I did a body scan here a few months ago and I plan on coming back for a follow up in the next month…read moreor two. The appointment only took about 15 minutes for me, I scheduled it on the same day and then pulled up 5 minutes before the appointment. Staff took care of me and helped me adjust my positioning to get the most accurate scan. I got my results within a few hours online and I saw a full breakdown of my fat percentage, lean mass, bone density, etc... I would say it was a good value for the price and you can find discount codes online if you do some research (or use an LLM). Parking is kind of a pain though.

So, I decided to get a Dexa scan so that I could verify whether or not my Hume Bodypod scale was as…read moreaccurate as Hume Health claimed. I'll cut to the chase and tell you it was surprisingly accurate, and within the margin of error, although Dexa is the "gold standard." I won't bore you with the metrics but I will bore you with the experience. First off, the location for the mobile service has ample parking and was conveniently located. The mobile van was clean, the technician - Suhban Khan was very professional and knowledgeable. Like myself, he was also a fitness coach and had solid knowledge not only with Dexa but also the leading body composition measurement devices on the market and smart scales. We had a good chat and I interviewed him briefly for the YouTube channel. If you want to watch, here's the link: https://youtu.be/eJ9x2bf5QHA?si=sytHprsQ9ydwYn-R The scan took about 10 minutes time, with 6 minutes for the scan. You just wear light, loose clothing and lay back, while the scanner passes from your head to your feet. It moves a fraction every 30 seconds. The van was mostly quiet with ambient music - felt very much like any medical setting. Is this a necessary experience for everyone? No. For most people seeking general health I would recommend getting the good habits of proper nutrition, exercise and proper rest before worrying about getting a Dexa but...it will help keep you accountable to your goals and honestly, the subscription service is pretty affordable. I enjoyed my experience and will check in again in a few months.

This review isn't for the service so much as the cost. $2000 per vaginal pregnancy ultrasound, when…read morethe national average hovers around $500. I moved to SF and found out I was pregnant. I was about 8 weeks and didn't have a doctor here, so my doctor in Chicago referred me to this center for an ultrasound. I called to see if they accepted my insurance, and they said they did. On the first visit, we didn't hear a heart beat, so naturally scheduled a follow-up for the following week, at which time we did hear one. On both visits, we did not see a doctor, just the technician, who performed the vaginal ultrasound and did not give us much information. She said she would give updates to my doctor in Chicago, who then called us with information. We switched insurance right after, due to the move and new job, and I found an OB here. At the same time, I got the bill from UCSF--$2K per ultrasound, for a total of $4K. The ultrasound had a bunch of tacked on costs, like doctor's fee (I'm guessing the tech showed it to a doctor there), facility fee, etc. Insurance said they would only cover half of each, so we're paying $2K out of pocket. To make it worse, USCF doesn't have an automated monthly billing option, so I have to log in every month which reminds me (hence this review--I just made a payment!). When we went to my first OB visit, he was going to perform an ultrasound, but I hesitated and asked how much it would cost. He said even if insurance didn't cover it, the cost would be about $300. (Insurance did cover it). This is mostly FYI for those of you that may be going there for a basic ultrasound or something, to know about the additional fees that get tacked on, which your insurance may decide not to cover. We would have been better off going to a doctor's office or something without insurance and paying out of pocket, rather than a research hospital/facility that has a lot of additional fees.

Their data-driven approach and body scans cut right through the noise and got me moving forward fast. I'm leaner, clearer on my goals, and actually achieving them. But the real difference has been Morgan. As a coach, Morgan is exceptional -- deeply encouraging, sharp, and the kind of presence that makes you want to show up and push harder. Top notch in every sense. The coach makes all the difference, and Morgan is the real deal. Encouraging without being generic, sharp without being clinical -- Morgan has a gift for knowing exactly what you need and when you need it. That relationship is what turned my experience at Kalos from good to exceptional. The program itself is excellent too -- the data-driven approach and body scans helped me break through a plateau I'd been stuck at, and I'm far leaner and more focused on my goals than I've been in years. But Morgan is the reason I kept coming back.

The scan didn't take very long but was a bit discombobulating since both the table and scanner move during the procedure. This can cause nausea for anyone with cochlear illness. When the printout was coming out of the machine my sales person said I had scoliosis. I wasn't totally straight on the table because I wasn't asked to. Nobody else has ever diagnosed me with this condition. So much for not diagnosing disease. She then took me to the cubicle of secrecy to tell me about a 24/7 availability of her to help me achieve my health goal of muscle gain. The only hands on portion is the monthly dexa scan. The services includes monthly scans and some set exercises you do on your own. Nobody who actually trains with you. Just a list of trainings for you to do solo. I'll pass. But I hope they will give me a high quality image of my dexa so I can submit to my doctor's office as a baseline.

I was billed for services that I had already paid for, so I telephoned the billing department on 03/02/21. I explained the situation to Linda and she could not have been less interested in helping me resolve the issue, but told me that she would "investigate" and get back to me. On 03/11/21, since I never heard a word back from Linda or anyone else with Cal Imaging, I called back for an update. Unfortunately I was again connected with Linda (maybe she's the whole billing dept.?) and she was once again very dismissive and extremely curt with me. When I tried to get an understanding of what her "investigation" revealed, she hung up on me. At the end of the day medicine is about customer service and unfortunately Linda's appalling lack of regard for patients reflects negatively on the entire organization. Because of her, I will never utilize the services of this medical group again. My recommendation to management would be to provide Linda with some much needed customer service training.
