Let me hit you with the Pros: The ambiance of this place is quaint and casual. The food portion was "ok" nothing to blow penny whistles about. Definitely try their empanada sampler...You will not be disappointed. The Pernil ... Good Lawd it was lovely right along with the fried plantains. I didn't order any but laid eyes on their sandwiches that came out to other patrons and they looked ahhhmazing. Now, the Cons: Some of the servers were eating at the bar, not that they can not eat, but there were a few on obviously on the "clock" and found it unprofessional for all to see. The most disturbing thing was one of the servers at the bar was eating with her bare hands food to mouth and then LICKED her fingers only to then see her pick up a food order and deliver it to a customers table. I mean YIKES just as the world is starting to open back up again with the underlying hesitation of do I stay in and eat or do I go out because it is "safe" makes you just want to throw in the towel. The Server we had was polite, however not very attentive. We had to ask several times for beverage refills, get our own napkin and apparently the only dipping sauce to accompany any of the dishes was the "bodega" sauce. It wasn't all that by the way reminds you of yum yum sauce you would scoop up at an Asian restaurant. The yucca fries are on point if you can get them.. fresh otherwise slightly on the hard side. This wasn't my first time eating here, but I haven't written a review yet. I ate here yesterday with three other people. It was Easter Sunday and this is one of the only places downtown actually open on Sundays. It was insanely busy because of the holiday and that it was Sunday. The owner buzzed around every table and checked in with everyone. He was so friendly and he cared about having a conversation with each customer. None of the staff panicked about how busy they were and the kitchen was incredibly efficient. It was a really great experience. Now the food, if you haven't eaten here yet, you're making a mistake. We stopped in Columbus to see some friends on our way to the Atlanta airport, and they told us about Bodega 1205. We ordered some sandwiches to go. 1 of us got the Tripleta a la Bodega. He said the chorizo was the best part of it. 3 of us got the Cuban. Sweet lord, they are phenomenal! You'll want to grab a fork because there's so much succulent meat, it'll be pouring out the sides and onto the homemade chips as you take a bite. The bread itself was phenomenal. I saved half my Cuban to eat on the plane, and I risked a speeding ticket on I-185 just so I could get to my sandwich quicker. Needless to say, it didn't make it onto the airplane. It was gone by security. I can't wait to come back to Columbus for another Cuban (oh yeah, and to see my friends). read more

I have been a regular at Bodega1205 since finding out about it in January. They have been open a little over a year and the location is perfect! I eat here about once a week during lunch or on a weekend day for breakfast/brunch. The restaurant has always been clean. Restrooms are always clean. I have seen small and large families come and enjoy their time here. Bodega1205 is an experience. The staff and the owners will always treat you like family. The restaurant outdoor area is pet friendly! Drink recommendations: My favorite coffee is the Cafe con Leche. They do make it with brown sugar so be sure to customize it while placing your order. They also have a variety of freshly squeezed fruit juice. Dish recommendations: My go to is always the Caribbean sandwich for lunch. If I am eating breakfast I always order the Bodega Omelet with Pastrami and Provolone. If I am eating a heavy lunch I always go with the pernil (roasted pork)...the seasoning on it it's amazing! Try it with yellow rice and beans. It never dissapoints. All in all Bodega has a great representation of Latin American food in the Columbus area. They succeed where others have failed. Recently went here and had a delicious meal. Extremely authentic Caribbean style food, and at decent prices. The portions were significantly large for the price range, so that's always a plus. The service was great, we were immediately greeted and sat down and were well taken care of. My wife used to visit the Dominican Republic often, and said that the atmosphere, decor, and music was as if she was transported back to the islands. We recently tried Bodega 1205 for the first time. We will definitely be back again. The service was excellent - very knowledgeable about the food and attentive! My wife had the Caribbean Chicken and I had the Criollo Sandwich. Both were fantastic. The food had a lot of flavor which is what we love. We went during a quieter time and sat outside on the patio. The staff was constantly cleaning windows and cleaning the outside where the outdoor seating was. The empanadas were not flavorful and when I asked what spices they use they said salt and pepper. I've had empanadas from many many places and none used only salt and pepper.
