For nearly $400 a month, I expected a premium fitness club--not an employee-led scavenger hunt. Sharon, a personal trainer at LifeTime Fitness in Frontenac, apparently believes that returning equipment to the place it belongs is just a fun suggestion. Members spend enough time working out without having to tour the entire gym looking for equipment that was left somewhere else. When I mentioned that the equipment should be put back where it came from, Sharon's professional response was to tell me to "mind your own business" and that "it doesn't matter" where the equipment is returned. Interesting philosophy. I wonder if LifeTime feels that way, too. You can almost understand when an occasional member leaves equipment lying around. But when it's an employee--someone who's literally being paid to teach good habits--it's a masterclass in hypocrisy. Maybe the next training package should include a session called "How to Return Equipment 101." It's a short class: pick it up, walk it back, and put it where you found it. For a club that markets itself as a luxury fitness experience, I'd expect trainers to set the example--not encourage members to lower their standards. Lifetime is amazing! I got to experience it on a guest pass and it was an awesome experience. They have everything you need and more at each spot of the facility. *locker rooms: super clean, complete with toiletries, bags for your wet swimsuit, well kept lockers, friendly staff, and easy access to the pool. *the weight room: amazing equipment and ample space with all the machines you need. They have a space for recovery rooms, yoga, HIIT classes, the works. * the pool: such a relaxed vibe. We came the last weekend and it was perfect. They have a hot tub and different spots to catch some rays. The chairs have QR codes to order drinks and food which is pretty cool. * cafe: huge variety of anything you want focused on wellness. They also have prepackaged snacks (shout out Chomps) that are protein heavy and mindful choices. We ordered smoothies, and although pricy, they were good quality. As someone who's spent years at 24 Hour Fitness locations around Los Angeles, walking into Life Time Fitness in St. Louis felt like stepping into a five-star Michelin restaurant after a lifetime of drive-thru burgers. The difference is night and day. A friend of mine signed me in as a guest, not realizing their summer policy restricts guest access on weekends. Thankfully, the front desk staff were incredibly kind and allowed me in anyway, which saved us a trip and made for a great first impression. The facility is immaculate. The equipment is plentiful, spotless, well-organized, and practically brand new. You can really tell they take pride in maintaining this space. Beyond the gym floor, there's a full café offering juices and wellness options, an on-site spa, multiple swimming pools, and gender-specific steam rooms, saunas, and whirlpools. During my visit, I actually forgot which locker I used--classic first-timer mistake--but the staff were once again super helpful and got me sorted out quickly. One downside: guests aren't allowed to attend classes, which was a bit of a bummer because they looked fantastic. Still, with memberships starting around $230 a month, it feels like a steal for everything included. If you're someone who values clean facilities, high-end amenities, and excellent service, this place is absolutely worth it. read more

From baby sitting, to a working space, showers that are actually clean and usable, the friendliest staff, a cafe and bar for food n drinks, plus really updated machinery - it's truly a lifestyle. Lifetime Fitness certainly has a name that proceeds it's reputation. Yes it's big, fancy and also pricey. But I've been a member for quite some time and while it's not always perfect, I will say that I like it there. It's definitely more than a regular gym, as it's more of an athletic club with everything that you'd need to enjoy yourself. With an on-site cafe, bar, work lounge, kids academy, and salon services it's literally a one stop shop for the on-the-go business worker or anyone else who needs a place to workout, get some work done and/or just relax. The locker rooms are spacious, tidy and mostly pretty clean. The showers are luxurious with shampoo, razors, soap and towels provided for use. The fitness floor is spacious but it can be pretty crowded during peak times. But what I enjoy most are the studio classes, which are complimentary. The instructors are great and they give direction that's easy to follow. I'm giving this location 4 stars simply because the people are what sets the tone of the place. Every now and then you'll encounter other members or guests who create distractions; whether intentionally or not it can sometimes be an inconvenience. read more

