Franks assistant might work on your hair with him and in his place: He used me to train his assistant, Eliana, how to do the balayage with him and also in his place when he needed to tend to another client he was still working on. She was sweet and helpful, and the highlights turned out good under Frank's supervision. He uses a method of teasing the root, spraying it with hairspray, and then applying the lightening mixture, to get that seamless look. Eliana also did my haircut which was unexpected since I booked with Frank, not his assistant. It took her a while to cut it, and it turned out just ok. From what she said she is newer to the industry unlike Frank with many more years of experience. Time: It took about 5 hours for the balayage, toner, and cut. Overpaying at this salon: Another stylist in the salon was rudely talking about how much more she was charging new clients compared to old clients. Frank kept a neutral vibe while she ranted on about not needing anyone if they don't want to pay her higher price. This didn't sit well due to the fact that I paid hundreds more at this salon to see Frank than I have anywhere else to get my hair done. She didn't mention anything about her expenses going up due to inflation, just that she's making so much more from new clients now. The combined total to Frank and Eliana was $562.00 for the cut, balayage, toner and tips to each. I won't be returning as the experience and result was not stellar for the premium price. For the same service, my previous hairdresser in Pasadena was in the mid-high 300s w/tip (and this was after raising her prices a few years ago- it used to be low 300s) and my new hairdresser in Rancho Cucamonga is in the low 300s w/tip.

I went on a Sunday afternoon to look for clip in extensions for an upcoming wedding and was not disappointed. I was helped by an older man who appeared to manage the nail shop next door. It didn't seem like he was super knowledgeable of the hair extensions since he works next door, but luckily I knew what I wanted. He actually matched my hair tone to some extension choices very well. He was polite and helpful throughout my visit. After helping me for less than ten minutes I found exactly what I needed. I was very surprised they offered ombre style clip ins so those are what I bought since my hair is blonde balayage/ombre. I tried them on at home and the quality of the clip in hair extensions are amazing! I can't wait to style and wear them to the wedding. The overall vibe and experience (in the salon) was very good and my stylist was very friendly and nice. When I left I was satisfied with the appearance of my hair. Now, I know tape-ins can be a bit uncomfortable (which they were painful when I left) but I just continued on with my day. As days went on the pain became more and more painful, so painful that where the tape-ins were installed was throbbing. I reached out to the hairstylist but didnt get a response so I contacted several other hairstylists to look at my head and get advice via photos. They all recommend to remove immediately as they were not installed properly, they were to close to the scalp with to much tension. My friend who is also a licensed hairstylist said the same thing and helped me remove them that night (which was 6 days of me having them in). I finally got a hold of the stylist who did my hair and let her know of the situation. She told me I had a sensitive scalp and it could have been caused by some underlining health issues. (That is not the case) as I told her that I've bleach my hair and had things done to my hair for years and NEVER had any scalp issues like this. I did ask for a partial refund and not a full refund. I asked for a partial refund because of the physical bodily harm that was caused to me due to the improper installation. I was told no; that once my head heals she'll just install them again just further away from the root and I will not be receiving a refund. Not only did I not have the hair in for that long (6 days) but if I didnt remove them it could have caused even further permanent damage to my scalp. I spent $450 not including the tip of $40 that I gave the stylist.
