did. Bingo!!! There were the swollen nodes that had been there all along. No one had bothered to look in my under arm where my story started. It was just a swipe higher and that's all it took. Why didn't they do that the first time? Lymph nodes under the arm are a huge correlation in breast cancer. A biopsy was then performed and I got the call a few days later,"you have very aggressive breast cancer!". From the discovery of my lump and my diagnosis there was just a few months. How could I have a clear results in June and Brest Cancer at the end of October. I did everything I was supposed to do. I had followed up with concerns and was not taken seriously. To this day Kaiser refuses to give me a clear answer. I read the surgeons notes from the exam where she couldn't drain my lump and she noted she spent 25 minutes with me. It was actually less than 10 minutes. Kaiser failed me when I needed them the most. Yes, I already had breast cancer but the delay in my diagnosis led me to experience fear, anxiety, frustration and pain. Throughout my treatment I was in fear because I did not trust Kaiser. I had kaiser as my caretakers for 40 years. A second opinion with Stanford confirmed that the 1st mammogram images in June of 2014 clearly had suspicions nodes under my right armpit. I would put zero stars if I could. Thank you, Liz