Wow! LT Frontenac sets the bar for the highest quality workout facility. The locker rooms, cafe, and common areas are clean. The staff is friendly. The workout space is impressive. They have the standards, bench press, curl bar, etc., as well as the latest Nautilus machines and a wide variety of cardio machines. I joined Life Time shortly after COVID, over three years ago. The building plan is spectacular. I've visited other Life Time locations when I traveled for business and this location is among their best. But in January 2024 things began to decline. Of course, every gym gets busier in January. NYE's resolutions, winter forcing us inside all add to a more crowed gym. After twenty years of experience in gyms I know how to schedule my visits accordingly. And most members willingly allow each other to "work in" to facilitate more efficient use of the equipment. I certainly do. But this spring things did not improve. As it turns out, LT oversold the gym. They aren't the first business to try to maximize their revenue, but the epic fail is surprising as LT has every member scan in and has great metrics to predict capacity, barring a use pattern significantly different from historical usage. All gyms strive to encourage members and staff to return equipment to its proper place, wiped down, after each use. But this becomes more difficult with overcrowding. By April 2024, this location was a wreck. In all my years as a gym rat, in gyms across the country, this LT location was out of control. It felt that I was spending more time walking the gym looking for equipment than actually working out. Anecdotally, the training staff seemed to be a big part of the problem. To make matters worse, the two class sections on the floor and all the equipment in those areas, were off limits to members. These sections contain 54% of squat racks, 80% of kettle bells, 40% of dumbbells, all the steppe benches, and so on. I suggested to management that they consider asking class leaders to accommodate other members and allow working in, particularly when the class is not using the equipment. The picture attached is of the squat racks, seven of which are empty but cannot be used because they are in the Alpha area. Of the six that were available to members, two were used by off-duty trainers for the entire hour. I was fourth in line, but ended up waiting 45 minutes for a rack to open up. I emailed the general manager, who forwarded it to the "concierge manager" who forwarded to the "group training manager". She responded that when a class is in session, no matter the number of participants (even just 1), members cannot enter the area to use the equipment. Kindergarteners share better. Neither the GM or the concierge manager, both of whom know me (I would hope so after over three years) ever reached out to ask if my concerns were answered. Then again, they rarely leave their offices. Sadly, an excellent facility has become virtually unusable. The over all culture now is inward looking, ignoring member experience. In the end, I'm a gym rat. The other features of LT, Recovery Room, Cafe, Classes are nice, but if it takes over two hours for a ninety minutes workout due to poor capacity planning and management makes no accommodation for members it's just not with the $3000 per year. I loved this place, but I'm reminded that it's foolish to love things that won't love you back. And no surprise, they never credited back the pro-rate of the member fee. read more

So far I love the gym. There are a lot of choices on how you want to work out. Tons of classes to sign up for, tons of machines, areas to stretch and work on your core, pickle ball, a hoops court. You can also get a haircut here and spa treatments. Indoor/outdoor pool, a sauna, hydromassage area. They have these massage guns to pinpoint areas of pain or discomfort. Pilates, yoga, a coffee club, bingo, smoothie/bourbon tastings. Childcare while you workout. They offer a lot. The pool has a kiddie area, cold plunge lanes and warmer lap lanes. I have never been in a gym like this and would have never gone in had my stylist not changed jobs and landed here. Everyone very, very nice. My trainer Rick is amazing and really helping me learn how to stay fit. It is very clean and well run. Great place!!! read more

Not good for aarp, This facility will pair you with a trainer who is clearly not qualified to train anyone who is looking to get in better shape if you are over 60. They do not listen to your needs/wants. They are poorly unqualified to get you to reasonable goals. You will sign up with hopes to get a good training program. They only want UHC funding. My new membership package included the option to schedule an introductory Pilates session with Catherine. Highly recommend her! After the initial consult session and follow up appointment on the reformer, she provided foundational information I'll be able to use both in futures Pilates sessions as well as on my own at home. I love to run and do HITT classes regularly, but injury prevention and functional fitness has been more of a recent focus for me. Her focus on form and slowing down to ensure I'm engaging the right muscles will definitely be beneficial for those goals. This gym has a lot of amenities and equipment, but they've accepted way too many members and the place is full of personal trainers. Many of these personal trainers think that they are more important than the members. They will use multiple machines at the same time. They'll kick you out of areas because" they have priority". On top of this, management does not enforce any gym etiquette. People leave machines full weights, they move dumbbells and kettlebells around and leave them in the middle of the floor. Trainers will walk by weights and dumbells in the middle of the floor and not bother to help tidy up. read more

But the negative ones overshadow the outstanding ones. I checked in for a hydro facial one day and the desk receptionist acted as if she was too good to talk to me. Life Time athletic club is more like a five-star hotel and resort than a gym. The facility is brand new it just opened December 14th and every inch of it is spectacular. When you first enter the two story space there is a huge café with everything that you could want. They have a big grab and go section including fresh fruits, salads, even entrées they can heat up for you. There is a coffee bar and soon to be wine bar. Right next to that is the Life Time Spa. There is a beautiful private pedicure room that seats two. Perfect for time with your BFF. Behind The spa door is a beautiful lounge area for the facialist and masseuses. It looks like something you'd see in a four seasons or Ritz Carlton with soft lighting candles and beautiful furnishings. When you have a service there you get a warm towel for your hands and face and you're always offered a cup of cold or warm tea. It is truly the most inviting space. The aesthetician Lisa does Hydrafacials, classic facials, waxing, and lash and brow tinting. She can also recommend for you a daily skin care regimen. She was also willing to incorporate any products that I was currently using and suggest some new ones. She is truly an expert with over 20 years of experience in skin care. She recently moved here from Los Angeles. The best part is you don't have to be a member to go to the spa or the café. It's open to the public. I recommend calling for an appointment there are times especially on Saturday when it's busy. Friday night is a good night at the spa. When you go to the spa for a service it includes 2 1/2 hours of free childcare and you also have access to the entire club for the day. It's truly incredible!! read more

