Over three years coming here but I wanted to share a health benefit I've never experienced before …read more All my life I've been lifting heavy weights and I've been fairly muscular for the last thirty years or so. My HDL cholesterol number have always been lower. It has jumped up from the thirties to 62 in the last year after I started more vigorous yoga like sculpt from Moji and Bikram from Jamie.. I'm still able to bench 315 pounds once a week because yoga works on my small muscles . All heavy weight lifters have sore shoulder joints which yoga has helped me overcome greatly . But sculpt and Bikram is not easy especially at 72 but I try my best to get through the class.

Joya Pleasanton offers a variety of modalities - vinyasa, bikram, Pilates, barre, and HIIT type classes. I take vinyasa and wish there were more j flow vinyasa classes on weekday mornings but I get it, I'm in the minority! The vinyasa instructors have all been excellent - positive, encouraging, and always thoughtful and creative in sequences. The care team is always friendly and they do a great job keeping the yoga rooms tidy and fresh. Parking at Joya Pleasanton can be tricky. It's best to check the schedule and see when classes get out before your chosen class begins. Try to arrive a couple mins after patrons leave. (Here I am, given away my parking secrets!) If that seems too complicated, get to class at least 15 mins early in case you need to circle the lot or find street parking around the block.

When it comes to my body I have very high standards on who I would trust my health with and Kavita has been nothing but a blessing. She is extremely sensitive and worked with my body and its issues in such a positive, warmth manner. I have gained strength, flexibility and most important of all awareness. She has helped me be more mindful of my body and I have seen drastic improvements in reduced chronic back pain along with other areas. Sadly, I'm thinking seriously though of ending my $229/month unlimited membership because of the cancellation policy. If I wake up and see that later meetings have been booked for me, and I can't make a 5pm or 6pm class, I feel that if I opt out of the class by 9 or 10 or 11am for that evening, that is ample time for the next person in line (usually a wait list) to be psyched to have secured a spot. To be charged $15.00 when that happens doesn't seem equitable. They've easily filled the spot -- and they are charging a cancellation fee. Life happens, and I understand if people just don't show up. Charge them. I strongly request and encourage ownership to consider 6 hour window, instead of the current 12 hours. Went to bed last night feeling a migraine coming on. Cancelled at 9:30pm for my 9am class this morning and woke up to a $15.00 charge. Policy needs to change, or I'll have to try another venue.

Overall, I'm disappointed with how inconsistent the studio has become and would hesitate to recommend this location.

After so many deep tissue massages that left me with days of recovery, it is a tremendous boon to get work from someone that knows how to move stuff around without the 'grind'. She has also given me many good exercises to work on problem areas. There is no modality she won't explore. She has a great talent for intuiting what needs work and makes this easy with pleasant conversation and clear feedback on what is going on. Her work with me helps me stay more active and moving which is great for chronic pain. I feel like I have more of my life back.
