I swear I have a love-hate relationship with this gym. I was happy to see the hand sanitizer dispensers are now working which was my major contention before. The massage chairs now allow you to scan your pass in order to start up for one ten minute session per day instead of you having to bother the front desk person to start it up. In addition, they now have a red light therapy room that runs in ten minute sessions as well. You better believe I'll be taking advantage of the massage and RLT post shift. Zumba classes still available when I decide to drop by again (you're too popular Alberto!) and no issues with the workout equipment. I also appreciate that they have a variety of channels playing so you can station yourself accordingly based on your preference. read more

Extremely Frustrating and Concerning Billing Practices I had a very disappointing experience with Vim and Vigor Fitness in Pleasanton, CA, regarding their membership cancellation and billing practices. I cancelled my wife's membership and updated the payment account to a working account on the same day. Despite this, a few months later, we received a threatening email stating that her account was overdue and would be sent to collections if the balance was not resolved. When I went in person to address the issue, I discovered that her membership had apparently been reactivated without our knowledge because the account was considered overdue. This is particularly concerning given that I had already cancelled the membership and provided an updated, working payment method. To make matters worse, the employee I spoke with told me that he needed a manager to deactivate the account, but the manager would not be back for another week. How is a gym unable to resolve a basic membership and billing issue because a manager is unavailable for an entire week? The entire experience has been frustrating, unnecessarily stressful, and unacceptable. **Threatening customers with collections over disputed charges while seemingly reactivating a cancelled membership without notification raises serious concerns about the gym's billing and cancellation procedures.** I consider these practices predatory and will be submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. I would strongly caution prospective members to carefully document all cancellation requests and keep records of their billing communications. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this gym to anyone who values transparent billing, reliable customer service, and straightforward membership cancellation procedures. read more

What a wonderful gym! Everyone is so helpful and attentive. The manager Joe was so patient when I had an issue. I am so glad I found this place. What a gem. read more

I've been going to this gym almost a year. The bathrooms have gotten worse and worse. Mold, stains on the bathroom stall walls and doors. Doo Doo on the inside of the toilets. The showers are just as awful. When I complained, the front desk staff said "There is nothing we can do about that". Maybe clean the bathrooms? The machines are always taken by groups of 4 kids, so going there with a work out plan is out of the question. I wanted to cancel my membership, but there is a $50.00 buy out fee. I asked when the manager would be back, and the front desk person, who previously said there was nothing they could do about dirty bathrooms, didn't know when the manager would be back. Then guessed, may an hour or two. So, in conclusion, rude front desk staff, beyond dirty bathrooms, and good luck getting the machines you want. read more

Five stars because we had a positive experience at this gym-walking in to just check it out and see the newer part. There was only one person available to show us around. His name was Gus and he was helpful and friendly. This was such a different experience than Villa Sports. Great customer service today ! read more

This gym is absolutely horrendous. Been a member for years and it got even worse after it stopped being Fitness 18. They are so cheap they won't even cool the gym adequately l. I sent an email to the customer service email staff provided re this issue and received ZERO RESPONSE. They rather have people feel like they are abt to pass out. Plus it is full of high schoolers working out in groups of 4 and hogging machines. No rules are enforced. read more

I've been to a lot of gyms, and unfortunately this is one of the worst experiences I've had--not because of the equipment, but because of the people and the management. The gym culture here is incredibly inconsiderate. Members regularly leave weights scattered everywhere without re-racking them, making it frustrating and unsafe for others trying to work out. There's a noticeable sense of entitlement--people act like basic gym etiquette just doesn't apply to them. What really pushed things over the edge for me was the cleanliness, especially in the restrooms. On more than one occasion, I've walked into stalls that were absolutely disgusting--unflushed toilets and, unbelievably, feces left on the toilet seat. That's beyond unacceptable for any facility, let alone one people pay to use. Management is also a major issue. The manager, Joe, doesn't seem to take complaints seriously. Calls go unanswered, and there's little to no follow-up when issues are reported. It feels like concerns are ignored rather than addressed. Overall, this gym has potential, but until management enforces basic standards for cleanliness and member behavior, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Bad service. Avoid at all cost! I cancelled my membership with them today. My wife and I were long-time members of the original Fitness 19 gym at the same location. We were pretty happy with it. After the gym was bought by Vim + Vigor, things took a down turn: frequent broken facilities, frequent empty wipes, less friendly staff, etc. We tolerated them because this location is pretty close to our house. However, we can't take it any more. When my wife tried to get into the gym today, the staff told her that her recurrent payment was denied a while ago and now she needed to pay a late fee. We were very surprised: 1. we never received any email or phone call or text message about the payment issue; 2. to our surprise, when we checked the contact information of my wife, it was replaced by a complete stranger's information; 3. The same thing also happened last month and my wife paid it with her credit card. At that time, she also asked the staff to update the recurrent payment method so it would not happen again. It turned out they didn't take care of it. The manager, Joe, constantly told us that we must have updated our own information (I don't know why we would have done that) and he was also like "we may have made a mistake, but I was not there so I don't care and I don't give a f**k". He insisted for us to pay for the late fee and even threatened that he would report this to a debt collection company. We don't care about the $10 late fee but the basic principle is that you don't ask other people to pay for your own mistakes. So we decided to terminate and take our businesses somewhere else. People, if you are looking for a good gym, avoid this place! It is chaotic at the minimum. And the gym doesn't seem to care about their customers at all. At least that is what I feel from their store manager. read more