Life Time's recent handling of my membership upgrade request blatantly contravened their own Guest and Club Policy. I have a Signature 2 membership and despite explicitly stating under "Membership changes and Information" that authorized members can make changes, including upgrades, they forced me into an unreasonable corner: cancel my existing membership and reapply. This, after I had already paid for a full month, with no offer of a refund. Their inflexible approach, deviating from their stated policy, felt not only unfair but also dismissive of my membership rights. This experience was deeply frustrating and undermined my trust in their system. I have been a lifetime member for over 7 years, and had to cancel because I am currently in school. The fact that I had to drive home instead of coming to a resolution is disturbing. San antonio's lifetime is also quite frankly much nicer, yet I am denied access here after days of being told that everything is all good for days prior. I don't know how to write this but if you are not a member you are missing out on not just an amazing gym with clean and new equipment but on an experience. Ohh the price!!! you might say but you get exactly what you pay for... you walk in and are greeted by ROSS who took time to remember your name and make you feel welcome and special. Then you walk into the locker room where NICK and his crew do their best to keep everything clean, orderly and flowing. Then you take a personal training session or an Alpha class where it kicks your butt and pushes your limits. I am a huge fan of IAN. He has pushed me to limits I didn't know I had or can go near. Then you decide to take a dance class where you shake your butt and sweat it out with STEPHZ. She is amazing and teaches a fun class where even if your lost and have no rhythm you feel empowered and sexy. Then you finish your day with a soak or a nice shower where EVERYTHING IS PROVIDED.. also there are more staff and trainers that are amazing that make the experience over the top. The facilities are fantastic. The pickleball courts are top notch. The problem is that you can never get a reserved court. When they open the booking (eight days in advance) all available courts are booked up within five minutes. But at any given time there is always one if not two courts open. This is beyond frustrating to the point I am thinking of dropping my membership. Club management is well aware of this problem but they don't want to fix it because we do not have to pay for court time. If members cannot get a court they need to pay to join a league which is a profit center for the club. Membership to too pricey to be gouged like this! read more

We were excited to join this club but canceled after a few months. Yes, they talk a great talk about what they offer but you can't get into a class to save your life. It's like checking in for a Southwest Airlines flight and that's stressful enough. You can only book 6 days in advance (how do I know what I want to do 6 days from now?) and you have to be on top of it to get a spot, and if you don't, the wait list is long. Everything is an upcharge it seems. Certain classes such as pilates ($30 a session!), pool usage in the summer, and pickleball court reservations ($20 for an hour if you can even get one), amongst a few. If you aren't thin/fit, wear Lululemon, and carry a Stanley, you'll feel extremely out of place. They do offer WFH spaces, spa services, a cafe, and a bar (no one was ever there so we felt too awkward to even go), but we never even used them like we thought we would. I went ahead and canceled our membership but in true fashion, they require you to stay on for 30 days anyway, regardless of when your last payment came out. If you are willing to pay for the extras and have time and patience to try and get into a class then go for it! But you might want to ditch the Old Navy leggings; I'm surprised they aren't banned attire. The only reason I gave this Shakedown Palace a 2 is because the facility is as nice and clean as it's advertised. read more

Terribly managed club. I have been to several other Lifetime Fitness clubs, and at this club they are completely greedy. At every turn they are attempting to charge your credit card for random misc fees. Every chance it is done without your authorization, and trying to get a responsible party on the phone to address the issues takes weeks. It's nearly impossible to take advantage of all the class offerings because it is incredibly crowded. There are wait-lists for nearly everything, especially for some of the kids events. I have been a lifetime member since 2016 and I absolutely love this gym. They have some of the best staff available. This gym has kept me out of loads of trouble in my 20s. Person like me (chronic pains from previous break in femur) utilizes equipment to reduce pain and get ahead with my body. I highly recommend this place if it is in your means. read more

They use cunning marketing and entrapment to extract money from their members. The facilities are great but the people are deceitful. It's a clever marketing attempt to abuse members. They change things at will with no consideration for members. Make sure you give them a 30 day notice before you end your membership or you'll pay an extra month for services you don't use. Beautiful gym, but they have a theft problem and a customer service problem. I had a coat stolen from a completely locked locker in the men's locker room, which means someone who works there had to open the locker and remove it. When I asked for help to find my coat, they took my phone number and said they would look for it and contact me. I never received a callback, so after a few days, I went there and spoke to another person. That person took me more seriously, said they would look in all the lockers at night, and then contact me. No one has contacted me to this date, and the time of the theft was over two weeks ago. read more

Not enforcing wearing masks properly and cleaning equipment. Say they clean the equipment every 30 minutes, but not true. Try to cancel due to COVID concerns, and they say it is a 30 day out. Not enough cleaning supplies ( no personal bottles.. too expensive) and members leave sweat on the machines and walk away. When they are giving tours, they act like they are following guidelines, but when nobody is watching, they don't. Lots of complaints about this with members. read more
