He is very shy and isn't very friendly towards new people so it's nerve racking to find a place where you feel he will be cared for properly and loved in all of his grouchy Chihuahua glory! Once you get through that part he is a love bug. We went to the local PetsMart and had a bad experience just talking to the people there and knew he couldn't go there. That's when I looked on Yelp and found this place! It had great reviews and I saw that they had experience with Chihuahuas! It's nice to know my dog would be staying in a home(with lots of space and a big back yard) with experienced people who loved animals! So much better then a cage! I was very nervous when I dropped him off....ok I cried! Do you think he's spoiled???!!! Beth helped me feel so much better because she took the time to send me photos, tell me how he was doing, and talk with me while he was staying with her. After the first photo I immediately felt at ease and thankful we made the decision to leave our dog here. I really appreciate that Beth takes the time to do this and it really shows that she cares about animals and her job. I feel comforted to know that my dog has a safe place to go the next time his "parents" are away!

The Fairy Dogmom deserves far beyond five stars!…read more We reached out to the Fairy Dogmom about two years ago, and we feel so incredibly grateful that they have become a part of our family's life. I cannot overstate how incredible the owner, Katie, and office manager, Lynda, are. And my comments--already verging on superfluous--would sound even more so if I described how fantastic our regular walker (but really, family member), Dolores, is- she is kind, caring, and we, and our pups, love her. We have asked Fairy Dogmom to walk our pups (three, poorly trained cavaliers--which is no easy task!), feed our kitties, board our dogs, and also stay at our home to take care of the full menagerie (three dogs and two cats). Fairy Dogmom has fulfilled all of our requests and done so reliably and with the utmost care and attention. For "normal" dog walks, we receive comprehensive and fun updates, complete with a narrative and photos, and when we have had a Fairy Dogmom stay with our dogs and cats, it's like we have left them in the capable and loving hands of a best friend--who updates us constantly by email about how our crew is doing. We recently lost one of our sweet dogs to cancer, and Dolores, Katie, and Lynda could not have been kinder, or more supportive, through a very tough month. Communication, billing, and payment are all A++ as well! In case it's not clear, we could not recommend Fairy Dogmom enough.

It is apparent they love pets and ensuring their proper care. The reports I receive after each visit put my mind at ease, particularly since one of my kitties is wary of people she doesn't (and, at times, does) know. I also enjoy the photos. The app that APC uses is a user-friendly interface that allows you to handle virtually all business with APC, and the team sends reminders to confirm the scheduled visits a couple or more days prior. As others have commented, make no mistake about it: the services cost and sometimes, the sticker shock gets me, particularly considering the circumstances for the visit. There is a weekend charge, per day, per pet, and a holiday fee, per day, per pet whenever there is a holiday or it's APC's dedicated holiday season. While I expect to pay to have someone briefly interrupt their own holiday plans to handle the things with my kitties that I cannot, boy oh boy does it add up and quickly. A loyal customer discount or customer appreciation savings here and there would definitely be welcomed! That said, I know I can leave my pets in good, competent hands and that my home is secured, as well. They will tend to plants and pick up the mail, if you ask, and they do leave things orderly. I love the notes, the pictures, and the care they show my pets. I know they have been kind to my pets and that's the most important thing to me. I definitely recommend and will use again.

We know because there was way too much food left over from what we left for the sitter. Finally, we've requested the keys to our house back several times -- via their online portal several times, over text, etc. Both my partner and I have reached out, and still no keys. This is such a low hanging fruit, and I sad to say that I just have no trust in this company anymore. Probably need to call our landlord and pay to have the locks changed.

I would text the owner and always got a "who is this" reply with an excuse that she just got a new phone. Who doesn't save their clients info in a better way? I have a whippet who is very thin by nature. I came home once to a dog who lost 2-3 lbs. That's not much for a regular dog but her ribs already show so it was really bad! I don't know if she didn't get fed or didn't get treated well but this dog doesn't miss meals so something was seriously amiss! Another time we were gone for a weekend. When we got back on Sunday our cat was acting funny. He would walk three steps and sit. He wouldn't jump on furniture, he could barely do stairs, etc. He ended up at the vet for a very serious condition. Ummm...wouldn't a pet sitter notice a drastic change in behavior? I suppose not if they never actually gave any attention to my pets. The last time we used them, we were stuck at BWI and texted the owner to let her know she didn't need to come the next day because our flight got cancelled. She never replied. We got home at 1am to dogs that hadn't been let out or fed...the check we left was still on the counter. Our oldest dog had a stroke and we found her on the floor. If our flight hadn't been cancelled, she probably would have sat there all night. They of course said that they left the check and the oldest dog was fine but I call BS! We ended up going with a new pet sitting service and the sitter we got worked for this company in the past. She confirmed everything we thought. You pay for a 20 minute walk and you're lucky to get five minutes. They are so overbooked and understaffed that you aren't getting what you pay for. If you need a good recommendation let me know. My dogs and cat are my babies and we searched far and wide until we found a great service in the Alexandria area.

I honestly was comfortable and was not worried when I dropped my pup off for a few days, and Myron always responded to my emails to let me know how she was doing. There was immediately an aggressive dog who he was watching who was growling at my dog and acting aggressive towards him. He said it was a family member's dog who he was watching. We toured the back yard which was mostly concrete, as my dog was walking around, he found a dead and completely flat bird laying on the ground that looked like it had been there for months. There were several water bowls throughout the back yard that were full of super dirty water. He said that he walks through regularly to clean the yard, but somehow missed the flattened and dry dead bird. When we went to drop off my dog, Myron did not let me dog be introduced to the other dogs, instead he LEGITIMATELY PUSHED MY DOG OUT THE BACK DOOR and shut the door behind him while he was terrified and yelping in fear as all the other dogs surrounded him and the same aggressive dog lunged at him. And dog ran back in fear and ran into the glass door. Again, should have walked out of there then, regrets. When we went to pick up our dog, Myron was still sleeping, he forgot when we had planned to pick him up. When we got my dog back, he had a cut on his nose that looked recent and he was absolutely FILTHY, covered in mud. I understand that dogs get into tiffs, and accidents happen, but Myron didn't even acknowledge the injury, which makes me suspect he didn't even notice it happen.

We made an appointment, and before we arrived (same day) they had retrieved her records from our previous vet. The urgent care vet had read through the last few years of her history, we barely had to explain anything. EMMAvet has lots of testing facilities on site so we didn't have to wait too long for results. They gave us multiple treatment options, but they were honest about our cat's condition. Soon after, we determined it was time to euthanize our kitty. They have a special room for this, with comfortable chairs, Kleenex, and options for pet cremation containers if you want to get their ashes back. I really appreciated that they went through all the options and fees at the beginning. We paid before we had to go through the emotional euthanasia process, so we had alone time with our kitty in the last moments, and when she was gone, we could just leave. We experienced so much kindness and compassion from all the staff. It's also very clean and attractive. I only wish we'd found them sooner.