They're misleading with their "3-day pass." I'm an out-of-town visitor who comes to Pleasanton often and just wanted to get a workout in, but they denied me the 3-day trial. I ended up using my Active & Fit one-day pass instead. After that, one of the managers kept questioning me and acted like he'd never seen a guest pass before, almost as if he thought I was lying. Bottom line: don't bother coming here for the 3-day free trial if you're not a California resident. That restriction isn't mentioned on their website, so I'm posting this to save others the time. I was planning to sign up through Active & Fit, but after this experience, I won't be giving them my business. Just sharing my personal experience read more

They just opened up a private gym called Vault within the existing gym that offers some of the best weightlifting equipment around ! Cost is an extra $35/month on top of their Vim and Vigor basic membership. Supposedly limited to the first 500 sign ups so it's not too crowded . Gave me a new motivation to work out and this place rocks ! read more

I was a loyal member of Fitness 19 in Pleasanton since 2012 and purchased a lifetime membership during a promotion. For years, everything was fine--until new management (Vim + Vigor) took over. In late 2024, my lifetime membership was suddenly canceled without justification. After I provided proof, it was reinstated with a $19.99 annual fee, which I agreed to. Then in March 2026, I started seeing unauthorized monthly charges ($22.99) on my account. When I went in to resolve this, instead of helping, the onsite manager (Joe King) was dismissive and repeatedly accused me of using the gym "for free," which is completely untrue. The most concerning issue: The "contract" tied to my account appears to be fabricated. It contains my personal information but: -Has an INCORRECT BIRTH DATE -Includes a SIGNATURE that is not mine This raises serious concerns about FRAUD and misuse of personal information (PII). When I asked for an explanation, I was given unprofessional responses instead of any effort to investigate. The situation escalated to the point where I was told my membership would be canceled and that I was no longer welcome--simply for questioning unauthorized charges and a questionable/fabricated contract. This is not just poor customer service--this involves unauthorized billing and serious concerns about document integrity and personal data handling. Management should urgently review how customer records and contracts are being handled at this location. I am taking this matter to the court for identity misuse and document falsification. read more

The mean is great here! Always welcoming. Especially the early Moring crew and Brian especially!! Always has a great attitude!! Great gym!!

I've been going to Vim & Vigor for about a month now, it's been a great experience. They have plenty of exercise equipment, and I especially enjoy walking on the treadmill, doing some light weights, and stretching. It does get busy in the evenings, but I enjoy seeing so many young people motivated and active. The staff and trainers are polite and welcoming. I also had the pleasure of taking personal training session with Jonathan--he's very kind and supportive. If you're looking for an affordable gym, I highly recommend checking it out. read more

Overall, I think this gym has most of what you'd be looking for in a commercial gym. Really not much to complain about! The only thing I didn't appreciate was that the area that is now "the Vault" had some equipment and space I enjoyed using, and we've lost that space and some of that equipment. read more

I love the price but I have given the front desk staff feedback twice now and as usual why would young teenagers making minimum wage only working to workout for free care? They are nice enough to listen but they go right back to being cell phone zombies. Pretty basic place. Older equipment. Nice for high schoolers and men that just want to do weights. Misleading promotions!! I just went back and read reviews and found a review that has been my exact experience and where the owner is saying he will strive to fix this. Well clearly he hasn't as it happened to me too. Great equipment, and a variety of options. Hasn't been overly crowded whenever I've been there (usually mid-morning or early-afternoon). Easy sign up and check in process. The Vault is a nice perk to the membership as well. As some other reviews state, the customer service when you walk in the door could be better. But I didn't join the gym for the welcoming committee when I arrive. I signed up for the amenities and equipment. So 5 stars. read more

Julius was absolutely incredible to work with. I originally called because I was confused and frustrated -- I had cancelled my membership a year ago, yet I was still being charged for my son's membership. I honestly felt desperate for answers. It turned out to be a tricky situation: the account wasn't listed under my phone number, but under my son's, and it had been part of a two-for-one special. Only one membership had actually been cancelled -- not both. Through all of this, Julius stayed calm, patient, and incredibly professional. He took the time to carefully track everything down, explain what happened, and even stayed on the phone to walk me step-by-step through the online cancellation process. What impressed me even more was that he did all this while also being the only person working the front desk, helping walk-ins at the same time -- yet he never once sounded rushed or annoyed. Julius turned a stressful situation into a positive experience, and I'm truly grateful for his help. read more

Super clean super organized. I think the employees organize all the positions for the weights, so everything is where it should be

