While I was extremely happy with my new arrival, I wanted to get back to my healthier self as soon as possible. And, I knew I couldn't do it on my own. Just a few months later I found a fun, motivating way to start that journey - the New Year, New You Transformation contest at Pursuit Fitness. It was exactly what I needed. Fun, high energy group workouts, an easy to follow meal plan and prizes... you can never go wrong with prizes! While I didn't win the trip to Hawaii (I came in third) by the time the contest was over I was wearing my favorite jeans again. The competition was awesome, but I wanted to keep the momentum going so I decided to become a regular member of the gym. I love that every time I go to the gym there is a challenging, full body workout just waiting to kick my butt. Ryan, Adam and Sarah are always there encouraging me, ensuring good form and pushing me to push myself. The other members help motivate me and make working out enjoyable and fun. I have even convinced my husband to join the gym, so now we challenge each other. I did the wheelbarrows WITH the push-ups, did you =)? I am now just over half way through the Back to School Transformation Contest and seeing great results again (did I mention I like prizes?). My goal for the contest is to get back to my wedding day weight. I have never felt healthier or more confident than I did on my wedding day. I have 5 more pounds to go to hit my goal. My goal after the contest is to continue getting stronger and leaner so that come next summer I am comfortable and confident in my pre-baby bikini. As long as I follow the plan and work my butt off during my workouts I know I will succeed.

Reasons why I love the workout: 1. Treadmills / running are incorporated! I love to run but I hate when I have to chose either weights or running. I love Shred because it keeps both! 2. Minimal thought/ experience required. You don't have to wait for equipment or think about what your next set is going to consist of because they tell you what to do the entire time! Also, if you don't know how to do something- it doesn't matter- because your instructor shows you each move before they expect you to do it. Reason why I love this location specifically: The Instructors & Staff are just the best! I truly feel like I have made some great friends here and that all of the people in this location genuinely care about you. It's so nice that I can pick my classes to go with my favorite instructors or I can take one with someone that's not in my regular "schedule" and I still get the same amazing workout and attention. First of let me start by saying I really don't like working out. I have always found it boring and…read moreI tend to look for reasons to justify not going. This place totally changed that! From the moment I stepped in I just found it to really fit me. It's a quick workout, about 30 min. You can start at anytime so you don't have to follow a schedule. They work your rear end off while you are there. They teach you a lot of very simple things that honestly you could do anywhere but yet so effective. For those that have never been there, there is basically 9 stations and you do 3 min in each station. About 1/2 you have boxing gloves for and 1/2 just a hand wrap. Every week has different variations of workouts in each station with the exception of the jump rope. All I can say is that I am miserable by the end of the 9 rounds, feel great on the drive home and look forward to going back as soon as I can. That my friends...has never happened to me before. Give it a try, it might just work for you as well.

But after a few more I was seeing improvements in both my strength and cardio. What's great is that June will push you past what you THINK your limit was, and even though I'm dying towards the end, is still super supportive. June is a great trainer and goes above and beyond what is required of a personal trainer, he takes a genuine interest in your eating habits and exercise habits outside the gym in order to best maximize your results and helps you reach your goal. Additionally, the rest of the DFM trainers are great, friendly and easy going. We often crack jokes and make small talk before and after work outs. Overall this team of trainers works well together creating an environment conducive to intimidation free work outs and encouraging, and most importantly, getting the results I want.

I really enjoy the ease of the location and the atmosphere, yet at times it can get pretty crowded due to the small space. I have been using DFM since I get my membership at Club, and working with my trainer Dino the entire time. I was very skeptical of using a trainer, as I have always worked out, but have not regretted it for a day!! Jeremy made sure he paired me up with the right trainer for my goals and he did a great job. No matter how badly I want to quit or don't think I can do another set, Dino always encourages me and pushes me to succeed. Dino makes sure I meet the goals I set for myself, but also makes sure I hold myself accountable to holding up my end of the deal by eating well and working out on my own. The trainers at DFM are always positive, friendly and helpful, even if you don't train with them. DFM trainers really make the gym a more enjoyable place to be, thanks for always pushing me harder when I don't think I have anything left to give!

Turns out that was just an excuse my social anxiety made up in my head. Today I finally walked in, and I'm so glad I did. The man and woman at the front desk were incredibly helpful and kind. They gave me a full tour even after I told them I'd never worked out before. Then I met Nick, the personal trainer. He's young, super fit, and exactly the type of person I would've avoided in the past. But today God had a different plan. Nick spent nearly 2 hours with me, teaching proper form and showing me how to lift. He was patient, understanding, and genuinely cool. I hate talking to people in today's world, but he was a true blessing. He made me feel comfortable the entire time. Overland P.F. really is a judgment-free zone. The staff treats you like family. They don't care if you're weak, tired, or just starting--they're there to help you change your life and take your health back. If you've been on the fence like I was, don't wait.
