Fabulous program! They are wonderful with my two sons. Most positive experience we've had with martial arts programs.

If you are a woman considering a self defense class, or a man considering one for the woman in his…read morelife, skip this one and try RAD (Rape Awareness Defense). It costs only $20 for the basic course, compared to $350 for this one, and in RAD you will be trained by Male and Female police officers with on the street combat experience as a part of there job, rather than feminists who've never faced a determined attacker on the street in their lives. True, you won't get to fight a walking punching bag with a guaranteed win each time, knocking over a carefully picked feminist man, who will tell you the elbow to the face and knee to the groin he let you give him was sufficient to knock him out, but you will also not walk out over confident in your ability to stay and knock out a fully adrenalized man who may out weigh you by 70 pounds and be 4 times as strong. You will however learn realistic strategies and techniques to fight back, and then quickly escape, and you will have paid about 93% less. Additionally if you are a man and you choose RAD, you will not have to sit through any feminist or MeToo rhetoric at graduation, as there is no formal graduation. RAD is not for show, and the ladies are wisely encouraged not share what they learned with their male significant others, in case it becomes necessary to use there skills in defense of themselves.

Our programs give participants skills in boundary setting, verbal de-escalation, awareness and intuition, bystander intervention, and self-defense. Our work helps people live healthier, safer, and more empowered lives, thereby contributing to the safety and vibrancy of their community. The IMPACT training method is innovative and interactive. Since the human response to fear or stress is a rush of adrenaline, we teach using real life scenarios with padded instructors that allow participants to feel what it is like to experience the adrenalized state. This is what makes our training more realistic and more practical. We help participants learn how to think clearly and problem-solve under high levels of stress. Some of the positive effects of IMPACT training include: ● Improved confidence, self-esteem, and resilience ● Motivation to handle new and challenging tasks ● Ability to set clear boundaries ● Creative and flexible problem solving ● Leadership development ● Greater general awareness ● Quicker decision making ability in emergencies ● Ability to stop assaults and violence in the early stages ● Decreased risk of assault

Come for a free class and be pressured into a long-term contract and to buy a bunch of useless…read moreequipment that is made out to seem important. The class isn't so bad sometimes, when the instructor, (who seems to be at every class and the fine print doesn't let you train at other "schools".) Isn't yelling at you for being lazy and complaining about working too hard, (her job being training you...) She will mock you about every trivial thing like not knowing movie trivia or that you didn't magically know what she did that morning. She complains so much! And for all the complaining, she doesn't even work that hard; never gives clear instructions if at all, and will just watch you with a passive aggressive smirk but no guidance. And 90% of the time you just do groin kicks and hammer fists; you already know how to do that! Now get a hand held bag of some sort, a friend and train on your own. You'll save $2500 and a lot of stress.

The person I was paired with was also nice, but the issues started with the instructor. The instructor came over and tried to correct my technique many times, and even though I was polite he acted confrontational. At one point, he had me demonstrate the technique with him, and pulled me so my hands landed on the ground. I was respectful and tried harder to do the technique correctly, but he seemed to have it out for me. Later, he had me do the technique with him, and when I didn't let go, and his finger manipulation didn't work, he got frustrated and started fighting semi-seriously in front of his class. The result was ending in guard, with his other students shocked at the event. Again, this was quite combative for my first class, especially considering this gym doesn't let people spar for 6 months after starting classes. I wouldn't recommend Colorado Krav Maga for anyone looking to actually train with a live opponent, as they did many stop-drills ("attacker" vs "defender") and pad-work cardio. You won't get a 3 minute round of light resistance with a classmate here, at least not during your first six months. In comparison, most MMA gyms will let you lightly spar or train right away, are more friendly, and present less awkward "situations." The cost was also higher than most MMA gyms, and many plans require a down-payment. Personally, I would look somewhere else.

I have had visited many schools before and have had the honor of being taught by some very good instructors. That said. Prof. Peter does a great job running his classes and instructing his students. It is well organized from beginning to end and he is actively involved during the entire class. Starts on time and no wasted time. During my drop-in, we were going over the Osoto Gari takedown (a technique I have been taught many times by Judo blackbelts). Prof. Peter provided excellent and balanced detail on the technique, as it was a beginner/intermediate class, careful not too overwhelm the students. Highly recommend checking this school out. Clean facilities, great instruction and good vibes. Keep up the good work Prof. Peter! PS. Watch out for a former D1 All-American wrestler posing as a 4 stripe white belt. What he lacks in BJJ technique he overwhelmingly makes up for in grappling IQ and will crush higher belts. Sorry bud, but you need some color on your waist.

If you want your child to be exposed to a positive, confidence building environment where respect and work ethic is valued, this is it. You will not regret this decision; as a parent, I saw what TKD did for my sons. If you are an adult wanting to try martial arts, you couldn't have a better group of people to work out with. Quick update: My daughter is thriving and absolutely loves the martial arts. She has been training for almost two years and it's really amazing to see as her dad. In this review, I would like to share my own personal experience as an adult training at The ROCK Martial Arts & Fitness. The first thing is that martial arts training and fitness is not just a sport or exercise program for kids or young people. After watching my daughter train for seven months, I realized how much fun she was having and decided it's not too late for me to join in the fun. That was over a year ago. Master Carr and his team of instructors are impressive martial artists, and have trained Olympic-level athletes. They are superb teachers and coaches. They make learning fun and maintain a good balance in training. The adult classes have a wide range of ages from young adults to men and women over 60 years of age, and there are several of us men over 40 years. Additionally, the students in the adult class represent many different skill levels from beginners to experience. Some of us are a little older or have some physical limitations, like me, but Master Carr is always mindful about our safety in training. The ROCK cultivates an environment of respect and courage, which is conducive to adult learning regardless of age, experience or skill level. One thing I really like is we get to practice and train with everyone during class. While each person can learn, grow, and improve at his/her own level or pace, its fun to get exposure to different training partners in the class. Each adult class is led by Master Carr or by one of his talented 4th Degree Black Belt instructors, who provides hands-on coaching and feedback. The ROCK offers both morning and evening classes to accommodate different schedules. Personally, I like the evening classes. The variety of skills that is being taught includes traditional Taekwondo, boxing, kickboxing, practical self-defense, and personal training. There is also a separate kickboxing class for those who are only interested in improving overall fitness. Each of the instructors has so much knowledge and experience, so it seems we are constantly learning new skills in addition to practicing familiar ones. Training at The ROCK is a great workout and my skills, strength, and stamina has improved, not to mention my confidence, mental awareness, and preparedness for whatever comes my way. Lastly, there is a community at the ROCK where people care about one another and inspire each other to achieve our individual goals as we navigate through our journey. Master Carr leads with his strong faith and by example, which I really appreciate. I would highly recommend The ROCK Martial Arts & Fitness to any adult who is looking for a challenge; want to learn new skills, or just getting one-on-one personal training with a coach to maintain health and improve physical fitness.