This is my go-to spot for workout. I like to work out at night, and don't have any issues with waiting for equipment. I don't see too much equipment under maintenance and not usable, but I think if there is equipment out of order that it's for our safety. I appreciate that, rather than leaving messed up equipment open for use. So, even if my favorite machines are out of order, I can still find something else to use and get my workout done. I don't see much change right now in the vibe of the place since the ownership or name change. I still see the same people I normally see at the gym, and I don't need anything flashy. read more

Pros: Not bad since the change of ownership Newish equipment in some cases Kind of spacious Lots, and I mean LOTS, of treadmills Cons: The staff at the front desk don't look up from their phones when you come in, smile, and say hi. 1. poor customer service at Pleasanton location. Others have also complained about the attitude of the staff but there appears to be no change . Other health club are more enthusiastic and professional and are happy you come. Here they could care less if you come or not. Not welcomed at all!! People who work there act like they hate their job. They rather look at their cell phones or computer! 2. No paper towels in rest room 3. Located next to 5G tower which has been linked with health issues. I have to wear a special protective shirt just to work out. 99% of the people are oblivious to the health hazards. I just joined. No yoga class in this gym. Classes are low quality except may be with one instructor. Restrooms are not clean.

Got this gym membership as its closer to work and home, I still have my 24 hour fitness membership which I got in 2004 (only pay 49.00 per year). But this gym is excellent, clean and actual working machines/equipment. The cleaning wipe dispensers are always full which is nice to wipe down machines/dumbells. It's nice to go to another gym has different equipment as well. I have seen at least 5 24 hour fitness members join this gym. It's probably because they are tired of dirty non-working equipment over there. I rate this place a 5 out of 5 so far. I've been coming to this gym for a few months now and don't plan on switching any time soon. I used to go to the fitness 19 at this location a few years back, and it is very similar. I signed up for my membership online and it was very convenient and simple to do on the website, and I have never had any problems with any payment. I've come in throughout the day because I'm usually not consistent with what time I come, and it has never been too crowded. I sometimes do have to wait for equipment but it's never too long and usually if I use something else while I am waiting it is free when I return. They have lots of cardio machines as well, including many treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, and stairmasters. I've attended a few pilates classes too and the instructor is amazing and definitely makes it an intense workout. read more

This place is a joke and just focused on making money. Customer service is not the priority. I went in person to cancel my membership. They verified my cancellation. Misleading promotions and very difficult to cancel membership. Seems that it is done in purpose to continue to charge fees. The gym is adequate for high school kids and that's it. I've been a member of the Vm and Vigor for about 3 months now and definitely regret joining. The positives are the place is generally clean and usually the machines are fixed. Otherwise, it's WAY oversold on memberships and on top of this the trainers believe they and their trainees deserve some type of priority over all space. I go there about 6 days a week but at least twice a week I'm not able to work out because there is way more people than machines or free weight stations to work out. Literally awful. I have never been here before and planned on using the free 3 day pass but was immediately stopped as I was walking in. They started questioning me on whether I've been here before and even though I said no the manager repeatedly questioned me and was not believing me. He then proceeded to ask if I wanted a membership for $20/day and when I said no he agreed to a 1 day pass and took a photo of me to add me to the system. Finally, I bit the bullet. I waited a couple of months. I dragged myself in dressed in my turquoise gym outfit with my matching turquoise workout bag. It was not as bad as I thought. I'd gone over to San Ramon Club Sport for a couple of months and worked out there until I was ready to take the plunge. The plunge to return to my old club that was a new entity. I politely said "hi" and looked around and the staff were all very nice to me and very understanding of my standoffishness. They all knew I kind of missed my old workout buddies. I was welcomed back and I walked around trying to decide what my workout was to be. I started working out really glad I returned were my thoughts that 1st week of being at VIM + VIGOR FITNESS. I lived with the new gym changes and decided to tell a couple of my girlfriends and talked them into joining. They started working out with me and we started having a real good time. Therefore, even though I was disappointed about a new gym. I got over it fairly quick. My two girlfriends were encouraged to ask their sisters to join and come work out with us and then we could all go out for a very late lunch or any extra early dinner. Everyone is happy now! Especially, me! See below my origiinal reaction to change of ownership. However, it worked out for the best. I was disappointed when I found out new owners of a once loved gym of mine changed hands. Creeps, they sold out. I moped about it, refused to face the facts of new ownership existing. Finally, I dragged my feet across the asphalt. I scuffed my shoes across the tops from dragging my feet. My tennis shoes ruined. They were pretty chartreuse and reflected the scuff marks like a stain on the manufacturer creating an ugly shoe instead a pretty wild shoe to dance into the gym with during my lunch hour. I stood at the front door and put my hand on the door handle. I just couldn't do it. I stood out like a sore thumb not making the effort to walk in. That was the month ownership changed hands. I sulked about new ownership. They should of asked me if I wanted a new owner to own my favorite gym. What an atrocious name. Who thought it up, a marketing firm? Probably, the name sucked. How come they chose it? Why couldn't they of chosen a name like A+ Fitness? They could of chosen the name, A+ Vigorous Workout Gym. what the heck does VIM mean? I would give a 5 rating to the instructors Sandra and Julia. They work tirelessly to give a class that is exceptional. Attendance is always at or above capacity.
